Oh, sweetie...my Element is a 2010 with 321,000 miles on it. I live in Southern Oregon; just took a trip last weekend to Bend, up through the mountains (390 miles round trip). I had another trip to Bend on New Year's Eve day, when it was snowing through the mountains up around Crater Lake, and we were golden. I remember driving about 85 the other day, passing someone on a 4-lane. I usually drive around 72-75 on the highway to work in the mornings. No Problemo. I've got the "thing at the top" on the windows and the front too...I really appreciated that when I had a dog riding with me...or for PNW rain...

My father just completed a cross country trip, (NC to WA), about 10 months ago in his 2005 Element. He loved that thing, and it served him well. He ended up staying in Olympia. Sadly, he just passed this week. I plan on keeping the Element, everytime I look at it I think about him.

Elements have a low center of gravity and a nice wide track, I feel very comfortable driving 75-80 MPH in my Rallye red 2005 AWD automatic with a Deezy full roof rack loaded down with equipment.
Happy motoring, these are great cars!

Greetings, welcome to the Element family! I have a 2003 Honda Element that I have lived out of for 2 years now. Her name is 9th, and she has 231,000 miles on her today. I have kept up on all of the regular maintenance as well as the big mile maintenance. She has only ever broken down once...but I was still able to limp her 60 miles on the highway at 55 mph. I purchased a 2011 E-camper last year with 190,000 miles on him, Tank the Toaster! To me they are just broken in. Enjoy miles and miles of smiles! Cheers!

I was just gifted one last week for my birthday with over 256k miles that is also a rust bucket. Truthfully I don't care what anyone else says I'm rebuilding this bad boy.

Keep us updated! I saw some people who rebuilt or reinforced their rusty frames but there was no way I was investing money into this Element. I could tell the previous owners used it as a toy

I drive a 2005 Element, automatic transmission. Generally keep it around 75mph on the interstates. It shakes a bit, and it can get loud, but it still feels quite stable.

2006 EX 4WD with 283k+ on it. Unless it’s completely trashed it’s worth it.
Almost everything can be done with a simple set of sockets, channel locks, and screwdrivers.
With maintenance these things run almost damn near forever.

Also I’ve never had any vibration or noise above 60 mph.

Miles on an Element mean absolutely nothing if they’ve been well maintained. I have three and have zero doubt they will outlive many cars coming off the production line today!

Crazy coincidence, we just bought an '04 with 211k and we live near you in Ann Arbor. I too was looking at buying an old pickup but they are all rust buckets. So I started looking for an Element, again. (We owned an '07 Element for 12 years before giving it to our son -- it would run 80mph all day on long trips out west.) This Element lived most of its years in a part of Ohio that does not use salt on the roads so it does not have much corrosion. Paint looks terrific. Good video here on things to watch for with these older models: ruclips.net/video/pMiRef4FeMc/видео.htmlsi=wzOwsIi_F7qD813Q. Good luck, keep us posted!

Dude, don’t sweat the high RPMs it takes to go faster than 65MPH. It’s a Honda, the K24 VTech is in its “element” going fast at 3500 RPM going 70MPH! (I made a funny!). Change the oil often and coolant every other year and that engine will take you to half million miles easily! My ‘05 EX has 440,000 and I’d drive it ANYWHERE, including mountains or far-far away, tomorrow. Yes, the paint is good, BUT, take a good look-see underneath for rust. Especially if you’re in Michigan. These Elements Achilles heel is underbody rust from salty roads. Good luck!

I have a 2007 5 speed automatic Element and I usually keep under 70 mph. I think that 5 speed manual versions rev at a higher RPM at highways speeds.

My 06 got to 271k before the head gasket gave up, manage to get lucky find the same motor with 58k on for about $800.
keep an eye on your coolant and you’ll be fine.
As for 60+mph there’s just noise from the tire roar echoing the fastest I’ll ever go in it is like 85 maybe

why do you get anxious when you go above 65? does the car shake? i drive an 06 E awd manual and i get done vibration from time to time because my suspension is 20 yrs old and all my mounts are probably rock hard
i hope and pray u checked the underside body for rust ?? that’s the main culprit for these cars
