Very good review and he is speaking from his heart. I have a long experience in owning about 20+ cars over the last 20 years in Dubai and India. Mostly second hand ones though I have had new ones too. European cars are the best overall. Toyota Cressida, Nissan Sunny, Nissan X Trail etc does not give the feel that Audi 80 or Volvo 740 or the Skoda Rapid (in India) gave. Of all I would rate Rapid near the top for its power, feel, size (not too big, not too small), boot space 500+ liter almost like a mini van capacity, and above all the control (with one size bigger continental tyres). Same like this gentleman said, I have moved from Rapid manual to Nissan Magnite brand new automatic. Magnite auto is an excellent vehicle silent, smooth and powerful at its 11 lakh + price. From that experience i can say that the 1 L turbo is practically as powerful and has the equal "pull" uphill like a 1.5 liter. But I miss my old rapid manual every single day. The control is not the same. I could go at any speed in rapid - ive covered almost all states in south india. But with nissan (especially auto) i dont feel the same control though power is not lacking. Also I feel sedan is more pleasurable to drive than suv types. I dont intend to use my car inside the city for everything. Parking is a major concern. So manual is fine for occassional city ride too. Manual is better for mileage and control on long rides, i feel. So my next vehicle is a sedan with a light manual clutch. Virtus would have been the first choice - unfortunately i dont like its looks. Though long, it lacks the class of Vento or Jetta or Passat. Slavia is ok, though not the best looking. So next year probably slavia manual 1 liter - at around 12 lakh its surely worth it.

Hi Gagan , can you please tell how is the maintenance cost and service cost is it reasonable ? Can you pls share how much it will cost for service. Am also planning to take the base model so just wanted to confirm whether is it affordable for middle class people?

I have a Taigun 1.0 Topline MT and I have extracted better mileage without trying at all. This 1L engine can give you 19-21 kmpl with 4 people + luggage for 4 people + AC in peak summers at speed of 100 on highways. If you drive at 60 as mentioned in the video I bet you can extract even 24-25 kmpl from it.
Regarding service costs, it's almost same for VW and skoda, the sales guy was only trying to sell his car to him over VW. The difference would be less than a thousand rupees. I got my first service done for 5200 (labour charges were free for the first service). Consecutive services will be around 7-8k every year which I believe is darn good as its at 15k and justifiable for the price point of these cars. Parts are readily available too since the car is heavily localised.
One more thing, stop treating the 1.0 TSI engine as a small one. This engine smokes every other 1.5L 4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and some turbocharged 1.5 4 cyl diesel engines in its segment in performance and gives equally good mileage (compared to petrol counterparts). Drive it to believe it, don't just look at it's size. This engine is an award winning engine and has a capability of producing 270 BHP and 270 NM of torque with a monoscroll turbocharger and an electric supercharger.
