    Answers to FAQ’s
    -Anal Glads
    I clean the anal glands at the owners request. It is important that the dog itself express their anal glands. The anal gland is a muscle in the dog’s rectum and the more you manually do it the more you’re teaching the dog not to use it’s muscle. Honestly groomers really shouldn’t express anal glands. If the anal glands are compacted a vet should be doing it but if your dog is having issues with anal glands you should add fiber to the diet.
    -Music
    Unfortunately I can’t use the complete shop noise because we play music in the background that I can get copy written for so I have to drown out that music with something or no sounds at all. If I put in background music I can leave a little shop noise in. So, I will always add music unless it is not necessary to do so.
    -“Roughness”
    During the bath I speed up the time to trim the video shorter in length so, things may seem “rougher” than they actually are because what you’re watching is a bit distorted. Also, when you hear me firm with a dog it is to train them for safety reason so they do not get seriously injured now or in future grooming appointments.
    -Scissors & Matting
    I didn’t use scissors because they are way more dangerous than clippers. Clippers I can pull away quickly but shears are very sharp so if the dog moves I could’ve cut him/her really bad. Groomers are actually taught never to use shears to cut out a mat because it’s so dangerous. I’ve seen so many instances where people (owners and groomers) have cut dogs bad because they were trying to cut the mat out quick and actually cut the dog.
    -Voiceovers
    Voiceovers go hand in hand with the music. My viewers like to know what is going on and what tools I am using and why. We also like to discuss topics related to dogs so I will talk about that in my voiceovers. I will always do voiceovers unless it is not necessary to do so.
    -Video Angles
    I switch up my angles so that the majority gets a view they like. If you’re looking for a head mounted view that is typically Wednesdays or point of view could be Mondays or Fridays. Stationary camera view is either Mondays or Fridays
    -Coddling Dogs/Puppies
    I don’t coddle dogs during grooming because grooming is a serious matter dealing with sharp tools that can injure a dog greatly. If a dog or puppy is throwing a tantrum I will not stop to hold or comfort the dog because they don’t understand like we do. They consider that rewarding. So, by me “comforting” them during a tantrum or spastic moment, it is actually backfiring and training them that if they act up the groomer will stop and they will get what they want. Which is how dogs end up getting hurt during grooming and hating it. So, play time is for before or after grooming and never during.
    -Assumptions
    This final one is not a question but more of an assumption some people have. Some people assume, because I didn’t put it in the video, it didn’t happen. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. As groomers and editors, we cut out a lot of “unnecessary” content so what you are watching is NOT actually how the day went. So, if you have a question of whether or not something happened during the process that is NOT in this pinned comment, please feel free to ASK and NOT ASSUME.
    -Shampoo/Conditioning
    I do NOT use a lot of shampoo. The bottles that I use are mixing bottles and are predominantly water. I thoroughly wet the coat and scrub them really well which creates the nice lather so they are actually clean when I am finished. The reason I scrub so long is because there is a "feel" to the coat when the soap is actually starting to penetrate through the dirt, and that is how I know the dog is getting clean! I don't stop scrubbing until that feel of cleanliness is reached! I also create my own 2n1 shampoo/conditioner mix, so, there is conditioner in each bottle unless stated otherwise.
    -Ears
    Yes I clean and pluck ears but only when necessary. If a dog has clean ears, there is no need. If a dog has matted ears and matted hair in the ear canal, I won’t pluck the ears if I have to shave the ears down to avoid hematomas. Yes I put cotton balls in the ears for certain dogs who are prone to ear infections and I use happy hoodies for senior dogs or noise sensitive dogs.
    If you ask me something that is in this section, I will respond, refer to the pinned comment. Also, know I have very sarcastic humor and in general a sarcastic person (not in a bad or annoying way lol) so if you comment something sarcastic or smart mouth, I will reply with something sarcastic in return 🤣🤣
    Thank you all for the constant love and support and I’ll catch you in the next video 🙏🏾❤❤

      This is good info. I honestly thought the anal glands were something that had to get done because they were clogged or something. I didn’t know it was a muscle

    • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  11 месяцев назад

      @@Liminein I’m glad you found it useful. Yes, if your dog has issues with their glands boost the fiber in their diet and it’ll bulk their stool and allow them to release them on their own. Pump is really good

    I am learning a lot from your methods. When you say mats what type are they? Tight to the skin, knots here and there, pelted, all over his body?

    • @TheLuvOfDogs
      @TheLuvOfDogs  Год назад

      Pelted mats to the skin are an automatic shave. His mats are scattered matting. Not tight to the skin but in multiple places. Web matting is when the matting is all connected together like a spider web, those are to be shaved. They kinda go hand in hand with pelted mats

    Hey great job! Happy must be so happy he wasn't trapped in all of those mats any more . Yeah it's must be hard for seniors to afford grooming along with there own health concerns. Cost of medication etc. Happy looks splendid! The short cut is so adorable love the Mohawk!!! Hopefully this will help him from getting matted again. I'm also thinking , I'm 61 and I wear bifocals since I was in grade school. It's hard to see something that is either too far for the reading portion of the lens and too close for the distance part of the lens as we age it gets harder to see close up. Tappy's is black on his back it could just be hard for them to see. In any case I hope they are doing well and enjoy his new cut. You rea so funny when you sweet talk the dogs.😂. Then when you have to be the nonsense groomer,pack leader boss, I laughed because you sound just like my best friend she was born, lives in and loves philly. So it only stands to reason they would develop fast and safe techniques to deal with it. I little warning they are not as gentle as a typical American groomer. One more thing they use there scissors with confidence but you could make the same cut with clippers, you will see what I mean

    • @TheLuvOfDogs

      So, you shouldn’t wash them and let them air dry because that makes the mats significantly worse. When washing a matted dog you have to ensure the hair is completely dried. That is also how you separate matting so it is not as harsh. It also depends on how matted the dog is.

    YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO USE HIGH VILCITY DRYERS ON DOGS HEAD. IT TRAMATIZESTHEM. ALSO A HAPPY HOODIE WOULD MAKE HIM CALMER. HOLDING HIS CHIN LIKE THAT IS ALSO TABOO. I COMMEND YOU FOR HELPING THE ELDERLY BUT AT WHAT EXPENSE. THE DOG YOU GROOMED JUST HAD A REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE AND WILL REMEMBER IT THE NEXT TIME AND BE FEARFUL OF BEING GROOMED

      Actually, you can use it, you just can’t place it directly on their eyes. Also, he’s been groomed 2-3 times before with the velocity dryer the same way and does great. He didn’t have a “traumatizing” experience then nor now. Tappy is a very good boy and does great for grooming. He loves coming to see me at the salon and does A LOT better than most puppies. Don’t send that negative energy his way. He’s a great boy! Always has been, always will be.
      Thank you for the view, comment and support tho. 🥰
