  • Happy Friday! Exciting news-we have a new captain who's joined our team, Capt. Boomies. We recently attended the Anacortes Boat Show & Trawler Fest where we filmed several walkthroughs, tests, and sea trials on some incredible boats.
    The SeaPiper 37 is designed for the Great Loop, river canal exploration and coastal cruising. Powered by a single 85-hp diesel engine, it cruises comfortably at 5 to 6 knots with a range exceeding 1,000 miles. She boasts a distinctive forecastle (fo'c'sle) design that blends the charm of a commercial fishing boat with the elegance of a European canal cruiser. Capt. Boomies sits down with Justin Parkins from Seattle Yacht Sales to talk about this must-see boat!
    Starting Price: $399,000.00

    HOST / TEST CAPTAINS
    Capt. Boomies BoatTEST Captain*
    Captain Boomies (aka Capt. Kate) holds a 200- ton USCG license and worked on superyachts for 20 years, captaining vessels up to 150’ before retiring several years ago. She now is a delivery skipper of all manner of vessels. When not testing boats for BoatTEST, she often can be found taking new yachts off their cargo ships in the port of Baltimore, getting them operational, then delivering them to dealerships. Unbeknownst to dozens of boat owners in the Chesapeake Bay, Capt. Boomies was actually the first skipper of their boats. She is also active in boat instruction and making videos for her personal website.

    I have been following this company for a long time and I am pleased to see how its truly outstanding boat is gaining more and more popularity, and the company itself is turning from an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. I am sincerely glad about your success and the return of production to its historical homeland. I wish you further success and expansion of your model range!

    I love the capabilities and pragmatic design of both seapiper 35 & 37, but i wish seapiper would hire a designer like saxdor’s to do the helm station and living accommodations in a single midship cabin. The outdoor commute after you wake up seems really inconvenient.

    The thing that makes it so versatile and capable in many respects is also what you would have to come to terms with if your going to "live on her for long" the beam.

    I love it but think there are some concerns. Length to beam makes it fast with low HP which is great but asks for the expensive stabilization. The narrow beam and central cockpit asks what can you do for a dinghy without blocking boarding and extending slip size, and how does the admiral use the head underway in rough, cold, wet conditions? The boat's capable but the admiral is not.

    If this were sold in Europe, I'd DEFINITELY look into one. Love the ethos of the boat, and have been following the project for a while. Very nice video. Here's hoping it lands in the EU.

      @@BoatTEST Thanks for replying. If it could be priced competitively, vis-a-vis the Beneteau 34 (which is the best seller in Europe when it comes to trawler-type vessels of similar dimensions, and also a single engine boat), I think it'd be a winner, given its focus on simplicity, ease-of-use, reliability, economy, and relatively easy one-man handling. And it's a thing of beauty, as well. Love that design. Nice to see the new ownership be much more proactive when it comes to promoting it.
      Cheers and smooth sailings

    A steel hull would be better.

    • @michiganengineer8621
      @michiganengineer8621 28 дней назад

      It would also cost at least half again as much. I'm not arguing against you because I agree that a metal hull would be better. It's just that selling a steel, or even aluminum hull for what is essentially a "puddle jumper" would be nearly impossible in the States.
