Greetings from China, thanks Bosh for making such a great tutorial, I love dub music but didn't have any tutorials that I could learn from, you don't know how happy I was when an English bro recommended this video to me, thanks again Bosh.
Just starting out with Ableton to experiment and hopefully create my own riddims and dubs. This was an awesome video. Very insightful and really helpful. Very well explained and easy to follow. Great great stuff. Cheers DJ Bosh. Big Up! 🔥🔥
For context i had a radio shack '100 in One Electronics Builds' type thing in the 80s, and I played the F out of it. Ableton ......It's like that if it was Tony Montana
What controller would you recommend for live dubbing? I’ve been considering using the launch key 49 and assigning the knobs to effects and faders to track velocity. The other thought is to use the launch controller
Id say at minimum you want something with 6-8 faders and a few knobs for each fader. I love the Akai MIDIMix and it seems to be the most popular option but theres others out there too. My first one was a KorgNano Studio. Also depends if you want to spend a bit more and have it with a piano keyboard too. Here is a video I've done about my setup ruclips.net/video/NQ3CA0xhJuI/видео.htmlsi=iEuK_Rp-VMsGQ607
Hey man. Really useful tutorial thanks! When I make a bassline in operator I get this horrible click when changing notes where the waveforms have to jump. Any advice on fixing this would be great. Can't find a solution anywhere.🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you! My first solution to your problem would be to put Operator into Mono mode whenever making basslines. You can do this by clicking on the bottom right "Master" section of Operator and then looking for a control in the middle section called "Voices" and changing it to 1. Another thing I would consider is adjusting the Attack and Release on your Bassline. They're the 2 things I usually look at when getting rid of that click. I hope that makes sense
hello there!!!very nice tutorial bosh!..i have a question,is there any particular setting for the channel routings or you simply created the starting tracks (kick,snare,hihats....melody).im asking because you had the i/o section toggled off. e.g: for the melody channel is that going thru to the master or you created a melody bus that takes the signal from sends and then goes to the master?
Thanks for watching. The channels are not routed in any particular way, each channel is just going to the master and the Sends/Returns are too. No Busses
you should add some swing, makes a big difference overall, I'm using the grooves menu in ableton: Swing MPC 300 9ths 61, gives it that nice ch ka cha feel!
Say, DJ Bosh; I've been working on reggae tracks, (I've absolutely loved this music since I was in my teens, I'm over 50 now) And as I'm relatively new to recording, I've got a couple questions maybe you could answer. (I'm not a newby to playing, just recording) I only recently discovered this "Dub" style recording, and I proper ADORE this, and I'd like to try it out. I have a Yamaha mixer from my band days (playing out live) and I have a Zoom G3Nx Foot Pedal , I wonder if this would get me any usefulness (?) Incidentally, just so you know ....... I'm using GarageBand as DAW ATM, but I'm considering , seriously, moving / changing to a couple more (Ableton has been recommended to me by so many good players / producers!) Great video, keep it up, this music is COMING BACK , I've seen it everywhere THANK YOU 🇲🇱🇯🇲🦁

Hey firstly thanks for watching! I have a Zoom foot pedal I use occasionally on my bass parts
I would highly recommend Ableton especially for dubbing but I'm sure other DAWs are great too
love it
Thanks. Hope it helped
great stuff man! what's the dub producers group you had mentioned?
There's 2 on FB. One is just 'dub producers' in lower case and then I think there's another called DUB PRODUCERS UK.
@@BoshDubs thanks Bosh - I appreciate ya!
THX!
No problem!!!
good tutuorial.
but the audio is de-synced when I watch.
Thanks I'll look into that
Hey Bosh, where do you get your samples from?
All over. Splice, Computer Music Magazine, freesound.org, other music
@@BoshDubsis that for all your kicks and snares etc?
@jjlovesjam the majority of my drum kits are from Computer Music Magazine sample CDs yeah
26 inch rim’s !!!
This is what happens when you download random vocal packs 😂
Can you upload the file you have created?
Greetings
Do you mean the project or the song?
@@BoshDubs The project
@@sergiomovellan3743 ah ok, I hadn't thought about it tbh but it's not a bad idea!
@@BoshDubs I'm a beginner in ableton and there are steps I don't understand...
Thanks Bosh
@@sergiomovellan3743 I'll track down the project and see what I can do!
