  • This might not sound like much but it's actually a profound psychological effect called, "Breaking the Chain".
The way it works is your mind is programmed for fear of loss instead of hope to gain. Your brain only focuses on what it already has instead of what it could have. That's the survival mindset we all have.
So as more time progresses without smoking, your brain will begin to see the consecutive days as a chain, which it won't want to break.
For example, if each day I mark an X on a calendar for every day I haven't smoked, and I successfully have three days without smoking, when the brain caves to cravings and wants to give in it won't want to break the chain.
The brain will feel it's breaking the chain or loosing its streak of 3 days without smoking. Fear of loss will trigger and suddenly you'll feel fresh motivation to not give up.
It really does work. Your brain thinks, oh crap we've worked so hard to get those 3 X's on the calendar. We shouldn't break the chain and keep pushing forward.
If this video brought value to you please give it a thumbs up! There's also the living sober app which works really well. Take your pic both are awesome for tracking your sober time!

Thank you man! I appreciate that. Now that I've quit smoking am full of energy and working is fun. Before I'd have to constantly smoke before starting anything, than 30 minutes later think I need to smoke again to do the task. Never got anything done until I quit.
Glad to have you here man. Got a new video up today too! :)

I wrote a small guide giving lots of suggestions on quitting in our other comment bro. Am here for you but please do check out "leaves reddit" just google it. I think you'll really appreciate the context there and the support! :)
