Me : reads under blanket
Me : gets too hot and suffocates
Me: goes back up
Me: gets too cold
TheSilverSwan legit why I don’t read under the covers
This is my life
That's when you awkwardly sprawl out a leg and an arm and get cramps from holding up your flashlights
Is there a reason why I suddenly prefer reading undercovers. Been doing it a few months now and much prefer it. Although you’re very right about the coke out when it’s too hot, then go back under five minutes later when you’re cold!
growing up both my parents we're readers (still are) and they had a mini "library" in our house. most of the books we owned were science-fiction, horror and mystery books, basically books with too serious topics for me as a child to read. of course, we had almost every Stephen King book and I always begged my mom to let me read at least one of his books but she wouldn't let me because she thought it was too early for me (I was nine or ten). so smart ten year old me decided to read "it" every night while my parents were sleeping. I was reading under the covers every single night and I got caught when I had only 10 pages left. my parents weren't mad, they we're literally proud of me because I read that book at that age, and since then I am a huge Stephen King fan😂❤️
Wow amazing. I'm 17 years old and I would not read it. Just because I'm scared of clowns and the page count lol.
This is such a great story 😂❤️
I read books under my covers with a clown night light, lol!
I'm not allowed to read "It" until I'm 18... guess who's gonna find a copy and secretly read it? Meeee😏
That's amazing haha I'm 14, only half way through IT and literally dying gaaah it's such a long book haha
Idea for a video - ACTUALLY READING BOOKS I WAS SUPPOSED TO READ FOR SCHOOL!!!
Sydney McGinn I hate the reading at my new school. We have a reading level and we can’t use our own books... Me and my friend are really annoyed.
+
How did u pass without reading them?!
@@libbyhargreaves6265 Personally, I used to read summaries online or let my friend tell me about it before each period. And then I'd actually read it like months later and find out that it was pretty decent and could've easily gone through with reading it when I was supposed to lol
I used to read under the covers and sneak snacks into my room late at night. It always felt magical to stay up and read after midnight. 🔦
Jesse honestly gives me motivation to read more! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Omg 😲 thanks for sooo many likes
Damn... This is the most unique booktube video idea I have seen
Awesome 😁
Goes to most of his vids.
@@aditibisht22 I agree ☺
I always hated reading under the covers
And everytime I did it, I got caught by my mum and she took my book away. Oof
Sameeee
I used to read in the shower so my mom wouldn't take my book lol
@@5itka that's on a whole other level
Same. I would always get rlly hot and my neck and back would start to hurt so I barely lasted ten minutes under there
That is the worst form of being grounded .. getting ur book taken away
I READ UNDER THE COVERS FOR A WEEK
wait was this meant to be a challenge this is me every day of my life
oh wait, he’s not staying in bed the entire week
nvm we’re not the same
The Icarus Gang oof
Well you just summed up my life
Last time I read under the covers was in 2015, when I read the third book of Julie Kagawa The immortal rules series. I had to read under the covers because my mother was sleeping on the bed next to mine, we shared a room. I read it on my nook so no flashlight but she heard my crying a bit but I had already finished the book.
"I wanna clip it on my nose😂😂😂"
That made my day
Last time I was this early, Percy Jackson was an equally good movie
Oh wait
1. Mood lol 2. Same though
😅😅
Means never.
Just picked up Frankly in Love at the library today!!
Ugh flashbacks. My whole childhood was finding random things that gave off enough light for me to read in bed after I was supposed to be asleep, but not enough to tip off my mom.
I’m always under the covers reading it’s kinda tradition now
Lolitayellow Baydoun I applaud you, I would suffocate
We all know we wouldn’t know what to do if Jesse wasn’t here to brighten up our day.
🖤🖤🖤
I never had any sort of bedtime/curfew growing up, so I'd regularly stay up all night reading with just my normal light on
Lucky wow
Reader-Hack for next time:
use a headband flashlight. 😂
(it's so much easier trust me)
I was ready to turn off my computer and then I saw the title of this video xD
I would lie on my back, hold the flashlight between my chin and chest, and my book was propping up the blankets. That was generally enough to block most of the light and allowed me to quickly look like I was asleep if my parents walked by/opened my door.
When I was young we had a reading challenge in school where if you read enough you would get these hockey collectable bookmark things. Our parents had to sign off on the reading logs. I hid my reading late at night but wasn't smart enough to lie on the log that I had read 3 hours 😆. After the first nights I just said it was a half hour but kept reading late.
Can't read under covers. Too claustrophobic and I feel like someone is sneaking up on me XD
That's why I read under the covers lol
I read where the covers are over my head but I can still see out if I ever read at night
I read under the covers _because_ i feel like someone (or some_thing_ 👀) is sneaking up on me. The blanket is my protection
I used to read under the covers but it's really uncomfortable 💙 things I do to read at night
I was rewatching your videos before you uploaded!!! 😂🥰❤️
Thats a great way to kill time
I'm planning on reading this book for Contemporary-a-thon.
Also, I never read under the covers. I had a flashlight near by, so after lights out I just used that.
Hey Jesse, we want another Bookstorm video!
soon! 🤗
jessethereader YAYYYYYYYYYY
jessethereader YAY!!🤗
Love how creative your videos are Jesse! Always so exciting to see that you've uploaded!
I love this video so much! And you make me so excited for this book!
YASSS JESSE. Always pumped to see when you've uploaded a video!
Anyone else feel like they are doing something illegal when reading under the covers?
I know I'm not doing anything wrong, but I'm always scared I'm going to get caught.
All the time. It makes me feel like I'm a rebel.
When my Parents tell me to stop reading i just turn off the light for 1 Minute and then turn it back on and start reading again xD
I'm so happy that you found a 5 star read this year! I know how it is to go without a solid, perfect book. Please do that book review!
Whenever I got caught I just blamed it on not having a clock so I had no idea how late it was. So they got me a clock, so I lost an excuse but didn't stop, just had to be more sneaky😂
I love that you included the speed forward of you reading! Seeing the surprise expressions and reactions make feel not so alone TwT
-Except I’m way more over the top-
I have to read under my covers so my parents think I’m asleep 😂 I have a thick duvet so they can’t see the light through it. I either use my I phone flashlight and an actual book or an ebook but I have a breathing vent during the hole in the duvet
You make me laugh so much, love your videos!! I never did read under the blankets, suffocation! Frankly In Love is on its way to me, can’t wait!
Highlight of my week!! I added this book to my want to read list! Your channel got me reading again! On my 11th book in two months! Most I've read in years!
im so excited to pickup frankly and love! Loved this video!
I just want to say thank you. Thanks to you and your channel I've gotten out of a 10 year reading slump and now I just can't and don't want to stop reading again. So thank you Jesse! ❤️
Love your videos!!!
I love reading under the covers, I find it cozy and comforting. That's one of the reasons I've been a Kindle user for a long time. It allows me to read without an external source of light.
Now, regarding the book, I'm adding it to my TBR asap.
Love your videos!
I didnt do it either but it's just because my mom didn't care if I stayed up reading, as long as I got up the next morning, I could continue doing it and honestly knowing I could read the next night really gave me motive to get up in the morning
I love your videos, Jesse!!!📚🧡
Great video 👍 I ordered Frankly In Love from my library because of you talking about it in another video. I can’t wait to read it. I’ll probably end up liking it and having to buy my own copy.
I read ebooks under the covers on my tablet a lot. When I was in the hostel with 3-7 other girls in the same room I did one of two things: 1. I sat with my legs hanging out of the second story window to access the outside lamps or 2. I would drag my blanket to the bathrooms and either read in the bath if the light were already on or in brightly coloured stalls which each had its own light and lock.
You should try reading the Magisterium series by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare.
I read them all last year, and there are quite a few parts that should change the 12- rating. It's just a bitttt dark and it's also like elemental magic (like in Avatar) meets Harry Potter while a war is going on.
You are my new favorite youtuber
Love these types of videos. Quirky unique and awesome great job.
I just got this book a couple days ago and i’m so excited!!!
Yay! A new video! I like your videos!
me too jesse, me too
I was actually debating whether to read Frankly in Love! Now I know I will! Thanks Jesse😄
I loved reading under the covers as a child! I also had a secret reading nook in my closet, so I would go in there, close the door, and read by flashlight.
I’ve been reading frankly in love and IM LOVING IT TOO
This is interesting idea. Love it
You are the best RUclipsr ever Jesse! You should definitely read keeper of the lost cities it's amazing! Keep it up your amazing🤗
The black and white reading videos are so aesthetically pleasing.
Anyone remember playing nintendo gb /gbc/ gba /ds /dsi under the covers as kids ?
My mom encouraged reading but also believed in getting good sleep. She took away my flashlight so I had to get creative for light. I got a necklace from McDonald’s for the Atlantis movie but you had to keep the button pressed down. I held it between my teeth to keep it on. Pretty sure that’s why I have TMJ now 🤦♀️
I finished reading frankly in love and i love the book ❤. Surprising never read under the blanket my mom said i always went to the kitchen to read and she was cool with it 😂😂
When I read under the “covers” is actually a very tiny blanket and I put the air in front of me so yeah
OMG I really loved this book too. I was expecting a simple romance story, but it's so much more than that.
Hey Jesse I think you should try Stephen King's novel. I suggest IT chapter 1 and chapter 2
Haaaaaaaa...FINALLY jesse uploads a video.... And finally we get Jesse's opinion of frankly in love
Everytime I try to read under the covers I suffocate XD
Btw ur bed covers are cool
now this is a talent I aim to achieve! you’re a legend, Jesse 💖
I sometimes used to read under the cover but not with flashlight, usually just by the light of my phone (yknow, the old siemenses and nokias, so not much light at alll). But I could hardly see so I didn't read for hours on end. Then I started climbing in my closet and reading there with closed doors, between my clothes. Not a walk-in closet. Rather like a single bookshelf without the shelves, and with doors. I could hardly fit in there but it was much better cause I could breathe and use proper flashlights.
Making a reading Fort sounds like fun!✨
the reading community is the nicest community. no kap
A winter favourite of mine
Jesse thank you for inspiring me to read more.
Omg! I didn't get the notification so now I'm kinda angry. I love this channel so much! Also your shirt is great!
Between you and my English teacher I’ve been reading more and enjoying it
Whenever I’m in a reading slump watching Jesse takes me out that slump
that fort is so impressive - i will join you there next time hahaha
I have the same book light and yeah... It's kinda amazing😂😂 Thanks for the video!!!
I read 3 books in 2-3 weeks and I’m pretty proud of that honestly it’s probably nothing but I haven’t been reading all summer so it’s nice going back to routine
"We must undress the book before reading it" XD
I did this occasionally as a kid, sometimes with books and other times watching anime on my Ipod touch. I mainly remember being so into Inuyasha that i when i had to get off the computer i would continue watching it under the covers. I usually could only do this in the winter when I had enough blankets on my bed to block out the light and I would put my clock radio under the blankets near the edge to make a small opening for air. It was a bonus that the clock radio had a light up display and i would sometimes stay up listening to my favorite stations as well. I never got caught but it wasn't very comfortable and I only did it if I just had to keep read or watching something.
Now I need this book! 🙃🙃
Ok this video was amazing ! But just wondering how long does it take him to read 80 pages ???
Sounds interesting, night one style with a book light. I'll try it for October, Lovecraft is on queue.
I always propped up my blanket with a fan so I could breath lol
you are my Dorian 📚 ❤️
Reading vlog hahaha ❤️
As a person who did this for years as a child, this effs with your eyes real bad. Then again, I used a book light where the size of the light was a postage stamp and I away covered myself under covers (to minimize light). Probably/definitely tmi but love the video lol ❤️
I want that reading light. This was funny. 👍😂🤣 I read under the covers now. 😯
lol, my dad always said we can stay up as long as we're reading. Many nights in my youth spent reading late...I recommend it! There was NO pressure of being caught and therefore no stigma of "being naughty" staying up past bedtime. Like you weren't scared to sneak reading. It's great to teach kids reading at night isn't "wrong" and they shouldn't be afraid!
This was a fun video! I’m still waiting on my copy of Frankly in love and I will not read it under the covers. I always think I can’t breathe.
I need that light in the day 4
MY CHILDHOOD
I used to read with my door closed and my christmas lights on, i almost never slept with my door closed because it made me anxious, but my family never noticed so i was luckily, never caught. Reading under the covers was always too hot for me 😂
Im not sure HOW the youtube algorithm knew i need your videos in my life, BUT THANK GOODNESS THEY'RE FINALLY HERE. It's been a long 23 years without this content 😰
I already do this
welcome to the club
I never read under the cover cause like you said it was so HOT. I read under my bed instead. I do that quite often actually XD
That reminds me of when I was a kid, my mom had her bed kinda diagonal in her room so the space between the backboard and the wall was cave-like. I spent a lot of time playing and reading there.
I used to read under the covers as a kid! 😂 I can't wait to read Frankly in Love, glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Do a book rec video plzzz. Also I love your videos 💜 best of luck
Oh Jesse, night 3, you look so sweaty! Poor you. I've been there😂
I used to use the closet light too! Also my DS light 😫
Can you make a tour and show every books you have...
I know it's dump but I need more book recommendations and I would reaaaaallly love it
Hey there, J! I was definitely the kid that stayed up all night reading. For a few years my parents got on me and would ground me because I was staying up all night, but then realized ( "why are we punishing her for READING?!?!?!) LMAO!!! But before that when I DID get away with it, I used either a clip on book light, or I would plug in my game boy to the wall adapter so it wouldn't drain the batteries, and use that. I also found that if your wrap an ice pack in damp paper towels and put that on your belly when you are laying down to read, it keeps you cool cuz it cools down your core.
I honestly feel like the fort feels the most kid like and the one id want to do most as an adult 🤣🤣 literally seems like the BEST.
