hey reader fam! would love to hear your feedback on these vlogs i've been making! are there specific things you'd like to see? should i be updating you more on my thoughts on the books i'm reading? am i rambling about non-sense too much? i want to hear all your feedback! i'd love to make these vlogs as interesting & entertaining as possible and your thoughts on them are super important to me. thanks so much!
I am LIVING for them, I think you have already improved so much from last year. So over all I LOVE them, keep up the good work!!! (BTW I'm first to comment). I think I would like to see more vlogs of you going to the bookstore and stuff like that.
I love the vlogs!!! The editing is amazing! Honestly everything about them are good. Maybe you could either have monthly wrap ups or you could have like a short montage in the end of each of ur vids where u speak about the books you are reading just then.
I'm loving these vlogs so far and OMGGGG THE EDITINGGGGG IS KILLING ME!! If I took a screen shot of any frame in this vlog, it'll look like a tumblr edit 💛 also, as a dental hygienist - YAS after clean feels 😁
good job branching out with classics! i also recently finished a dystopian classic (the handmaid's tale) and was surprised that it wasn't as intimidatingly dense as i imagined.
I read it last year and was surprised at how good it was as well! I bought my copy years ago at a garage sale for it’s gorgeous haunting cover, but when I tried reading it I thought it would be too much and put it away. This year it was part of my book club so I decided to try again and THANK GOD cuz it’s AMAZING.
1984 is one of my favourite books of all time. It's a depiction of a realistic dystopia, and that ending. Also, you should read Animal Farm next; probably my favourite ending to any book ever!
I read Eragon last year and it was amazing, I hope you like it too. And I wanted to tell you that I really like all the videos you make, and I love your humor and just how sweet you are . Thank you for making such great videos.
I am so glad you liked 1984 (also you kept saying 1989 but that is ok because everyone is human and makes mistakes), it is one of my favorite classics. Your channel is a endless waterfall of positivity and bookish goodness. Can't wait for the next reading vlog 😁
1984 is REALLY good while bordering realism. I read it two years ago and while I did love it, it made me nervous to think that this was a potential side of human morality that could show itself in the future. I'm not very good at reviews, can you tell?
I love the vlogs! I've been watching you for such a long time (2 or 3 years) and for around 7 months I wasnt reading or watching booktubers, I recently got myself back into reading and reading and watching you is making my stress go down so much, thank you Jesse! I am excited every time I see a new video of yours. Keep making videos you'll be proud of. I know maybe you'd want some critiques to improve, but I can't think of any at the moment. I used to avoid reading classics but today I do it regularly. I love it how books written in say 200 years ago discuss matters that are present in our current world too.
I read 1984 recently-ish. I enjoyed it. There were parts that I found slow for sure. When Winston is reading the stuff in the second part was definitely one of those times, haha. I enjoyed overall though. I love reading classics. I would recommend "The Picture of Dorian Gray" as a classic that I enjoyed immensely. I'm reading Dracula right now and enjoying it so far.
I am obsessing with your new video style, I love it so much! Plus I just bought the same bind up for my university class and also gushed over the beauty of it in my last book haul! It's so beautiful on my shelf!
Hi Jesse I just wanted to say I’ve been really enjoying your newer videos you’ve made. I know you were feeling a little slumpish with the videos you had been making last year and I was a little worried when you said you were changing it up this year but I’ve actually been looking forward to them! You have such cool and different videos than any other booktubers and it’s very entertaining so yea I just wanted to tell you that!
I am living for your editing!! It’s all so...aesthetic!!! And I’ve been meaning to read 1984 (or 1989 as you might call it lol) for a while now, so it might be time to pick it up.
I love your new style of videos! This one was really fun to watch, and I laughed (not at you of course) about the haircut. I had the same thing happen to me last year when I said I wanted only a couple inches off and...well...let's just say I walked out with a bob, haha. I am also trying to add more classics into my reading schedule, so this helps inspire me to just jump in to that resolution! Also, Eragon is one of my all time favorite books/series so I am excited to know what you think! And yes, please finish the series first before reading The Fork, The Witch, & The Worm. It takes place after all the events of the last book so you will be spoiled.
Loving your videos lately. I’ve honestly loved them since I found you a few months ago but I can tell you’re enjoying making them more so it makes me enjoy them more because of that. Also, (sounds a little weird but) your lips are great. Your hair also looks good but you liking it is more important so... 🤷🏻♀️ And I now need to read 1984. OH I NEED TO READ ERAGON NOW TOO! This book mail segment is awesome, btw. Hahahaha, YES, the rant cam! I always enjoy hearing your thoughts on the books you’re reading. Hope your stress lightens up! And yes, I did write this comment over the duration of the entire video.
That bind up of the Dark Materials is beautiful! I didn't enjoy the Golden Compass film as much as I enjoyed the books I have read (Subtle Knife and Northern Lights) but I too would love go give the series another go. Northern Lights wasn't my favourite but I'm so curious about where it goes next, especially with the new books out. Piles of stuff are my life! All is lost. I accept the chaos
I want more reader vlogs! I love this! Did not know these kinds of videos were what I’ve been lacking in my life but now I know and I need MORE!!! Anyways, thanks for this, can’t wait for anything you post next 😊
I read the HIS DARK MATERIALS series a few years ago and enjoyed every sentence of it! It's got a special place in my heart, having been my favorite series for at least a year and when you mentioned it I died a little inside. The first book can be kind of confusing, but new characters appear in the other two and spice it up so continue on, it's worth it. The feelings hit me like a train throughout the whole thing and when everything was over I cried my eyes out. If I could go back in time I would probably just read it again and regret nothing.
The fact that you kept calling the book 1984, 1989 because of Taylor makes me so happy. Also, I usually don’t like reading vlogs (I feel like they drag out too long and can get repetitive) but yours are very entertaining and short. Particularly, I like it when you’re telling me your thoughts while you’re reading it so yea.
Gosh I live for reading vlogs! Also this new editing and aesthetic is so great, I feel like booktube is getting very samey (?) and it’s refreshing to see a bigger booktuber doing things a little different ☺️
"how does one stop making piles?" what a mood.... I'm super excited for you to read eragon, I started rereading the series about a month ago bc I never got the last book oops :D
I would love to see more vlogs from you since I always watch these over and over again. I love your videos Jesse.

I've been loving these vlogs you've been making! I love the chill vibes and I think the editing is SO ON POINT! Also, I think you're doing a great job at balancing the chit-chatty aspect of a vlog with the actual reading.
You definitely have to read the entire series before reading The Fork, The Witch, and The Worm. The books get pretty big as you go, but they are soooo good!!! I’m so glad I’m finally seeing someone read this book!
Definitely read all 4 Eragon books before reading the short stories, or you’ll spoil yourself on the series (actually you kind of already did). And yes, Northern Lights is the UK and original titel, they retitled it The Golden Compas in the US. It’s the same book xD Really like these new type of vlogs, you get a lot of different types of content in one and your editing skills are madly on point 💪🏻📚
BOOK TIME! I just got a new book and I happy! But I have to read it in a week... I’m trying to read 20 books in 14 weeks. Wish me luck! ❤️ love you channel! Btw I like your hair! It’s not bad at all!
Yes! I’m so glad you’re reading classics. I know English class has scarred people but bruh classics are so worth it! That’s why people have been enjoying them for decades/centuries! If anyone would like I have some suggestions! I find 20th century classics are nice to ease into because the language is easier to parse than, say, an 18th century novel. So here are a few: Cat’s Cradle, Vonnegut The sun also rises, Hemingway Brave new world, Huxley The Illustrated Man, Bradbury The Bell Jar, Plath Anthem, Rand Anything by Steinbeck and Stoker’s Dracula is easy too! It’s pulp genre fiction of the 1890s - cool, huh? Oscar Wilde is also of the late victorian period and he’s hilarious. And I can’t help but to promote Victorian lit, lol - if you like long-ass slice-of-life stories Wives and Daughters by Gaskell is a great journey. Another great place to start with classics is with children’s classics. If a contemporary kid can understand the language and enjoy the book so can you! Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden are both delights! I am SO EXCITED WHEN PEOPLE READ CLASSICS!!! No matter what reader you are classics are a great thing to add into your reading life. It connects you with readers and writers of days gone by, which is honestly the coolest thing.
The best advice I have for avoiding piles is carving out 15-30 min each night to tidy. I do my dishes and clear off my kitchen table (cause it's the catch all place). I can't do everything but I focus on the areas that are the worst. Hope this helps you!
I am looking forward to the Eragon liveshow! I have read it a long time ago, but I never read book 4, so I actually planned on rereading the whole series because my memory of book 2 & 3 are rather foggy... not sure if I have time to reread book 1 before February 2 though because I have stuff to do for uni urg... I read the his dark materials series last year, and I have to say I actually liked each book more than the one before, the first one was a 3 star for me, the third one actually became a 5 star
I just wanted you to know that I'm loving Every single video your uploading in this 2019. I just live for them, keep it up jesse💖💯 [sorry if there's any mistake, I'm Italian]
I have been putting off 1984 for so long because I’m nervous about what I would think but this has inspired me to pick it up soon! Also I read the novellas after Queen of Air and Darkness and it was fine, to me it just added more background and detail to things that you discover in QoAaD, rather than being required before you read it!
You are doing great. Speaking of interesting stories. Something crazy happened. A young woman was an activist and saw that the guy who played Luke Skywalker was retweeting tweets of a radio host who had been very prejudiced towards certain faiths. Even though she wasn't famous she tweeted Mark (Luke Skywalker) about how this radio host guy was not as well intentioned as he seemed. One of those situations where it's easier to take the guys side but Mark stopped retweeting the guy so he wasn't promoting him to his followers - promoting hate. Standing up for what is right can be hard. The radio host did try to shut her up but glad she spoke up! Her name is Natalie. Star Wars fans appreciate women!
Classic lit is my life, I’m so glad you’re trying to read more!!! I strongly recommend the importance of being Ernest by Oscar Wilde, the great gatsby, or Alice in wonderland. These are all pretty short, but absolutely wonderful for their own different reasons!
I loved you in this vlog! It felt more authentic and I loved that it didn't feel scripted. It made me feel like I am getting to know more of the "real you". I liked the rambling bits a bunch. First time in a while that I didn't skip ads on purpose. Btw I loved Eragon and I didn't read it until college. Also I would NOT read that new Eragon book before reading the entire series. Spoilers! I've been watching your channel for six years or more now and I love the direction your channel is going. Good luck on all of your goals! Sending happy thoughts. 😊
YES! YEEEESSSSSSSS! YEEEAAAHHHHHDKWLPZDD! ALL THE CLASSICS! *ahem* Yeah, you should try reading Frankenstein next. Whatever. What a beautiful edition of 1984! Not that I'm jealous. Totally not.
I've read all the original Eragon books and also have the new short stories! You definitely need to read the original series first as the short stories are set after them so it would spoil the ending for you if you read them first 😊
Eragon is a wild adventure and yes indeed there is dragon if you like action your in for a treat and yes you need to read all four books to read the novels
Good job trying to branch out and read classics! I find modern classics like 1984 can sometimes be easier for classics newbies to get into than the older works. I haven’t read 1984 yet though! Also the cover of your copy kept making me thing of the Incredibles logo😂
Huh. I usually don't go for the backwards ball cap on guys (or anyone really because just... WHY?), but with you it works. Props, Jesse. Also, I get you on enjoying going to the dentist. I love my dentist--he's awesome!
This is why I learned how to cut my own hair. Although yeah, I get terrified I'm going to make myself look awful each time, somehow it turns out good (there was a time when it was not good. We don''t talk about that time.) but seriously it's almost better being in charge of my own hair. On a side note, the hat looks good on you! And yeah... it's crazy how even just one comment/negative experience can make us insecure for a long time. It happened to me too a long time ago--that's why I avoid using clear pictures of my face on social media, even though I know I don't look bad. God bless you, Jesse.

1984 definitely withstands the test of time. The only part i didnt like about it is that one part of the book is a book inside of the book

I really liked 1984 when I read it, even though I thought I wouldn't! it's so cool that you're branching out in your reading tastes!
I just live for them, keep it up jesse💖💯
[sorry if there's any mistake, I'm Italian]
Love your new editing style 💖❤
I've really been enjoying your vlogs Jesse, keep them coming.
I have been putting off 1984 for so long because I’m nervous about what I would think but this has inspired me to pick it up soon! Also I read the novellas after Queen of Air and Darkness and it was fine, to me it just added more background and detail to things that you discover in QoAaD, rather than being required before you read it!
I've got Eragon on my tbr as well. I hope you enjoy it.
I am LOVING these reading vlogs!! ❤️❤️
I've finally seen this on the day its uploaded
yay!
I am loving your videos. Currently binge watching, and your enthusiasm is infectious. Keep it up.❤️
I love reading classics! Dickens especially is great! I got a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday last year!! I love it so far!
I´m loving your recent videos, you are doing great!!!!!
YES! YEEEESSSSSSSS! YEEEAAAHHHHHDKWLPZDD! ALL THE CLASSICS!
*ahem*
Yeah, you should try reading Frankenstein next. Whatever.
What a beautiful edition of 1984!
Not that I'm jealous. Totally not.
I love Frankenstein
Hey the 1984 cover makes me smile, in the center of the “eye” looks like a symbol in the first incredibles movie.
I love the dentist too! Idk why but I do! Woah!
Thanks for showing the inside of the book .will be expecting that in the upcoming videos I hope it’s double spaced
If you like 1984 you should try Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.
I love these vlogs so much
thanks alyssa!
OH MY GOSH!!! Eragon was my all time favorite book when I was in high school.
eragon is soooo amazing! i’ve read the entire series a couple of times and it never fails me 😊
I read 1984 back in high school and I really did not enjoy it but maybe if I re read it now I'd like it. I love your haircut!
I've read all the original Eragon books and also have the new short stories! You definitely need to read the original series first as the short stories are set after them so it would spoil the ending for you if you read them first 😊
Going to coffee shops and writing/reading is one of my favorite things to do!
Loving your vlog style videos! The editing is on point! Keep it up :)
I share your love for dentist appointments. :-) And I read Queen Of Air And Darkness without reading the novellas. Still understood the plot.
