In 1988 Parliament/Funkadelic performed @ Tipatinas music club in New Orleans. Belita Woods sung this song as a transition song to Knee Deep. I will never forget that concert. It was the greatest performance and concert that I had ever witnessed seen to life. Her and George Clinton were phenomenal.
So glad I experienced Belita Woods and the PFunk live. Joy and energy I can take back watching this countless times. Uncle George will take you back again and again.
WHAT AN HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO HAVE CLASSICALLY DROPPED SOME SERIOUS OG FUNK…. IN MONTREUX, SWITZERLAND WITH FUNK QUEEN Ms “B” and FUNK MASTER BLASTER MAESTRO BERNIE WORRELL For THE LAST TIME BFORE THEY BOTH LEFT THE WORLD. BELITA WOODS THE GIRL IS BADD BERNIE FOREVER HAS ALL THE WOO IN THE WORLD REST IN PEACE IN PFUNK HEAVEN TRULY A VERY VERY SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY LOVE AND RESPECT Billy Bass Nelson OG FUNKADELIC
OH yeah... Belita is an awesome person all around. And, she shuts it down singing. Such a unique voice. And I know George has to be proud to have her along. She helps hold those harmonies together!
Lovely version with her late husband Garry Shider accompanied by Lil Hayden on Violin. RIP Ms. Belita Woods. May you continue to have Peace in the Afterlife...
Just saw p-funk the other night and they played this tune - first time I heard it - awesome remake of that old standard - wow! they are just so funky......!
well once again, they came down to richmond and i was there...and still in love with this voice...she is starting to become my favorite part of the show
I wish there was a decent recording of the GC&PF concert at The Ocean, Hackney, London on the 17th of July 2004... I was there and it was the greatest concert I've ever been to (in nearly 30 years of concert-going) and she played a HUGE part in making it so special (as did the violinist!).
DJ PIGG hi DJ Pigg, I was there that night, your right, it was a great concert. I saw them 3 years earlier at the Roots & Culture Festival on Hackney Marshes. That was the first time I saw them, they were the head line act, they were wicked that night. I've seen them on quite a few occasions, and I never tire of watching P/F. Real heavy funk, mixed rock & blues. GC always has some mind blowing guitarists, that's what makes the music so heavy.
@jody808 ...I would love to have a clean copy of this myself. I have seen them perform this a few times and it is so electrifying live. P-Funk at its finest for sure!!!
My son gave me this particular DVD several years ago, I just dig it....these are trained musicians, Check out Gil Scott Heron, "The Bottle" check him out...you dig the 1 as I do --- Perhaps some of you may know his music. My grand daughter and I dance when Ms Woods sings this tune. we love her, the music, the spiritual connection , we just laugh rather, she laughs when I "dip" her.
Rest in peace to my beautiful grandmother Belita Woods❤
I absolutely adored your grandmother her voice is so beautiful. This is my favorite song
