    Thanks for showing how you removed the gear selector levers and the motor / top of the mill head.
    Your video will help me to remove mine so that I can check inside and make sure that all the old grease is removed.

    Hey did you steal my machine, lol nice to see another video of these as not many others out here .

    I have the same machine my gears actually broke. I found a machine shop that was going to cut brass gears. I forgot about them till 6 months later. When I went back he had passed away and my gears were lost. What would you charge to make both plastic gears out of brass ? I would love to get it operational again

      It's not even so much how much I'd charge, but I'm right in the middle of a massive renovation project that will most likely take me to the end of the year. However, if you email me around Christmas time I might be able to do something. Email me at eigenheerc at hot mail dot com

    Hi chris thanks for a very nice video. I' just go my mill, a drill chuck is in place but I know you use a collet on some of your videos.
    Do you have a video on how the chuck and collet is removed. Thanks.

    How's the mill working with the nylon gear's, I did the same and they lasted about ten minutes of light cutting

      I'm still using it and it's been years.

    I liked your video very much most educational. I always thought that oil was used in the milling head. Is that graphite grease?

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  6 лет назад

      no, it's molybdenum grease. you can get it at the local hardware store. and yes, you're right, some milling heads have oil, depending on the make/model. thanks for watching

    hi. how do you have an indexing head fixed vertically? i can only fix horizontally. thanks for disclosing, that i was supposed to take off the gearbox leavers before i took the gearbox apart last weekend !!!)

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  3 года назад

      It's just the way my dividing head is configured. but you can get an angle bracket and bolt it to that. that should work. good luck with your project.

    Please can you assist by letting me know where I can purchase gear selecting arms for this lathe. Thanking you in advance.

      I don't know but i would recommend joining the "emco larger lathes" group. Its on the .io domain. Not quite sure the direct url address. There's lots of contacts there that might be able to help.

    How long did the gear last? I 3d printed several and they only lasted about 5 minutes. Tried with nylon, petg and abs. printed gears are out. Just trying to figure out if cutting an aluminum one would be a better option.

    Was it a 24 teeth gear? Module 1,5?

    Shouldn't be oil inside the gearbox?

    • @ElectricEvan
      @ElectricEvan 7 лет назад

      The lathe gearbox uses oil the milling head uses grease.

      I have a better idea. If you go to groups.io and search for emco lathes and join that group they have all sort of information you could be looking for in their archives. I have found it to be an invaluable resource.

    Chris can i purchase one of these gear for mine mill its on a maximat7 ??

    • @ChrisOfAllTrades
      @ChrisOfAllTrades  3 года назад

      I think you might be better off ordering one from McMaster Carr or see if someone can 3D print it for you. The time required to make one of those from scratch would probably make the price I'd have to charge cost prohibitive

    I don't think the nylon good to make gears.
    The milling head gets hat and it can deform the nylon gear
    good to use Delrin plastic
