I absolutely LOVE Bane! I've even had some PCs take the Magic Initiate Feat just to get it. Being able to affect ALL of a critters Attacks & Saving throws, on 3 critters, for a full minute, is incredible and pairs wonderfully with a host of other spells. :)
Shocking grasp could be pretty useful for an Aberrant mind sorcerer. If they succeed against your Tasha's MW or Dissonant whispers, it seems like a good quickened cantrip to fall back on
I think Hold person is pretty good too , bc the paralyzed condition is strong , only downsides being that it only targets humanoids and gives them a chance to recover at the end of its turn . but for a 2nd level spell i dont think its bad especially when fighting a single creature.
As someone that played a Fiend Blade Warlock from 6-20, Spell Sniper for Shocking Grasp can be absolutely devastating against any creature with Counterspell. Either you can bait it out with casting a spell, or you can hit and eat their entire reaction, and in either case you still have your Bonus Action and movement. The only trick is that the DM has to have the monster predict that you're going to open your turn with a cantrip instead of something big possibly followed by a cantrip.
Hold monster is one of my favorites. Granted it is a fifth level spell, but just being able to inflict the paralysis condition on a failed wisdom save is pretty good.
A favorite combo of mine to use with heat metal, is to shoot an enemy with an arrow or a bullet, then its incredibly difficult for the enemy to pull it out or use an action to pull it out.
@@hinamiravenroot7162 it's all fun and games till you miss the spell you gotta have another way out also having the disengage will let you run further away
If I'm reading contagion correctly, the disease takes hold on the hit. The 3 con saves are to determine how long they're diseased, so a minimum of 3 turns up to the duration which is 7 days. This spell is much better than the narrator is portraying.
@@cratorcic9362 Dang, that isn't the way the spell is written, but I see the wotc teams interprets it as failed saves. This spell is now nearly useless.
@@evanharrelson9908 they are still poisoned up until that point, though, and that condition is pretty debilitating. That’s what you are probably confused by.
@TheDDLogs Do you have a link to these Spell cards you use that include XGE and TCE Spells? The Link in the description seems to only have the PHB stuff. Also: Great Content, keep it up.
A Circle of Spores druid would have it always prepared. If you can get a strong ally to knock the enemy prone, you will have an easy source of advantage that combines well with Elven Accuracy.
I’ve based an entire home brew campaign arc around the spell as an invisible area of effect with a tiered saving throw for how many of the effects they suffer while within the field. Sums up how cool the spell is and the fact that it is useless as written
What do you mean? Contagion is a bbeg buster. It applies the disease on the successful hit. They have to succeed 3 times before it goes away, and if they fail 3 times it lasts 7 days with no more saves. Also, it's a disease, not a poison, so immunity to poison wouldn't apply.
Top 10 best debuff spells: None. They won't stick long enough to matter. U're gonna lose concentration or they're gonna succeed. So burning a spell slot on a debuff spell instead of just buffing the fighter is a stupid choice.
Nah Faerie Fire is good. For the cost of a 1st level spell you get advantage on whatever targets fail. Say you've got at least 3-4 targets you use it on, that's a good chance it'll proc for a few, then you double your chances of you and your allies beating that target by getting to roll an extra dice. Some 1st level spells affect combat on a small scale. Things like magic missile and thunderwave that are reliable forms of damage. But they're only slightly better than average damage. A well placed Faerie fire doesn't do damage but it can guarantee a win.

I love these top 10 videos oh-so-very-much. Have you thought about maybe a "Top 10 Dual Classes" or something of the sort?

I'm shocked that Polymorph didn't make this list. It can completely shut down anyone it works on.
Hypnotic pattern anyone?
Hope you get better soon

I love Slow so much and it fits so well thematically with my chronurgy wizard!
Hold monster is one of my favorites.

As far as cantrip debuffs, I used chill touch to defeat a cleric bbeg and the next bbeg and mind sliver to help defeat the next bbeg.

Hear me out goblin wizard with shocking grasp that makes use of their disengage
That defeats the point lol

It only works if your goblin drags his feet on the carpet 😂

No, they interpreted correctly. The disease takes hold after the failed saves

Hit me with a story of a time you got contagion to work, cuz in 3 years of playing i have never seen it picked let alone worked!

Good list
No Grease? It's such a good spell for area control, and doesn't require Concentration.
How do you get those spell images? I can’t find it anywhere online.
Is that “Gymnopedie” in the background?
Hypnotic pattern? Hold person at higher levels?

Help? Oh buddy no... the players will be recieving these very soon
Freball can cas wthout vision.
Take care of your voice! Good job by the pinch hitter.
I am surprised sickening radiance is not on the list. Exhaustion is an insane debuff especially if they fail more than 2 saves
Yeah, but I think it didn’t make it because exhausting them to death has far more… offense-oriented applications as opposed to the debuffs
Where is Polymorph spell? Last session I have polymorphed gargantuan Purple Worm into tiny turtle.
I've started a new campaign and I'm playing as actor and musician, Keanu Reeves. His combat skills are matched only by his rizz and charm.
There is nothing in the rules stating that if you cast heat metal On a weapon that has a wooden handle You can't use it as an offensive buff.
The wording of the spell says they have to be in contact when you cast the spell, meaning you can't really use it that way
Original narrator plz
Contagion is only good for roleplaying reasons
Wrong. It’s great at burning through a creatures legendary resistance
YOU ARE NOT THE DND LOGS GTFO HERE
