The way Mirabel has essentially resented Isabela her entire life but the moment she sees what Isabela has been grappling with, she immediately swaps to showing her love and support is so beautiful. It tears me up literally every time I see it.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets emotional at the part where isabella says she's sick of pretty and mirabelle telling her she thought everything was fine to her . I loved your reactions video.

I love it when people understand Isabela's character and depth. Because most people only hates her. 🤣

I see this song as "the liberation of Isabela", because while Nature has structure it also has wildness, and Isa has been denied the wild freedom of her gift until Mirabel provoked her into busting out of that rigid box.

Awesome reaction. I think anyone involved with the creative process can relate to Isa. She's been making flowers according to other people's expectations. But is capable of so much more, as you said by tapping into your true self. Creatives can struggle with this sometimes, especially after working in an industry for a while. Isa is an inspiration to use your own voice, and trust yourself in your creative endeavors!

One thing I always loved was how as soon as she saw her family was actually hurting she'd do anything to fix it. Mirabell starts saying her family as having perfect lives but once she slowly started to realize they were all hurting she turned to support and comfort them where she could.

Isabella has always had to be Abuela's ideal of perfection, in every way. Mirabel has been basically ignored as worthless because she wasn't given a gift, and has been overcompensating trying to get Abuela's love. And so each has what the other wants - Mirabel as wanted even a sliver of the adoration Abuela showers on Isabella, and Isabella just wanted to be herself. This is the song where the sisters really see each other, and understand who the other is for the first time. Also, if you compare Isabella's singing from this song with her singing during "We Don't Talk About Bruno", you can hear how much less controlled she is here, rather than the princess-staccato she uses in that song when she's still embodying perfection.

I really like how isabella is similar to Luisa : in the intro song of the madrigal family, they're two older sisters presented as the beauty and the brawn. Luisa has a power of strength and has a presure to always be strong, without weakness. Isabella has a power to grow plants, is pretty and has presure to always be perfect (aesthetically) and grow perfect plants.

Isabella is the oldest grandchild. She is expected to be perfect in every way. So restricting and so much responsibility to be the example for all her younger sisters and cousins. She can't be spontaneous or do what she wants to or express herself in any way her grandmother won't approve of.

It's nice to see someone who understands Isabella's character flaw yet respects it. So many people scoff at her problem in this song as "Oh boo hoo, poor pretty perfect Isabella" and roll their eyes at her. A lot of people minimize her struggle as not being valid enough to be worthy of caring about her feelings as if all she had to do was just stop being perfect. It's cool that you can sympathize with what she was trying to break out of.

Almost. Once It was discovered that she could create roses abuela order her to stop experimenting and grow only roses. And that made her the favorite grandchild the perfect princess. Being forced to be prefect from the age of 6 or seven stress builds up. It was only a matter of time before one of them cracked at the seams. If it wasn’t Isabela it might have been Luisa but if it wasn’t Mirabel is the most likely. In fact they even hint at it.
