Definite tube amp tone on the edge of a smooth, creamy break up. I used a tube amp. Volume low. Pedal settings were : drive low , volume on pedal fairly high. I recommend this pedal!!!

Great review and good point about the difference between the TS9 and the SD1. Boss pedals stack really well with other Boss pedals. If you really want to get the Hammer Of Thor thump out of the SD1, then stack it with a Boss Graphic EQ7 pedal. It's of the hook. TS9 is more mid rangey for sure, but SD1 is definitely warmer.

Just like most of us I've been that quest of tone that never ends and I picked up my fair share of dirtpedals thinking I struck Gold. But eversince I picked up an SD1 it has been on (one of) my boards because it's just a no frills, set and forget pedal that just sounds good. BOSS stuff just does what it says on the tin. When this world ends, all they will find is Keith, a Tele, the Edge's famous AC30 and Boss pedals.

Boss does a lot of things incorrectly, but their overdrive pedals are very nice. Their original ones from back in the day are great, too. It gives you that perfect thick AC/DC rhythm crunch, if that's your thing. If that's the sound you desire, then Boss overdrive pedals are for you.

Silent switching, excellent buffers ( for the most part) and quality sounds that are simple to achieve. I’ve been down the boutique road only to find that Boss did it well after all. I only wish they had a transparent drive like the Klon or Soul Food.

Which 1 is better for punk rock. The Boss Super Overdrive or Boss Blues Driver?

      Super Overdrive! 🤘

Not very mids focussed? Wrong. It was Boss's answer to the Tubescreamer. If you want a flat EQ drive get the OD3. Both are wonderful industry standard pedals from Boss. My advice - buy both and stack em. Kick SD1 on for solos 🌴

Super Overdrive and Turbo Distortion are the greatest things Boss has ever created.

Question: I could play blues, rock and metal with this pedal?

Absolutely. Metal is mostly about EQ, so I'd recommend a solid EQ pedal if you're looking to play metal. Most amps have plenty of gain already for metal

Just to be clear for the people watching. The SD-1 that your favorite guitarists are using are probably the older ones that sound better then a new SD-1. That being said this is my main OD and I am very happy with it. I just hate it when someone says things like this dude to sell pedals. You could say the same about the tube screamer, but there is a big difference between a new TS808 and an original.

Would be nice to hear with just a clean amp!
