I think the nipa leaves act like a sunshield so that the metal roof do not get hot and so make room uncomfortable. Also as in old houses, the ceiling is high so that more cool air can move freely inside the house.

Larry from PH no the vibes in Siargao is different from Boracay .Siargao is much better while bocaray is like a long kilometres of beaches where resort and restaurant only 30 metersaway from the shore lines
