Hi guys. Just wanted to clarify that this is a concept and is meant to inspire, not to be copied outright. There are no 2 exact projects, a lot depends on the property, the owner, the use case, etc. As I stated in the video, there are a lot of things we did not consider yet but for the curious, here are some answers to your FAQs: 1. Mango tree breaking the concrete flooring can be mitigated by raising the floor and leaving a hollow area where the roots may hit - which can also be done here 2. Furniture gets wet? Use outdoor furnitures that are made for heat and rain. 3. Floor gets wet? Floor drains and proper slopes for drainage. Imagine the terrace areas or balconies of typical homes. 4. Security? When conceptualizing this house, we imagined it in a farm land in the province. Valuables may be placed inside the bedroom or locked in the cabinets. There are a lot more things that can be done but again, these are concepts. Thanks for watching 👌🏼
I like the concept of this house. I even sent the link to my spouse. It just does not fit the 1.5M budget mentioned considering I would have to add glass walls, glass windows and glass doors and others to retain the concept. Adding all those would probably cost more than 500k.
it's also hard to maintain if you do not have any help. anyone who has any kind of large fruit bearing tree really close to their home knows what a pain it is to keep the area clean. not to mention you have to deal with the insects, birds, bats, etc. that it will attract. also keep in mind, the tree sap and certain fruits will stain surfaces or sometimes eat through paint over time.

My three main reactions to the design: (1) It is so beautiful. (2) If this is for the Philippines, a lot needs to be adjusted to make it work in the Philippine climate. (a) You will have issues with insects. So that needs to be addressed. (b) You have rain for many months of the year, so the open area on the roof deck may not be usable during that time. All the second floor furniture needs to be selected with the idea of being able to withstand getting soaking wet. (c) If there are strong typhoons or earthquakes, you will need to check that the tree does not pose a safety risk. (3) I don't understand how to access the outside spiral staircase. If the dining area is on the second floor, how do you access the roof deck from the kitchen? Do you go through the bedroom and the bathroom? Or do you go out to the garden and walk the perimeter of the house? If you add a roof to the second floor later on to make it usable during rainy season, you will also have to cover the stairs so that the stairs stay dry. Even with all my questions though, very nice design. I like the look of the concrete slab roof. No more beams, wow!
I'm thinking of building something similar to this but on the beach in the Philippines.. Would something like this work on the beach? As far as dealing with insects, what could be done? Mosquito netted bed? What else? Maybe he could cover half the roof? Or just add a dining area on the first floor and problem solved?

The concept is fantastic and sympathetic use of natural environment and material. I’ve contacted your architects and hope to hear from them … for my personal rural coastal project on the East Coast in Malaysia. Thank you Slater for showcasing the design!

Safety concerns aside, this is a perfect retirement home concept. The concrete roof is perfect for solar panel maintenance. The minimalist design will also force us to de-clutter. Just make sure to give ample space for the bathroom needs - enough space to maneuver with help and /or with wheelchair. However, my husband loves to cook and that kitchen just wont cut it considering the amount of family members we have visiting all the time.

Indeed, the whole vid I am thinking what if a murderer enter the house. I've seen the doors, kind of thin for a wood door. Parang ang dali ka lang manakawan ganon
Hindi ako architect at hindi rin ako engineer, just an accountant, but I would always prioritize function over form. Others who would watch this would be wowed by the archl design but this house has many safety and security issues. Maganda to have a tree passing thru a roofing but a tree attracts lightning, ants, etc.,its branches can break during a storm. Outdoor furniture also needs protection from sun and rain. Ang mahal kaya ng sunbrella fabric and mahal din ang wood that can withstand sun and rain. Parang mali to stick to a budget of 1.5M pero yung furniture will definitely be costly. The first floor should have walling, to retain the design, glass wall would be nice but will cost a lot, it will also bring up electricity cost, during day time. Also, allowed ba ng National Building Code to leave the roof deck without a railing, or railing that has wide gaps, or with just the plants as barrier? Parang hindi. Also, it would also be important to have a powder room in the living area. We dont want visitors passing thru the bedroom just to use the toilet.
Hiring professionals is the best way to go. During our planning stage, we asked the help of a relative for the design and not so skilled engineer thinking it will save us money in professional fees. Turned out to be more expensive kasi we revised multiple times on the designs coz it didn’t come out compliant with building requirements. Everytime we revised, we paid. I cried all the time due to frustration and sayang ang money. When we finally got a very experienced (awarded pa) and licensed architect we started from scratch but the design was very good and we didn’t have any revisions when we applied for building permit. Walang sakit sa ulo. Learn from our actual experience, guys.
Wow, just wow! Excellent idea that can be done in any area provided there's a complete and thorough coordination with the Architects & Designers for the security aspect of the house! I'm so impressed that I subscribed to this vlogger! Please continue to inspire everyone who's planning to build or renovate their houses! Bravo! Salute!
Watching your vids convinced me to really get a professional help in bldg my future home! We had a really bad experience encountering an architect that is off the hook! We trusted him too much, and it’s our fault of not being careful but we really had no idea how to be involved and what to expect! But thank you so much Engr Slater coz you and Arch. Llyan Austria have really good content and educating us so well! Kudos to your videos and always waiting for your great contents! I am really learning a lot!
You can get what he got now in just few months ! But the question is how right ? Well I will tell you meet a professional who can help you trade your Capital to profits you will earn for sure
This is exactly the kind of house I'm looking to build in the Philippines. Very organic, yet contemporary is design and feel. I love it!!! Would love to have professionals build this design for me. Are you the architect?
I really love the Aesthetic of the house, and i love the floating effect that Sir Slater did on the flooring. The design of the house is very raw thats why if you dont have enough budget to fully finish it, you dont have too, you can take your time to save up money then continue with the building of the house. 😊😁😁 Merry Christmas ang Happy new year!
Safety & security for parties should be considered, wala lang just in case nagkalasingan, walang mahuhulog sa baba 🤣🤣🤣. Or kung mag kantyawan at magtulakan, especially for children or oldies na nagkakapikonan. 😂😂😂
This is an amazing design and I feel structurally sound. Truthfully I am already fantazing this house will be my future house when I move back to PI. I truly admire all your presentation and I am now religiously following your blogs on U tube. Thank you, thank you,
sliding screens (made of rattan with steel frame) can also be a good addition along the columns for a bit of privacy by night, as shade to harsh sunlight, for rain, etc. this is as the budget increase.
I'd like to know the basics of house planning and consultation, what's the starting price or price range. Will it depend on how many floors the house will be and the area or are there standard prices to get a design/blueprint?
I like the aesthetic and build of the house. Love structures that blend with the surroundings instead of standing out. So how much do we pay professionals with a 1.5M build?
@@cristinaremo6878 wala naman ginamit na wood sa foundation ng bahay since steel pipes and concrete yung ginamit and yung wood element is nasa furnitures. Ang pwedeng gawin in my opinion is to have the whole living area covered in moveable glass panels to give it the same outdoor vibe, and then use borate for the wood furnitures before applying wood varnish or enamel paint for finishing. Though it would still be best to consult this with professionals.
I am also concerned on how the mango tree will affect the house in case of typhoon. Other than issues on water leakage, baka maputol ang tree, mabagsakan ang house. This is a big hazard. But then, he said that they are still in the planning stage.. So more opportunities pa to improve the design 😊
@@RGCN_0011 we have a big mango tree in front of our house in an urban village. The ants first started to make homes out of the leaves of the tree just like in one of the documentaries I've watched from National Geographic or Discovery Channel, I can't remember which in particular. Then between May to July, just before big typhoons come, a lot of gamu-gamo would be swarm around at sunset. Then voila, we'd see termites moving up or down the trunk of the mango tree.
Thank you so much!! Very helpful ang imong channel. Love watching your vlogs as well as Kryz and of course I don’t skip the ads jud 😉 looking forward for more videos! Amping jud 😊
A big fan of your RUclips channel .I like the design of dream house Less is more......more aesthetics more spacious looks and more economical...very impressive Sir Slater ....
As a big fan of brutalist designs (mainly Tadao Ando's works) and a newbie Architect who's planning on building my very own house in 3-4 years, this concept is good and helpful considering the aesthetics as sir Slater says "SLEEK" all the time, it's damn sleek aesthetically all right. Good job both LLGADS and Sir Slater. Those renders are no Joke. Is that Lumion or Enscape ? I am using Lumion 8 and an older version of Enscape and a slightly upgraded potato PC so pardon if I couldn't really determine exactly. Ang ganda! Mamaw siguro ang PC ng gumawa nyan. Kudos to the renderer and his monster of a PC, well done!
Yes, it's practical, the roof is a little bit high so you don't need a ceiling. I like the idea that's it is open, looks more wider and free. The real tree on the 2nd floor is really cute, hahaha ...what a nice area to relax after a brain blowing work😃❤
Also would like to see your thoughts about swimming pools. We had one in a family rest house but it cracked due to an earthquake. Are there modern solutions to make it sturdier and which materials do you recommend other than just adding concrete? Thanks a lot for educating us!
I love the idea of the tree within the house proper. But, do we need to worry about the roots growing underneath the concete? Sorry if i missed anything, i am half listening while working.
The design is not practical. Its a house made for a billionaire who doesnt mind wasting money just for giggles. I dont see this working out in a place like the Philippines.
It can work out, but you need to build it in a very exclusive subdivision made for millionaires/billionaires where the lot area would cost you around 15 Million to 20 Million including the landscape 🤣. You are right, it's not practical. 😁
I was waiting for this comment 😂 I wont pretend to know anything about architecture and engineering but it just didn't seem right. It seemed like it was lacking a couple of important parts, but that's just how I felt while watching
@@lesterreyes8548 i could think of a hundred reasons why its not practical. I'll start now. This is in no particular order. In a tropical country much like the Philippines, bugs be it insects during the day or the night will come terrorize you. Imagine switching on your bedroom lights and 9999999999 bugs comes swarming around your lights? Dengue-carrying mosquitoes? Your neighbours no matter how far they are, would probably accidentally witness the owners doing the deed during the day or in the dead of night. You'll be giving the akyat bahays a favour with this terrible design. Imagine the headlines saying : Family of 3 killed in apparent home invasion; investigators says there was no force entry **shrugs**
I also see it that way sir John, not practical in a tropical country at not very fortified na kayang nakawan ng madali. But Sir Slater said that they might add more as it is not complete and up for an upgrade. We hope na they add some curtain walls or actual walls and replace those exposed perforated wood walls at least if they try to materialize the house in the future. On the bright side, I try to look at its aesthetics na lang to see its beauty.
Can you make one for introverted people? This house design shouts so much energy of an extrovert lol. Please include professional fees always when costing. Edit: You are amazing
That mango tree is beautiful, but I guarantee it will give you so many problems down the road. Swinging in wind, branches falling, leaves. Won't be good for a delicate house in a typhoon.
Concern: that area on the 2nd floor part of the mango tree where you can lounge, if therell be heavy rain, wouldnt it be a cause for water problems? Great video tho 😊
i believe slater mentioned that there well be waterproofing also i guess they will consider putting a linear drains. There are still a lot of factors that might change on the actual as he clearly said that this is on a concept stage
Same concern. I think they'll be adding an open drain sa ground floor for the runoff water. Pero everything is still on its early stages of conceptualization. Kudos to Slater and LLG Architects!!!
Another interesting and inspiring concept na naman Engr, thanks a lot pero pwede nyo po ba ilagay ang lot at floor area nito Engr. Salamat kaayo. You’re making me proud as Cebuano jud Engr.
It’s a new year with bright and beautiful ideals , hope you’ll got a huge list for this 2021 . Coz last year was messed up due to many weren’t wise enough to consider investment . But the question, what will you achieve this year?
I almost slept at the streets last year when my rent was due 😭 but thanks to a friend who introduced me to Mrs Sophie Clare Williams ,a financial adviser.
Mrs Sophie Clare Williams is holding a very high prestige and reputation in personal financial management. I’m happy you mentioned her. My wife recommended her to me after investing 3 grand and she really helped us in times of this bad pandemic crisis. I’m close to my retirement and this has been and well remain a good survival for me
It's an aesthetically pleasing house but I'm wondering if it would collapse like a house of cards during an earthquake, especially if the slab ceiling was heavier as you mentioned. The light airy feel is nice but, is this actually appropriate in a climate near the equator where reducing the temperature of the home should be the primary consideration? Light and airflow are important but shading should be primary in order to reduce sun exposure on the house surfaces.
How would you shade the roof though? You could canopy the second level.. or if no second level then what? Would thick grass or Bermuda grass help cut down on the temperature? Or something else? I'm also wondering how safe this would be in the PI because of earthquakes, or would you just add a few more beams throughout?
Hi! If you’re looking for a 1.5M house, and being practical wth 2bedroom, Carport and Garden included with peripheral fencing. I can recommend somewhere :)
Just a sort of question what if the rain comes. The open portion of the slab in the Mango tree for sure the floor down will get flooded. I suggest on the ground floor around the tree to put indoor plant. Overall design was great. Modern minimalist.
Ive been watching ur vlogs in a while now....pero....itong video nato talaga ang ngpapa “subscribed” sakin eh😄 this is the type of house na gusto ko yong open spaces and the glass walls n roof deck😍😍😍😍😍it’s like u designed this intentionally for me?😝🥰😂😂😂bonus pa yong pond😁 btw taga cebu diay ka😲 nganong karon ramanko kebaw😱🤣🤣🤣
Thank you soooo much for this post! We’re so close to reaching this amount to put up a home for my kiddos!!! (So we can kick them out of our home and so we can be alone na... 😁😁😁)
Favorable on large land area property without any noise from nearby houses or roads. Another thing is how will be the security be implemented on this design? In the Philippines, consider typhoons too, animals or insects might get in easily or uninvited guest in middle of the night. Overall design is very sleek and beautiful.
Woah! Ayos! The house exterior and interior is not bad. Actually for me I like it a lot Kuya Architect Slater kasi it's like a breath of fresh air lang. Ganda! 😊🎉

I was expecting a more kind of like liveable space for ordinary people. I mean if you are on a budget, you cannot expect one to have a big lot. I would also consider a more secured house than this. For me it feels like a 'tambayan' for the rich peeps that is worth 1.5M.
Ang ganda po!!! I would love to have it as mine or have it built as my own home.. Exquisite desig! It may look inexpensive or simple dream house yet so beautiful. I love the landscaping design, too.
Hi , i see the cantelever after the planters, slope to drain, straight to finish, we have a 5 coat water based elastomeric exposed type waterproofing system that terminates on the thickness of the slab. the planters are applied with a water based ROOTS resitant PU the entire floor area if you like will also be coated with foot traffic elastomeric system. no more concrete topping on your slab that will add weight on your beam less slab.
@@cristinaremo6878 As what he said "this is just a concept" and " wag nyo copyahin kasi madami pang hindi naconsider" if only you listened in the first 4 minutes of the video
@@normj14 those are valid concerns that was glossed over by calling this a concept. The challenge was to make a budget house and that implies that it should livable. This is a concept house that barely fits the 1.5m budget restriction.

Wow. the intro. 👏🏻 competitive RUclipsr na si Sir Slater. 😂😂 i see those transitions and a lil acting. Bro! Level up. 😂
Ur aura is so cool which iś good vibes to ur introducing houses that we can watching for..it derive us clear and smooth
How much does it cost to hire an architect for a house like in this video?
I like how Slater's giving us a quality educational content :) Not a vlogging content lang like some youtubers.
True!
Next challenge: Design a house on a smallest possible lot.

Same here pls make one

*I'm an Engineer too, I appreciate Sir Slater for this project :)*
Waiting for archi llyan to make a reaction video about this house plan. Who's with me??
Hi Slater! Really nice proposal. It reminds me of precedent work of the Barcelona Pavillon and The Farnsworth House but a hybrid of both! Cool stuff.
Bravo! Salute!
Hi. I noticed that alot of locals sound very concerned about security. Does this mean that there are alot of home invasions in Cebu?
Watching your vids convinced me to really get a professional help in bldg my future home! We had a really bad experience encountering an architect that is off the hook! We trusted him too much, and it’s our fault of not being careful but we really had no idea how to be involved and what to expect! But thank you so much Engr Slater coz you and Arch. Llyan Austria have really good content and educating us so well! Kudos to your videos and always waiting for your great contents! I am really learning a lot!
Slater's Channel is so underrated. He deserves millions of subscribers! 💓✨😭
You can get what he got now in just few months ! But the question is how right ? Well I will tell you meet a professional who can help you trade your Capital to profits you will earn for sure
If you have ever hear a name on RUclips talking about a lady called Kelly shabz Jasmine don’t waste time contact her and start making money madam.

with a proper storage, this is perfect!
plus good location
This is exactly the kind of house I'm looking to build in the Philippines. Very organic, yet contemporary is design and feel. I love it!!! Would love to have professionals build this design for me. Are you the architect?
he's the engr
I really love the Aesthetic of the house, and i love the floating effect that Sir Slater did on the flooring.
The design of the house is very raw thats why if you dont have enough budget to fully finish it, you dont have too, you can take your time to save up money then continue with the building of the house. 😊😁😁
Merry Christmas ang Happy new year!
What other finishes does it need?
Lamok is waving at this house.
thats why he mentioned it as a flexible design , you could replace those things with sliding glass walls if the owner have a bigger budget.
May mga plants na anti lamok
Mag garden ka lng ng anti lamok plants hahaha
@@modernaamakan4903 hindi totoo yung mga anti lamok na plants.
The pond and key plants will encourage for dragonflies to live nearby thus reduce mosquitos on the perimeter. :D
This feels more like a party pavilion for rent rather than a home. Its design and aesthetic is great though. Great job!
Ang dami kong concern sa design concept na ito. Naistress ako 😅 kung thesis project ito baka ginisa na to ng mga panelists 😅
like what
So excited to conceptualize our own home. Thank you for your always very helpful inputs Sir Slater! Awesome design LLG! 👌
I am recently hired as a Public school teacher. Planning to build my dream house. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow, lume-level up na si Slater!! Love the intro 💛✨
This gives me so much ideas for the future.
Wish you the best future.
I love the concepth!! So refreshing!!
If made how do you account for the mango tree growth, its roots damaging concrete floors and pilars?
One problem though, would be the ants & termites that usually lives in areas with big trees.

Slater ang gwapo mo talaga. Matalino na, gwapo pa.
The real tree on the 2nd floor is really cute, hahaha ...what a nice area to relax after a brain blowing work😃❤
So nice of you to share your knowledge to us. Big Thank you!

@@cremadepruta6074 Easy fun for us. It's not easy money because it takes a lot of effort to make those videos.
love the industrial design and feel but they really designed a house with no walls 😂
Also would like to see your thoughts about swimming pools. We had one in a family rest house but it cracked due to an earthquake. Are there modern solutions to make it sturdier and which materials do you recommend other than just adding concrete? Thanks a lot for educating us!
Wow, I totally love this concept. I'm looking for ideas/inspiration and this has certainly given me some. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I was waiting for this comment 😂
I wont pretend to know anything about architecture and engineering but it just didn't seem right.
@@johntonguecruz2404 it’s not practical period.
That first 40 secs is like peter mckinnon. Awesome🔥

Can you make one for introverted people? This house design shouts so much energy of an extrovert lol. Please include professional fees always when costing.
Edit: You are amazing
Wow! It's a beautiful house! Great concept! I could live there!!
Dude this is awesome, ganda ng concept, sobrang romantic tas pag siguro nilagyan ng mga lights sa roof top ang romantic siguro
That mango tree is beautiful, but I guarantee it will give you so many problems down the road. Swinging in wind, branches falling, leaves. Won't be good for a delicate house in a typhoon.
Not too mention it will eventually destroythe house because of the roots.
Intro feels like im going to watch an MKBHD video 😂
Peace ✌️
Concern: that area on the 2nd floor part of the mango tree where you can lounge, if therell be heavy rain, wouldnt it be a cause for water problems? Great video tho 😊
as he said this is just a concept there were many things that weren't considered
i believe slater mentioned that there well be waterproofing also i guess they will consider putting a linear drains. There are still a lot of factors that might change on the actual as he clearly said that this is on a concept stage
Same concern. I think they'll be adding an open drain sa ground floor for the runoff water. Pero everything is still on its early stages of conceptualization. Kudos to Slater and LLG Architects!!!
@@jelbertrobles7875 What do you mean by linear drains?
@@thirdforth92 Or just slope the first floor?
This looks like a Mid Century design that you would see up in the Hollywood Hills here in LA. Beautiful house!

Thank you brother, I love this fresh style 🌱✨
Rest house or vacation house pwede. Pero kung gagawing bahay talaga, hindi practical for 1.5 million.
Hi! If you’re looking for a 1.5M house, and being practical wth 2bedroom, Carport and Garden included with peripheral fencing. I can recommend somewhere :)
✨IT'S THE WHOLE SET AND MONTAGE FOR ME✨
Create one in Palawan, I live in El Nido since 2017 when I left Makati. No earthquakes here so that is one issue you don't have to worry about...
No earthquakes in Palawan?
Just a sort of question what if the rain comes. The open portion of the slab in the Mango tree for sure the floor down will get flooded.
I suggest on the ground floor around the tree to put indoor plant. Overall design was great. Modern minimalist.
Do you mean a circular pot around the base of the tree with plants in it?
Ive been watching ur vlogs in a while now....pero....itong video nato talaga ang ngpapa “subscribed” sakin eh😄 this is the type of house na gusto ko yong open spaces and the glass walls n roof deck😍😍😍😍😍it’s like u designed this intentionally for me?😝🥰😂😂😂bonus pa yong pond😁 btw taga cebu diay ka😲 nganong karon ramanko kebaw😱🤣🤣🤣

Someone's been watching daniel schiffer and peter mckinnon
Favorable on large land area property without any noise from nearby houses or roads. Another thing is how will be the security be implemented on this design? In the Philippines, consider typhoons too, animals or insects might get in easily or uninvited guest in middle of the night. Overall design is very sleek and beautiful.
Any thoughts about how to keep a place like this more secure?
Woah! Ayos! The house exterior and interior is not bad. Actually for me I like it a lot Kuya Architect Slater kasi it's like a breath of fresh air lang. Ganda! 😊🎉

Literally my dream house but with a few guest rooms 🥺💛
I was expecting a more kind of like liveable space for ordinary people. I mean if you are on a budget, you cannot expect one to have a big lot. I would also consider a more secured house than this. For me it feels like a 'tambayan' for the rich peeps that is worth 1.5M.
walang walls-- so dapapt malaki si garden. Lol.
tambayan
How do you address: 1)Mosquitoes/Insects 2)Opportunistic Thieves 3)Birds/bird poop
Exactly my concern, how about the safety & security against "opportunistic thieves" 😂😂😂 especially when you have to leave for a long weekend holiday.

@@normj14 those are valid concerns that was glossed over by calling this a concept. The challenge was to make a budget house and that implies that it should livable. This is a concept house that barely fits the 1.5m budget restriction.
