    Being mindful of where the sun rises and sets.. When building, avoid these heat / hot spots and have those big glass windows and doors in cooler areas. Many clients do not see the benefits of these despite advise of professionals before making those blue prints.

    • @ravensarkitv2519
      @ravensarkitv2519 3 года назад +3

      Nope, maybe they try to consider that. But still the decision is still on the client. Because i experienced it, that i explained and discuss everything to the client but they insisted that they want a large window. So, as a result they regret there decision. The lesson here always listen to the professionals suggestion.

      This is just my opinion, other professionals in this channel may have better solutions.
      Heat needs to escape.
      Trapped heat happens when roof is too low, has no air vents , no insulation before the ceiling.
      Quick fix are: install a wall exhaust fan to bring warm air out. Put/add thicker insulation between roof and ceiling. Also, check air vents at the end corners of the roof, use larger L-shaped vents if yours is none or too small.
      Medium fix is if your roof has an A-frame, install gable vents between the A slope. Vents can be made of louvre metal or wood.
      Major fix - in your next renovation or new home, consider a roof pitch of 30 degrees to allow better air circulation.

  • @sylviamendoza2097
    @sylviamendoza2097 Год назад +2

    I live in florida where we have hurricanes..during the renovation,I remember that I was not allowed to have big overhangs due to hurricane issues. With strong hurricane winds, the expansive overhangs will contribute to the possibility of the roof being blown off easily from the rest of the house. This is something to make note of in hurricane prone areas!

    My take on this is parang mas madaming cons kaysa sa pros sa glass house nila and I appreciate their honesty about it. We just built our house too ( may not be as new anymore because we’ve been living on it for just over 2 years) and like kryz i like seeing outside and not feeling constricted inside the house. We didn’t make the house “full glass” but just the living room making it a cathedral ceiling with almost the same height of windows. I love it! And We just installed blinds, the ones that you can totally blocked the sun out in the middle of the day.

    Beautiful house! Suggestions: 1. To lower electricity bill: solar panels on the roof - the AC works hardest when the sun shines. Also provides insulation by preventing direct sunlight on the metal roof. 2. Rolling shutters or something similar * on the outside* - before the sun can get inside and heat up everything. These also work well to block out the sun. 3. German style tilt windows - preferably double-pane. They don't just tilt, these also open the whole way. They just tilt differently.

      You must be talking of a simple 2 glass paneled windows that are ubiquitous in many houses in the Philippines, that’s why you said they “gather up moisture in between the two panels”. For your education, the true dual pane window is filled with argon and air-tight sealed. Either you saw a cheap 2 panel glass window or a cracked/sealing gone bad dual pane window, ok?

    My takeaway from this: a glass house requires at least a 3 ha property if you need privacy. Otherwise, your property boundary needs full greenery/berming to couple your full-protection wall fence. The greenery will achieve the fresh natural atmosphere you seek in building a glass house.

    I used to want to live in a glass house but I find it difficult to find a secure off-the-grid property in South or North Luzon. It really has to be in a secluded place so you’ll have privacy but it also needs to be secured so you know no one would attempt to sneak inside your house while you’re asleep.
    Anyway, thank you for the need on double glass panel for sound insulation when living in the city 😊 The transformer also seems interesting. I’ll check it out.
    And getting lectures from a husband from a different industry is really fun. You get to learn more about other industries. So since my husband is in the I.T. industry, I get to learn more about his industry as well as blockchain technology 😊

You are being honest to admit that the glass used should have been dual-pane glass where internal temperature is optimized between hot or cold environments; aside from insulating against noise which I could see is not a problem at the moment. Thickness of glass depends on the size of glass windows, your glass contractor should know that and should comply with what is in the building code and should consider that typhoon frequently hits Bicol region. Thicker glass normally has a green color, bec of the iron oxide content in it. • @King-2077
      @King-2077 2 года назад

      The answer is yes, madalas ang dust sa bahay, there’s no escaping that. My house isnt a glass house but we have to clean everyweek because dust bunnies are always present despite the fact na enclosed ang bahay namin. We have lots of trees din gaya ng kanila but we dont open our windows because of dust and pollen. Btw sa US kami nakatira sa east coast so may 4 season and it gets cold here. So imagine a house like them when they have fresh air coming in all the time, the amount of dust na meron sila is probably 5x na mas madami. But they have maids to do their cleaning so it doesn’t bother them.

    This is always what I thought about glass houses: Greenhouse effect. Not that I can afford to have a glass house. But If I can afford it, yes, might as well invest in solar panels for sustainability (esp for the AC)

    You might also want consider "thermally broken" aluminum frames to go with the double glaze low-e Glass panels. It helps with the heat transfer. Di ko lang alam if available na ung technology sa pinas. :)

    At the end of the day guys, marami talagang cons. Nasa pag-uusap iyan. Advantage ang may idea sa structure and anesthetics. To me sa Pilipinas kung tinted ang glass, okay sa akin. Ang mahirap is Philippines has MONSOON RAINS! dinadaanan tayo ng bagyo. Most parts are over the fault line nililindol tayo. Kaya amazing may glass house! Kaso maraming risk factors kasi anlaki ng glass na ginamit sa house nila. I wonder how much handling cost Nila sa glass na iyan. .

    There is a lot of big windows and slidings doors in our house and we chose to have double glazed glassess,not only because it is sound proof, but also it can save energy.

    Totally agree with the girl. Natural light is key. Most homes in the US are very dark and no thought to solar gain.

    I can feel the pain just by looking at the house design, Yes at times init gyud. Ka remember ko when i was in college (architecture) permi i revise ako design bcoz my profsr was skeptical about my all-glass building bcz it will cost so much on electrcty due to the high demand of ac units. He said its a good design if its in Germany, not in the Philippines. Haha Pero if you like that look then why not? Importante lang you have to embrace the cons 😃 for me though- id prefer modern mediterranean as it is comfortable, practical and has a timeless look to it. also, a
    glass house sa bukid for vacation use only haha

    Madami talagang factor when designing tropical shelter. Applying curtain walls and shade (vertical, horizontal or egg crate) to your windows are the usual solutions, but since it is glass house, I think the most applicable solution is to incorporate sun path diagram, to design the right ledge or overhang length of your roof.
    And base sa laki ng window nila, maliit talaga yung designed ledge for now, kasi floor to ceiling
    If too much ang overhang length, you can consider using additional vertical louver kahit sa facade lang ng room.
    Kaya uso ang brise soleil design sa Pinas before mas nauso lang talaga modern contemporary ngayon.
