- Watch the all-new debut trailer for Dishonored.
Dishonored casts you as a supernatural assassin driven by revenge. You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with strange technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man.
In Dishonored, creatively eliminate your targets with the flexible combat system as you combine the numerous supernatural abilities, weapons and unusual gadgets at your disposal. Pursue your enemies under the cover of darkness or ruthlessly attack them head on with weapons drawn. The outcome of each mission plays out based on the choices you make.

still convinced this would be the best movie ever.
I doubt anyone will read this but it has to be said how grounded Corvo is in this trailer. Post mark, even though he is incredibly powerful, he still makes mistakes. The brief scrabble for grip on the rooftops, getting spotted in the keyhole, the unplanned exit through the window that took him off his feet; these all help show that the protagonist definitely will murder his way to his goals but he's not a perfect, flawless killing machine. I've seen this trailer a dozen times and details like these that make me appreciate the work that went into this even more.
I've read it :)
I've read it :)
✅
True
This is masterpiece
4 years later and this video only has a bit more than 1 million views? Dishonored needs to be honored, more.
Now *THAT* is a great trailer.
It perfectly captures the feeling of actually playing the game. What a great game. Can't wait for the sequel.
.
While I think the Assassins Creed CGI trailers are great, this one is way better, because it's badass and you can do everything in the real game.
+Bass Lightyeah - Yep, same with the Dishonored 2 trailer.
kdkseven We don't know yet, but let's hope it's that way. The powers, sure, and maybe this weird changing room.
Bass Lightyeah - According to Game Informer, the 'changing' room is indeed playable, and there are secret areas to be discovered behind the moving panels. You should check out their excellent coverage.
kdkseven I did, but maybe I missed that information. Great coverage however, the screenshots look insane.
10 years later still a masterpiece.
I've been replaying this recently, and I only now find it funny that despite Sokolov creating the Talboys, wall of light and other futuristic inventions, the people of Dunwall still shit in spitoons.
That's because there was demand from the Lord Regent for Sokolov to create those militaristic technologies, but there is no one paying a high price for toilets.
i just finished Bioshock Infinite, reminded me of this!
That Mask Though, beautiful and terrifying
Way better than any Assassins Creed
thanks
A billion times better. I don't see this becoming a sequel, but I feel like that makes it it even greater. I mean, think about it. Hhow many great games, books and movies have been ruiner by making a sequel? I think that dishonored is good this way. I don't know, maybe a few more DLC's, but other than that...
Derpy Hooves There is a Dishonored 2 in the makings, there was a leaked pic of a sheet describing the new things it'll have, but it was supposed to appear at E3 2014, however Bethesda is gonna have it's own conference in this years E3 2015 so i think that is suspicious. I just hope it wont become an Open-world game. Bigger doesnt mean better. it most times mean watered down in quality. Supposedly the game will take place in Tyvia. But that sheet might as well be fake all together ( which is likely since it was saying about E3 2014 and it didnt happen )
+OmnomTheDevourer Yep. I avoided Dishonored back in 2012 because despite this excellent trailer, i thought is was gonna be *too* Assassin's Creed-y, a series that i could never get into-- the parkour controls were too wonky, and the world, while beautiful to look at, was actually pretty boring to explore. But i picked up the Definitive Edition recently and man am i glad i did. This game is most certainly no Assassin's Creed. The controls are great, the mechanics are deep, and the world is fun to explore... and huge... and gorgeous). Bring on Dishonored 2.
And you have multiple choices for everything. You can through the game without killing a single soul.
Imagine a Dishonored 2 with these graphics...could be the best game ever
The way how Dishonored ended, hmm i don't think there will be a second game xD
it is very likely they have built a great world for it, just choose a diifferent place and protagonist
Hmmm maybe >:3
***** um dude it already got announced
***** :OO Where can i find a teaser or something?
This game was so much fun
I have no idea why people say it's ANYTHING like Assassin's Creed. It's absolutely nothing like AC, it's its own game, it's extremely unique and has nothing similar to AC.
Literally a perfect video game.
Oh believe me, this game requires stealth if you're to be efficient. Second favorite game of all time
...so what was number one?
After 10 years I came back to this masterpiece which motivated my career path more than anything so far.
What is your career
This game had no right being this good.
They don't make games like these anymore.
This looks more like for a film than the game... are they going to do a film of dishonored ?
No, I don't think a film based on this game could be good...
I just hope a Dishonored 2, on next gen, then it will be visually like in this trailer :D
MrSpaarkky It's happening :D
Lord Mark Of course I admit.
Not afraid to say it's probably the best I've seen in the last 3 years.
That's why I don't want a movie based on this one.
It's always the same problems, no one can perfectly build a movie based on a universe that has been thought for a game. And it would be even worse with an art-style as brilliant as Dishonored's one.
i just noticed something at the 2 minute mark thats the empress when daud tried to grab emily
The best thing in this trailer is that unlike other assassin games at 3:35 there is no messing around, kills him then gets out of there. So many games make big deals of out killing targets and extend it and have long arse cut scenes about it. Assassins kill people and move on, they rarely take time to question it, especially not every target.
haha I can't actually bring myself to be high chaos though... makes me too sad to see everything go to shit (plus then Sam doesn't like you anymore!) I do love how fucking scary Corvo is when you go that route though
I wonder what's canon though. Developers prefer the non lethal options, the trailers the lethal. I think it's lethal until corvo spares daud, then low chaos. But hey, if you look at the ending sequence, the major outcpmes are the same.
@@basslightyeah It's non lethal. The whole point of the game is to kill the least amount of people to retain your innocence.
Is the guy that Corvo kills in the game? The only person that looks like that guy is Barrister Timsh but he's killed by Daud.
I think that is the Spymaster/Lord Regent
I'm going to guess you haven't played it.
Being on roofs does not = Assasssin's Creed.
Main character having a hood does not = Assassin's Creed.
Killing people using stealth does not = Assassin's Creed.
The gameplay is nowhere even similar to Assassin's Creed.
"Killing me won't solve any--"
lol
Dishonored sold really well. Almost 500,000 boxed copies in North America alone in its first month. Add the rest of the world, and steam downloads, and you have seriously impressive figures.
Games like COD and AC3 will always get more spent on advertising than a new title, because they are well established games. They can risk spending millions on TV ads because they know COD will easily make that money back.
With a new game like Dishonored they have no way of knowing how well it will sell.
No ma'm. Here's a little bit from one of many articles."We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise." I'm so glad to hear this :D
Dang, and to think it's for free until tomorrow on steam.
Legendary game by Arkane studios and best dislogue "there chances of whiskey and cigars tonight " yes indeed.
So that's what crovo looks like.
Oh, i never went on a chaos play through. :D
+Joshua Ellson
There's chaos however you play. If you kill or don't kill, whatever you do to the targets will end in Light or dark chaos
If you play in low Chaos, Emily draws pictures of you and puts them up in your bedroom.
3:37 - That's the Barrister. He only appears in the DLC, Knife of Dunwall, says that line, "Killing me won't solve anything", but it's not Corvo meeting him. It's Daud...having some matters to discuss with him. Genius.
Everything in here has been done already but it still looks pretty cool.
I just looked at imdb, and of course another game with "whores". Why is it that these game developers constantly make women for sale in these games. What does this tell all the young men who play these games?? Im so sick of it, i downloaded this game but im deleting it. Im taking a stand, i wont spend one dollar on games that show such trash!
Aww, that's just super c:
I can see your point and I agree with you but I think the idea was more to show the how horrible humans can be, and that even in times of plauge where everyone around them is dead and dying they still continue these vile acts. Also you are aiming to kill or overthrow the poeple who are going to this place.
Joshua TWEWY
ah i see, interesting
pfhahaha aand another dumb feminist here -.- mabe cry ?
Yeah, I agree with Joshua. I too did notice almost all women were whores or servants but this is supposed to be a corrupt horrible world, turned out to be so by the assassination of its ruler, who was a woman.
I was instantly sold after seeing this trailer on TV. Preordered the game immediately
One of the greatest game dyliogy's of all time
Thank you Arkane Studios
bioshock had a tense atmosphere resembling this one but in this instance you are correct.
Just bought it.Played the first missions. Awesome awesomeness in perfection. 100% recommended.
it's one of those things that are a mixture between the past and the present, like 'The series of unfortunate events'
Damn, can't believe you haven't heard of it till now. You should def. get it, you will not regret it.
It's like every game Bethesda publishes always have the best cinematic trailers.
If a game is so good that it can sell itself, it needs no commercials.
I loved the feel of the world. It felt like there was so much more going on outside of the story of the game. I really want to see more of that world, whether in a game or a comic or whatever.
I usually never play these types of games but recently got into this and fallout 3. Its one of those games where it may not seem all that fun at first but the longer you play the more hooked you get.
I finished twice on Brutal. Dark vision and blink are my best friends. I use sleep darts when spotted to avoid killing too
If the game would have had graphics like this or we actually got to see corvo's face and outfit once in awhile ...damn I would have been in love with dishonored.
man I love how the graphic in the trailer looks :)
You do realize this game sold way more than they expected... So much that they are going to make this into a franchise...
Life needs to upgrade to the quality of this video.
Got this game a day ago and cant stop playin it
Hells yeah we will. maybe 10 years or so.
This makes me think of steampunk meets assassins creed. I need to play this immediately!
easily my favourite game ive ever played, I want to see a lot more dishonoured stuff coming out, absolutely loved it
this Trailer is in Blizzard quality and that is something to be proud of!
first time playing. now I'm looking for the rock I was living under to bash my head how good this game is
Playing it right now :) Came back for the nostalgia
I said little in comparaison with other AAA games. Here in Europe there was little to no marketing campaign. No tv spots, no advertising in newspapers. Mouth to mouth and viedos on specialised websites were the only ways to hear about this game.
After GW2 trailer, this was what i needed! Faith in trailers: Restored!
was randomly looking up the companies involved in Dark Messiah: of Might and Magic(one of my favorite games) to see if the creative muscle went on to do anything else and holy shit, if the game has half the effort as this cinematic ill be satisfied.
What are you talking about? Bioshock is based in the 1960's, in a city that was built in the 40's. Dishonoured is not based in the future, the city of Dunwall is supposed to reflect late Victorian London.
I'm going to rent this for sure!
Revenge solves nothing! "Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering." - Yoda
One year anniversary celebration!
Its like a futuristic AC! I cannot WAIT!
It's OUT!!! WOOHOO!
Love the Chaos Meter in this game.
at the time that this trailer was first time released
...I didn't know that this game was going to be a legend
One of the best games I've played in years
dont notice the killer robot-skull mask, just the Trench coat and you know your in for the real deal
The game is brilliant, many games boast multiple ways of getting to your objective but Dishonored is the first I've played where you aren't shoehorned into two or three. I've played through twice, and I'm on my third, and already I've done things completely differently than my previous playthroughs.
we rly need a movie on this...
I went on an rampage for everysingle on of its missions.
This is the coolest game trailer I have ever seen
the higher difficulties make the enemies more perceptive, you find less resources, and you take more damage.
Without any hesitation!
This strongly reminds me of V for Vendetta, too awesome. Just wish there were one or two more CG videos like this in the game.
More stealth than Assassin's Creed by a longshot
Like 2 hours into this game I was like I haven't been this pulled in and amazed since bio shock or half life . This game is a good example of what the industry lacks. I'm glad for originality.
1, This wasnt made by Bethesda, it was published by them
2, It offers a good way for the player to work their way up
3:44 - Wuld, Na Kesh!
This dude is a Dragonborn!
Its true they were so shocked by sales that they decided to make a sequal which i would like to see
bioshock is an fps that is mostly linear with a mostly linear story and a is all about saving little sisters from big daddies so you can obtain adam.
The gameplay of Dishonored is mainly based around player choice, the levels non-linear unlike Bioshock's corridors blocked by gates. Dishonored lets you possess people, teleport, stop time, and mix every ability together in whatever combination than just electricity to water or fire to oil like Bioshock. You can go through the game killing no one.
I am way to happy and excited right now.
Thank you very much for your reply. I appreciate a straight answer. Enjoy your game.
One of my favorite games, and it's a more recent game as well! I get the same sort of happy feelings with this game as I do with older games from my childhood like KOTOR.
Dude, literally, same
JesterTB It's nice when I find games that do that, especially considering I only played this game for the first time about a year and a half ago, I think, whereas I first played KOTOR when I was 12, and other childhood games (such as Ratchet and Clank) when I was even younger.
Man: "Killing me won't solve anything!"
Me as Corvo: "No. But it will make me feel better"
It's' an Honor to watch this trailer.
Funny thing about this game is: if you chose one way of playing and use it untill the very end - you will miss minimum 50% of the content, but if you will play again, you might just not find this content because you already know how some things were done and you will not even think about other solutions in most ways. Only exception is the ending of the game.
I agree. I've never even heard of this game until today when I read the VG cats comic. I want this game now.
Looks like it has elements from HL2 and the Combine. Also great style, combination of: the past, the future and something artistic. :)
Yes, and there are other reasons aswell..like Pendleton saying something about Corvo screwing the empress. and the Outsider, in the end, saying this about Emily, "because you are more to her, than a Lord Protector"
I AM WAY TOO EXCITED RIGHT NOW.
This isn't much like the game itself but the game was still amazing and I loved it. It is probably one of my favorite games ever!
i can recall 3 times you get to see corvo's face
I think that this guy, "The raven" will be a damn badass!
Look at his powers.
Look at the story.
It will be an honor fight with him.
Add a little HL2 in there, and I think you've got it.
I haven't played 3 and I'll take your word that it's a stealth game. Took em long enough.
A legend is born...
Dishonored was regularly #1 on the best-seller charts. I'm not sure how that's possible if it "sold the worst". Google "dishonored sales" if you want to see for yourself.
If there's one thing I learned about the gaming industry in my years it's this: Dev's that are afraid to show gameplay and instead throw out a flashy CGI trailer are up to no good.
they still have a point; this is a lot like bioshock and assassin's creed mashed together.
So this is what Sawyer has been up to since Lost finished...
HL2 + Fable 1-3 + Splinter Cell with supernatural powers and a knife = this
