- Rare Earth - Preparate/Get Ready Full Long Version! I understand this was really popular in Chile as well as here in the U.S., so disfrutalo!! (enjoy!)
Get Ready is the second studio album by rock band Rare Earth, released in 1969. The album version of "Get Ready" was often played in full at college gatherings. It was a percursor to the 12 inch dance singles. And then, of course, the edited version would eventually become a pop hit.
You will feel the same way hearing this at 61, as you did when you first heard this at 16. Trust me.
Awesome tune.
I think 🙂👌👍✌
74 and still loving it 💕
Oh yeah. I'm 64 and still love it!
You're absolutely right. I'm 70 and I still love this song.
I'm 73, everything is still in my head
This record changed my life. Hearing my neighbor two flights down in 1974 in Argentina beating the crap out of the drums to this album! Became friends after that!
One of the best tracks of the 70's with the exceptional drum solo of Peter Rivera.
One of the best damn songs ever recorded. Period. I have spoken.
hehehehehehe - too cute
still great music. First time I enjoyed it in 1970 and still now after 49 years.
if you don't know about rare Earth. smoke a joint , then you will understand. I grew up , with them. ultimate music by Rare Earth. I love them boys.
Haven't heard any deliberate instrumental harmony like this in my life. When they hit I feel some incredible sense of wellbeing...extra ecstasy, if you like. You almost touch the feelings...it's greeeaaat!
Masterpiece my late Mother use to play this in the 70's South Chicago when I was growing up and I use to get tired of hearing it, now I'm 55 and can't get enough of hearing it!!
Norman Whitfield...!
I'm there man!
Wonderful isn't it. I miss the early 70's music......ALL of it.
OOOOH YEAH, THE WEST SIDE OF CHICAGO WAS ROCKING TOO, SPEAKERS HANGING OUT THE WINDOW OOOH YEAH.
.........
Went on a natural high no stimulants with this piece. Awesome song til this day. Tamborine rocked. These guys had soul. Piano fading in rocked.
Rare Earth is one of my all time favorites.
They are the first white band to be signed by Motown records
They too are my favorite
Still sounds as fresh as when I first heard it all those many years ago! Highly under rated! Love Rare Earth!
Ha, this is great, brings back memories! I was 14 when this came out, this & In-A-Gadda- Da- Vida blew me away!
My brother-in-law got stationed in Korea in '69 and left me his vast record collection, turned me on to Velvet Underground, 13th Floor Elevators, Al Kooper's BS&T, Quicksilver, all excellent stuff that opened my eyes and ears for a music appreciation that lasts to today!
I first heard this song when I was in tenth grade, the teacher played for the class room,I don't remember why but what makes me remember this is the drummer, one of the best, the drum beats and the rythem👍👍👌👌
+juan jose Bonomo bendita juventud acumulada
semi-sinteticas y casi artificiales. Ohh Colombia ...I miss You.
One of BEST LIVE performances of all times - along with, off top of my head, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed - Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East. Song, Voices, Drums, Bass, Hammond, Sound, Mix, it's just f'in everything
Get ready by rare earth the best classic I ever heard
James Cuesta
I got hooked on this song in Nam. Everytime I got back to base camp I would just put my headset on and lay back and relax to this great song.
Thank you for your service Gbu always
Thank you for your service my friend. :)
@@presgallagher17 It was my Honor to have served..Even after all those years when I lay and listen to this song I can still smell the sand bag walls around my bunk..
I owned the vinyl album when I was a kid back in the early seventies. Totally loved it! Quite a listening experience.
Me too!
I still this album along with many more vinyls
Got this record from a friend in 1975; still have it : great music ! WHy don't they make music like this anymore nowadays ? Kind greetings from a Dutch Young girl of 57 years old, living in France !
Because their not talented enough theses days as when I was Rare Earth's age
Busca tierra rara- preparate
A masterful piece of music by an equally superb band. Memories are made of this!
My father don t remember that he makes me hear this song at the age of 5!
I will never forget this rock and groovy music!
it was like yesterday. I was playing this long version record----now a thing of the past, on the stereo back in 1971 in san Francisco, smoking panama red, and joined the marines July 12th 1971. now its 2016-retired and still strong!
God bless you.
same to you my friend!
thanks and God bless you. By the way do you have any of that Panama Red left?
@ Jack Sweeny. Haha! I gave up the weed back in 1975. was some good stuff though. take care friend.
71 in The City was a groovy place to be-I was only 10 but I felt the vibe and listened to K101 Radio and KFRC and then KSAN and in the 70 KMEL
Ah! I still remember partying, getting toasted and listening to this with strobelights & colorbar going at the same time, what a "Trip" that was back in the day!, I,m so glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's with all this great music, ;) thanks for posting it!:)
Richard Lucero Yes, there are benefits to being an old fart. I grew up in the same generation (64 years old).
I had a custom built speaker system and a 10 channel color organ system. Most fun I ever had building stereo gear. I listened to this, Innagaddavida and Light My Fire among othersn for hours on end.
same here!
ditto!
Excelente temazoo
For those wondering, the musicians are lead vocalist-drummer Pete Rivera, guitarist-backing vocalist Rod Richards, bassist John Parrish, keyboardist Kenny James, and saxophonist-flutist-backing vocalist Gil Bridges.
Right on brother these guys were tight!
All extremely talented!!!!

This song sums up the late sixties and early seventies pretty well for me.
George Parkins oh yeah me too!

Those were the days when musicians knew what they were doing with the instruments they played !!!
Que buen clásico de los años 70
Esta si es música. Un saludo desde el norte de Chile❤
That was and will be a real classic rock of all the time
Heck ya
I played this at midnight on a turntable on New Year's Eve in 1987-88 at the house I moved into after I finally moved out of my parents. 20 minutes of not having to man the turntable. Just wandering around the house, maintaining law & order, smokin' bowls and drinking champagne. Great memories.

I was there in the early 70-ties as a teenager, and still am here..... the best dance song ever....
Some music never gets old! Rock on !
THIS CUT IS A REAL SHOW STOPPER, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU'RE DOING, WHEN THIS IS PLAYED ATTENTION SHIFTS AND YOU ARE DRAWN AWAY INTO A FRENZIED MODE OF THOUGHT WHERE THERE IS FOR A TIME NO CARES, YOUR MIND IS FREED UP, THAT'S WHAT "GET READY" DOES TO YOU, YES EVEN TODAY. SO MANY OF MY FRIENDS DON'T HAVE THIS IN THEIR COLLECTION AND ARE ALWAYS SEEKING ME TO MAKE COPIES SO THEY TOO CAN "GET READY" TO GET IN THAT FRENZIED MODE OF THOUGHT ALL OVER AGAIN. KEEP "GETTIN READY", 49 YEARS HASN'T STOPPED IT YET!!!!
I will be 80yrs young this july 5th 2001 and i'm still jiving too this tune.⌚has been on my side.
i love so much this album since my adolescent age ...now im 62 yrs old still idolizing this music....
I've got the original LP from 1969, and still it works and has great sound...!😍🎸👏
The best band ever, and this one of their many KILLER tunes.
This hammond B3 solo is one of the best ever made , with Emerson ( ELP ) , Tom Foster ( Santana) and Rick Wakeman ( YES) ....He got all the sounds on his instrument and knows how he can drive them ...Great musicians ! Great Album ....Thanks CrisVangel to give us this full version
And don't forget the extraordinary solo of Peter Rivera on drums.
DaNang Air Base ‘70-‘71 Best era for great music. Listened to this music all the time.
Greatest of all time the long version of get ready awesome shit man.
2021 and I can remember back in the day, listening to this gem 💎 while guzzling down my olde English 800 by the quarts🍺🍺🍺🍺oh boy was the good olde days😊
Pete Rivera. Underrated drummer, one of the best, fantastic singer. This band is mindblowing.
one of best covers ever recorded!
i had forgotten this long version.got to love the 60s and 70s,new songs out almost daily
My Father chose this over a Stones album because it looked like a nap sac. This side of the whole vinyl We'd all get up and dance. Love this tune and hard to find anything on
it other than a 2 minute version, which sucks! Rare Earth is indeed rare and hard to find now,so I jammed for the whole tune once again 40+ years later! ;) Thank you so much!!!
Rare Earth Takes back to 1970,s and my struggle to get out My deep Blues In My Mind and Heart . Jake P Colorado
This is on the touchtunes jukebox, so if you wanna make sure no one gets in their crappy songs at the bar for at least 20 minutes, this is the go to.
Rare Earth is bad ass !! how many 12 year old kids can say they had Mr Eddie Guzman as their neighbor in Michigan !! God bless !!
UFF, Definitivamente una de las 3 Mejores Rolas de Todos los Tiempos;
Rene Looez coincido
Awesome classic... rocked our teen years.. unforgettable drums... Cheers..
Does anyone wonder what ever happened to these guys? Guess what, they're still around and playing! They put on a good show at the Blues Fest in London, ON August 28/16. Keep your eyes open and ears tuned, they may come to your town saying get ready 'cause here we come! Another great classic tune from days gone by.
Google it
Thank you so much...! .............. .
Luis 🙂👍❤🇨🇱💟👌✌
My mom use to bust this out back in the 70s on Saturday morning clean up...me and my brothers loved it then and til this day I still ROCK OUT with rare earth!! And I like rap music for real but this is my jam!
this is the song that made me want to be a drummer, one of the baddest beats and solo I've ever heard ya dig........some good shit.....
Now that I'm learning to play drums at 53, I remember this was the song which, when I was a teenager, made me fell in love with the sound of the rimshot. It's not an easy technique to master, but for me there's no other way to play the snare drum.
rare singing drummer, no pun intended
Aloha from Hawaii 🏝️
I'm 64 now and remember this growing up as a teen in Miami, that would of made me 13 turning 14, I thought this came out in 1970. They played at the stadium 🏟️ and we could hear them pretty good about a block or 2 away. Any long song in Rock music is always good 🎵🎶
Luis
I'm 58. My mother played this all the time. Along with the Abraxas album by Santana, the Green River album by CCR (which I teethed on by chewing the edges of the cover every time she played it). All great music I still enjoy today.
pure Motown!!!!! such a great band
Sorry this group was loooooong time before Motown..
Flashback indeed. I wore out this album back in '72 while a sophmore in High School. NO... my '68 Mustang did not have an 8 track. Thank You, for taking me back. !! Cuban Dave still grooving. lol
Manuel Flores Lara Tienes suerte hermano. Saludos desde Valpo!
Manuel Flores Lara Absolutamente
American history is not just war. It also consists of the best music that makes America unique in the world. What would popular music be without American influences? And now they are right back with worship music.
I was a kid when this came out. I am still looking this. I love rare earth.
No tan solo buenos recuerdos.
Chris Vangel1958....thank you..... I haven't heard this long version in decades! I love it. I wore this record out, back in the day. Listening to this and Santana, and Black Sabbath, Three Dog Night...man..... It's 1970 all over again!
Extremely underrated band! Just goes to show that the 1970's was crammed with so much talent that music still hasn't recovered to this day from the overdose of just raw energy!! 2nd best intro to Styx's Suite Madame Blue (Prelude) !!! :D
loved Styx...April Wynne..Moxy and Triumph..those Canadians...lmao.
Hmmm Mr. O’Connor you may very well be on to something there. 😊 I was born in ‘68 in San Antonio Tx. Yes I’m Mexican American but my aunts and uncles on both sides of the family were musically inclined to I grew up listening to an array of music and I recall on Friday nights as they all drank and played poker I was the dj and cut my teeth on lots music from the 70’s...it definitely was a decade to remember
Absolutly perfect work-out between different Genres in these times-sooo good .All members of the band are doing perfectly well-brilliant-I really get ready for this..........
I was in 6th grade when this came out. Me and my first girlfriend used to listen to it over and over.
peter rivera, the drummer and the lead vocalist of rare earth.....now a grand father, this man can still pound those drums
SADLY, THE KIT DRUM WASN'T THE BEST, FOR SURE, it sounds like hitting a wooden board

This brings back fun times. Many of us were just transitioning from 45s to LP. We had no idea this song was so long in a time of am stations. Thanks for the memory blast!

"RARE EARTH" WAS THE BEST BAND WITH EXCELLENT QUALITY MUSIC
DURING THE 70'S ERA AND WILL
REMAIN A EXQUISITE DELIGHT
WITH THIS UNFORGETTABLE
CLASSIC THAT'S A VERY
PRECIOUS DIAMOND JEWEL
"GET READY"
just want to smoke a big joint and lay there....the singer which later I learned was the drummer never got his royalties as he should have.. amazing him just like the singer of blood sweat and tear...those are really singer not the crap studio made stuff these days .. thanks bro.
one of those songs that sticks with you. I was 16 listening to this early 70's on 8 track player under dash of my car. Great time to be alive in this country don't let anyone tell you any different.
I have no idea how I ended up with such a cool album - I was nowhere near this cool. I do remember listening to it in the early 70s over and over - until the fateful day when the album slipped out of its sleeve and landed vertically on the ceramic floor, gouging a small hole right near the outer edge, preventing me from playing the great organ opening. I am still heartbroken.
Awesome story.
I feel ya man!
Rare Earth is one of my all time favorites
This is a great stuff. I was just entering high school when this came out and loved the hell out of this album. Thanks for the memories!!!!
This song get ready and band was my road trip song, Since the early 69 -70's I have burned out one eight track two Tapes and one CD on this song and loved every minute of doing so, my only regret I have in life is that I never went to see them in concert, now that I am turning 70 next B-day I would pay any cost to see them perform. I pray there is a next life. Bless all.
Brother, I hear you. You still have lots of time on this earth. Live long and prosper.
Thank you Eddie for your kind words, at least I lived it, Bless you.
