That’s super awesome. As manufacturing continues to get democratized by things like 3D printing, the frustration of getting your $15 lure snapped off will be blunted by the reality that you can just print a new one. Looking forward to your first catch’n’cook with something caught from those lures. 👍🏻
*It's great caught caught a brown trout on the first cast. **enjoyable.fishing** recommend if it was a little smaller it would be more effective for different species*
I’ve had excellent success with 3D printed lures, crank baits and a few rattle traps have gotten me some nice sized bass. The Crankbait Fishing Lure you showed, I made one. It works really well, it is a bit trial and error to get it to track strait.
very badass custom lures something to add to your merchandise opens up a pandoras box of design ideas good luck looking forward to see the different prototypes
I need a supplier that can make something similar to the Rapala Husky Jerk. With the Rattles on the inside so it swims 2 to 8 feet deep. Can you make them about 4 inch?
Hola! Cómo estás? Te hago una pregunta: se pueden usar los aerografos inalambricos chinos para pintar los señuelos? Sería con pinturas acrilicas al agua no? Gracias de antemano
That was a really interesting video. If you put rounded steel shot and vary the size (one large and two small) maybe it would help with the lure running upright? Also if you were to completely sand the wood grain like patterns off and/or apply a few layers of clear coat to give it a smoother finish. It may help with the way it "walks" in the water. Looking forward to the next installment and how you refine the 3D printed lure.
Change the print orientation by 90 degrees and it will swim better. All the build support was on one side so that side is heavy (the side that needed extra sanding)! Put the build support on the bottom or top of the lure to have better balance in the water. Tight lines and happy printing!
I've modeled the next version just as you've described, but haven't got it tuned quite right yet. Hopefully I can get it working so we can make part 2!
Your 3d printed lure swims to the side; which means the lead weights are not located where they're supposed to be. Few things to try: 1) 3 print the lure keep it sinker free. 2) modify the design to shift those hole towards the belly, and use symmetrical weights such that the right and left halves weigh exactly the same. Good luck, and let us see how it goes.
Daniel that was interesting. I’ve recently signed up for a fly tying class (free) and I keep thinking how upset I’m going to be if/when I lose it in a snag!! Same with your 3-d lure! If I had access, I’d probably print out molds so I could make several and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings so bad! Lol I really enjoyed this, can’t wait to see you land one with it.
I do have a mold printed, but it's a master and still needs silicone for the actual mold (check it here www.thingiverse.com/thing:856103) and haven't had time to try it
The only problem is, it is biodegradable which it will dissolve in water over time. However loosing a lure in the fish, the hooks holding the lure in the fish will rust off, so the hooks rusting off will save the fish, and biodegradable lure will just dissolve over time.
Next time print out your own jet divers and flashers for ocean fishing. They make snags and loosing gear a lot less painful as 3d printing my own is only 1/50 the cost of a store bought one.
Why aren't LURE COMPANIES making similar lures that can be made? AIRFIX Lures!!! The buyer can choose what sort of lure, size, weights, glide baits, paint templates.... Etc etc. Then make their own lure like they used to make AIRFIX Tanks, Plane's, Cars when they were younger or still making them!
First let me say thanks for the great video. I am new to 3d printing and started out printing with the PLA that came with my CR-10 like any excited hobbyist. I have sense moved on to PETG for its durability. I have a side business customizing vinyl's, T Shirts, SS tumblers, Koozie's etc.My question to you is PETG safe for drinking or "FDA" approved? Oh and follow us on IG @cwcreativedesigns

P love
Wayy cool! Thats some awesome/exciting stuff. Getting to create and modify your gear to the specs you want is pretty sweet.

I love how you're always doing something crazy cool!! Awesome video!!
Very excited that you guys are doing this! I have been 3d printing a lot of 3d components now and it’s great to see it used in a mainstream video!

Wow how 3d printing tech has improved in 2 years

how about sun ray affects?
that was some real great information and i enjoyed watching it and gives one alot to think about :)

Thanks for your suggestions, working on ver. 2 so stay tuned for an update!

Great idea, ver 2.0 will be printed upright to hopefully avoid that problem. Cheers!
Very cool! Do you guys have plans to introduce a rolling sinker mechanism like in the SP Minnow?
I've modeled the next version just as you've described, but haven't got it tuned quite right yet. Hopefully I can get it working so we can make part 2!
This was cool stuff. I liked the different content. Cant wait to see one caught on one of those bad boys
Amazing video. I had the same Idea. Where's the phase 2?
This is awesome. Check out resin 3D printers, they are absolutely incredible with detail - 4 years later this field has grown considerably.
Dude....that top/hoodie you’re wearing at 14:19, please for the love of God, tell me where you got it. Awesome video.

A little late but what material was this printed in?
How long did the lure take to make?
Wow! This is really cool! Could definitely make losing a lure less painful lol

Printing a mold for swimbaits might be the next thing I try!
@@philosophyd have you printed any of them molds yet? I would like to get some crankbait molds made up. What would you charge?

This is awesome. Loving the content of your channel!
Looks good. I think the lip needs alittle bit of tuning. Try sanding it until it starts to shovel water.
With work like real lures? Plastic can sink? Add weight?
The Pla does sink with enough infill, most people add bbs to add noise and sink faster.
Dam, pretty cool stuff!
Daniel you need a clip-on microphone for the acoustically noisy places like for wind or that 3D printing room
Agreed! I do need one of those :D
how long is the actual printing process?
Start to finish about an hour
This is awesome. I think the solution would be that you need less weight at tail.
So, you place lead weights in a lure made of biodegradable plastic. 🤔 WCGW?
Interesting video I would be interested in the development stages can you scan a real fish and make a copy?
Amazing!!!

Once you paint it and put a sealant on it really won’t biodegrade that fast
Badass bro! Good job
13:59 Then proceeds to dry-sand it. :P
Hey mate do a catch and cook with Mats and Andrew!
Damn make some looking just like a finger mullet and a ballyhoo
Dang!
PLA is not biodegradable out of the box. PLA requires moisture and heat over 140F to be.
Nice one bro
That luzbot sounds like it’s about to die

If it were only that easy
New sub

Hey
First
You are a disruptor, man.
Terrible print.
