I love how different baroness von Bon Bon in the game compared to bon bon in the show. Instead of a crazy, dramatic and feisty princess, the baroness in the show is just an absolutely creepy and insane candy loving princess that apparently likes to eat children. It's just so hilarious to me
i know that some people thinnk that the whole mugman-and-cuphead-fighting thing is a bit overdone in this season, i think that they did it so that you always expect the two of them to come back together at the end of the episode, and when the devil takes mugman at the end of the last episode, it's a bit more jarring and unexpected
7:56 they actually DID show matchstick in the mugman being brave ep in season 1. the baby taken is grim's kid (ig?) and it is grim matchstick final phase design that appears.
It feels much less like generic kids' cartoon plots with cookie-cutter characters and more like actual stories with consistent characterization and some continuity. My one complaint is that I kind of wish Cuphead was less of an idiot and more of a mischievous but clever troublemaker, which is kind of the impression I got from the game. His current character feels pretty one-dimensional.
Yes a VERY big improvement over the original. My favourite has got to be either the piano one or "A High Seas Adventure!" The piano one because I thought it was hilarious how cuphead was very good at the piano. And the other... Do I need to say it?
This season's episodes were made with the intent to be featured in season one. Netflix just wants to pay less money, so they split it into multiple seasons.
CupHead did seem a bit more insufferable this season, but I really love what they did with Mugman. He was hilarious and had numerous meme worthy scenes.
i love how cupheads entire personality in this show based off of that one time he sold his and mugmans soul's for money and mugmans is based on that one time he warned cuphead to not do that
While working up a list of things I want to watch this Halloween season, I had the ghosts episode from the first season was a lock, but this season had 3 or 4 episodes that fit the vibe. Release the Demons is a definite and Dead Broke is pretty close. I think Sweet Temptation is a good contender too.
I don't dislike Cuphead. In fact, I appreciate him because of the way he's not jealous of his brother when he succeeds and he s even happy for him (in the episode where Mugman has the glasses) or when he even compliments his brother (in the episode with King Dice, he says that Mugman is the smartest person he knows in front of everyone) In this season he's not that gullible (he doesn't trust the baroness) But that's right, some episodes didn't portray him perfectly...
@@freakywu2 The only time we saw a train was in episode Charming and deadly when Cuphead, Mugman and Chalice take Elder kettles car and almost get smashed by a train, but its not the same as from the game
Its like they relaized the target audience they wanted to have for season 1wasnt working they realized they needed to go for the gamer audience of the game, and yes thats how you mix the two
The ones I enjoyed the most were release the demons, high seas adventure, and sweet temptation. High seas adventure might be my favorite episode from the show. I like the humor and Cala Maria as well as captain brineybeard but mostly Cala Maria are some of my new favorite characters from the show. I also like how the episode is 26 minutes long instead of 15. I love the humor in sweet temptation and I honestly love baroness von bon bon. She is very creepy and crazy and I absolutely love it. The twist of baroness von bon bon only eating treats and not kids and the kids turning into treats if they break the rules is great and clever. And I love release the demons. The devil looks so pathetic and weak compared to his first and second finest demons but he burns them to death accidentally without trying is really funny. And the third finest are just so pathetic and it’s hilarious! Burpy was definitely my favorite for sure. King dice is one of my favorite characters from the show and he works really well and him killing all of the third finest demons to be his number one is a great touch. And I found the big brain demon annoying at first but in this episode he works really well as the devil not having the right to take cupheads soul is exciting and has a lot of potential for the lore.
i liked the season, but im kind of annoyed they didnt use many of the bosses from the trailer as main characters. i was really hoping for hilda berg to have a bigger role, but you only see her for 5 seconds
Pretty sure that the “octopus” from briny beards fight is a squid. The one In jail is an actual octopus and a different character. It’s not hard to differentiate the 2.
kind of, however the show has a different artstyle then the game, and many things that are supposed to be the same character look similar, but not identical
I really like cala Maria's voice ,it sounds so nice, also I liked seeing other bosses, my favorite episode was probably the episode with baroness von bon bon or rats all folks
I ain’t too worry about Cuphead. Sure he could be smarter but I like him the way he is. That means he has the chance to improve himself. He’ll be the one who saves Mugman from the Devil. I believe in him. He will prove that he is not an idiot.
I'm hoping that in season 3 cuphead isn't as annoying but more mad and upset while also trying to find his brother instead of goofing off. I feel like the game cuphead would be so angry and vengeful if someone kidnapped mugman that he wouldn't think to make a joke in that moment or to mess around. If the show cuphead does act like that I feel like he would feel more like the game cuphead.
The thumbnail is so true, I think the creepiness started with the Baroness bon Von episode, then Bowl Boy and then later Mugman in I scream Man (which is super out of character and i wouldnt be surprised if Cuphead does that instead). Same feeling and I got the chills because definitely because of the music, because of the tone in the story and questioning of morality in the main characters. Bowl boy really acts very very weird in season 2, much different from Season 1 as a background character. Unlike season 1 who appears to be a normal character, season 2 reminds me of Goosebump's dummy antagonist. I dont know why and how did he managed to stay alive at the end of the episode but maybe I theorize that there are many replicas of Bowl Boys. Since S2 Bowl boy acts like a psychopath (literally cause he cant feel awareness and morals). Take a closer look how his eyes moved. Cross eyed. Plus the opening credit music seems so much off than the rest of the episodes. Possibly that Bowl Boy might be controlled by someone else. (Possibly Chef Salt Baker). Then, Baroness episode gave me more chills because the whole candyland scenario is kinda similar (since Cuphead show is 7+) to teaching kids not to do drugs. Due to the fact that its slightly made up of Cuphead and Mugmans hallucinations by eating too much sugar (and caffeine for some flavors), then Baroness spilled out the cursed of being trapped (is this the foreshadowing about the astral plane?). The song is also sooo much creepy in the episode too. (Also they add FNAF reference from Baroness dialogues "they will always comeback) Also, just a guess. Since Chalice isnt the only one who goes feral in her ghost form, Mugman (threatens the I Scream Man and includes his brother), Elder Kettle (not realizing hes eating his grandkids), Cuphead (the way he eats candy) and Bowl Boy goes feral too, then most of them are kitchen ware. Chef Salt baker in the dlc did gone feral and changes his eye color who is also a kitchenware since he is a salt shaker. Maybe the writers make us a hint of the nature of anthromorphic kitchenware.
I think this season was pretty good my favorite episode would have to be the one the ice cream man episode that one was good but the only thing I hate about it is that I was excited for Sally stage play because so many opportunities can make an episode but I'm so fucking mad when they didn't that's the only downside to the season I am so mad about that
2:28 So I googled it and uncovered that a squids liver is used to help it digest food, most likely by excreting enzymes, so a squid would probably starve to death if it didn't have a liver.
Personally I am not a big fan of this season. I feel they made Cuphead and Mugman a lot less likeable than the previous. Being very rude and selfish to everyone. The best parts were with The Devil and King Dice and they barely showed up. Some plotlines started and went nowhere which confused me greatly. I still love the style though and I hope the 3rd season can make up for what I believe is a kind of lackluster season. Release the Demons is an exception though, definitely the highlight of the show so far.
I'm pretty sure Beppi has a very small cameo in the "Sweater Luck Next Time" episode in season 1. "The Obliterator", a ride in the carnival, is designed to look like Beppi's final form, and you can also see him when they zoom out to see the whole carnival.
7:21 Yeah, thanks for ruining Cuphead (the character) writers. I was really hoping for him having a good chaotic vibe the more the shows goes on, but the season (and mainly the penultimate ep) showed the opposite. Looks like they don't know what to do with him and just made him being limited to the archetype of the unlikeable chaotic character that only do wrong stuff without consequence. Meanwhile, Mugman gets all the screentime most of the time and is showed to bring more to the table than his brother! The only "decent" spotlight that Cuphead ever had on this season was on the piano ep, where I even noticed how after 6 eps, Cuphead didn't get any spotlight until that - and was short and somehow irrelevant! Anyway, I still care for Cuphead since I spent most of the time playing with him that he basically turns out to became my main and also my favorite cup from the trio. I wanted to be on the side of this fella and defend him, but the show didn't help that all. Hopefully, the season 3 can bring a character development for Cuphead, but until that, my hopes are dry atm. I mean, c'mon writers, if a chaotic character like Rigby (Regular Show) can be destructive, but iconic and likeable, why not Cuphead?
I basically watched s2 in the matter of 1 day i can say mugmans screen time was 2x more than cupheads But isnt cuphead the main character?? If the season was for mugman they could have atleast made cuphead normal and s1 wasnt even made for cuphead only I do hope s3 makes an actual fair season
Has anyone noticed how Cuphead becomes a bit annoying in the season 2? In that one episode where he blows everything up, he was unlikable in that episode especially when he said that he doesn’t really care about anything until he begged for Mugman’s help which ended with Mugman getting kicked out of the cabin he made and blowing him up when he was about to say something to Cuphead
If you want to see another excellent adaptation of the game, I would recommend the fantastic Casino Cups by Brightgoat. It’s a fan comic that is really well put together and has great characterization of our main cast. It takes the somewhat barebones story of basic Cuphead and fleshes it out.
I really enjoyed the second season and I’m hopeful to see if Beppi and Djimmi for next season. Maybe hope to see the Baroness again cause the curse peaked my interest.
2:31 this crab that shows up for a minute is probably the crab from the second Run and Gun level in Isle 3 which makes sense since that is near the Cala Maria fight
I do wonder if Cuphead and Mugman shrunk themselves to fight Werner in the game, or if he made a mechanical mech of himself to pilot. Also notice Werner’s tail and how he loses it by the end of the episode, which might be why he doesn’t have it in the game.
idk why (maybe bc the fight takes place inside a wall or his tank being made from a soup can) but I always assumed Werner was the size of the regular rat and the cups just shrank for that fight. I mean they shrank for a lot of casino bosses and stuff as well
I also thought Cuphead was really, REALLY annoying this season. I think they purposely increased that along with the number of fights he had with Mugman to make the "Mugman being kidnapped" plot line work better, though I hope it doesn't take only one episode to rescue Mugman like it took one episode for them to get out of prison
The thing is in the Lost In The Woods episode does not only make Cuphead an unlikable little shit, but is just the Candy Land episode but done worse. In the Candy Land episode we see Cuphead's lack of self control but it comes across as not being intention just a lack of self control and it was just candy, and he immediately feels bad about it and tries to do make up for it and do better. In Lost In The Woods Cuphead keeps doing the same stupid shit over and over, puts the family in danger, never feels bad or admits he's wrong, and it ends with him shoving a rocket into his brother's pants, that's not a simple lack of control that's deliberately putting other people in harm's way and not caring if they get hurt.

I love how different baroness von Bon Bon in the game compared to bon bon in the show. Instead of a crazy, dramatic and feisty princess, the baroness in the show is just an absolutely creepy and insane candy loving princess that apparently likes to eat children. It's just so hilarious to me
all of the characters are different
My favorite joke in season 2 was when the Ice cream man spoiled the book for Mugman. His reaction was to hilarious 😂
i know that some people thinnk that the whole mugman-and-cuphead-fighting thing is a bit overdone in this season, i think that they did it so that you always expect the two of them to come back together at the end of the episode, and when the devil takes mugman at the end of the last episode, it's a bit more jarring and unexpected
Do I need to say it?
yes
Be prepared to fare without your brother next season
They really give Mugman more of a role and more of a protagonist.
Yes and they made cuphead the antagonist
This season's episodes were made with the intent to be featured in season one. Netflix just wants to pay less money, so they split it into multiple seasons.
i couldn't count how many times i laughed watching this season, also that ice cream man chase scene was GOLD in my opinion
when the truck freaking just drifts over a house lmao
Baroness Von Bon Bob’s voice is probably the last thing I would think of with the character, yet it’s perfect for her.
CupHead did seem a bit more insufferable this season, but I really love what they did with Mugman. He was hilarious and had numerous meme worthy scenes.
Mugman going insane is now a meme
@@demonking3673 yes i agree! mugman is the best boi we have now!
Henchman is the best character in the show, change my mind
Yessss
thank you, henchman
henchman was amazing
Yes!
Henchman beloved.
I loved how they portrayed Cala Maria, shes also one of my favs so that makes me like it even more!
i love how cupheads entire personality in this show based off of that one time he sold his and mugmans soul's for money and mugmans is based on that one time he warned cuphead to not do that
You also forgot to mention that beppis theme was used in the last episode when the devil was doing devil things
While working up a list of things I want to watch this Halloween season, I had the ghosts episode from the first season was a lock, but this season had 3 or 4 episodes that fit the vibe. Release the Demons is a definite and Dead Broke is pretty close. I think Sweet Temptation is a good contender too.
Sweet Temptation reminded me a bit of Coraline for some reason, so I could see it being a good Halloween watch.
If season 2 has taught me one thing it’s that every cuphead character is an uncontrolled maniac
Honestly my favorite part about this show is how all the characters are to some degree unhinged
Despite having only about a minute of screen time, Sally Stageplay is absolutely fabulous. Bon Bon is also incredibly amazing
I don't dislike Cuphead. In fact, I appreciate him because of the way he's not jealous of his brother when he succeeds and he s even happy for him (in the episode where Mugman has the glasses) or when he even compliments his brother (in the episode with King Dice, he says that Mugman is the smartest person he knows in front of everyone)
In this season he's not that gullible (he doesn't trust the baroness)
But that's right, some episodes didn't portray him perfectly...
The Dragon was in season 1! The only bosses that are missing are Goopy, Cagney, Beppy the clown, Dr. Kahl, Runner Honeybottoms and phantom express
Were Djimmi and Wally Warbles in any episodes?
@@TheIrishDino Oops... I forgot about those two too
@@Funcrashmalej pretty sure i spotted the phantom express in the bowlboy episode, might have just been a regular train though
@@freakywu2 The only time we saw a train was in episode Charming and deadly when Cuphead, Mugman and Chalice take Elder kettles car and almost get smashed by a train, but its not the same as from the game
i think rumour is right at the end of the say cheese episode, she's a cop
6:34 Elder kettle just changed into Nosk from Hollow Knight
Its like they relaized the target audience they wanted to have for season 1wasnt working they realized they needed to go for the gamer audience of the game, and yes thats how you mix the two
This season was way more humorous than the last one.
And I found the big brain demon annoying at first but in this episode he works really well as the devil not having the right to take cupheads soul is exciting and has a lot of potential for the lore.
for me "lost in the woods" was my favorite, i kinda found it funny and liked how cuphead straight up launched everything with a firework in the sky
“The cuphead show season 2 has finally dropped” *me running to Netflix to watch it*
lets goooo
The Werner Werman episode slaps imo. I hope they'll make episodes for Sally and Hilda
i liked the season, but im kind of annoyed they didnt use many of the bosses from the trailer as main characters. i was really hoping for hilda berg to have a bigger role, but you only see her for 5 seconds
I am glad you feel that way about "Lost in the Woods" because that made me hate Cuphead too, he just gets worse and worse and doesn't learn anything.
Virgins came for Cala Maria...
CHADS Came for Werner werman.
(That was my favorite episode too)
Pretty sure that the “octopus” from briny beards fight is a squid.
The one In jail is an actual octopus and a different character. It’s not hard to differentiate the 2.
kind of, however the show has a different artstyle then the game, and many things that are supposed to be the same character look similar, but not identical
@@Pogobro I feel like you’re just stretching it. Also, you never mentioned sally stage play. :(
I prefer Cuphead in game, but Mugman's 10x better in the show
Mugman snapping at the ice cream man for the spoiler is still hilarious.
I really like cala Maria's voice ,it sounds so nice, also I liked seeing other bosses, my favorite episode was probably the episode with baroness von bon bon or rats all folks
We now know why Elder Kettle lives in the woods.....
He's in hiding
I ain’t too worry about Cuphead. Sure he could be smarter but I like him the way he is. That means he has the chance to improve himself. He’ll be the one who saves Mugman from the Devil. I believe in him. He will prove that he is not an idiot.
U cant say someone is dumb
Easilly they might not just know how to use their brain
One good thing is that this season was a bit more focused on mugman and maybe thats because him being in prison did actually changed him
Is it just me or in about half of the episodes, the ending has SOMEONE dying. Elder kettle literally cuphead and mugman once...
I like the another brother episode, bowl boy saying "i want to become you cuphead, is just eerie and hilarious"
yeah bowl boy needs to return
Why is everyone simping for some bald mermaid who has a squid for hair ??
In Sweet Temptation my favourite part is when the baroness says "oh we're friends now, you can call me the" then there's an awkward silence.
No
@@Wowzerslop ok so if you don't like the idea then you can just look away like no need to comment.
@@Wowzerslop what do u mean..
I mean seriously do u think mugman will become a god and escape??
Cuphead was hilarious in the "lost in woods" episode. That face and the fireworks are literally amazing 🤣
(Also they add FNAF reference from Baroness dialogues "they will always comeback)
Also, just a guess.
I have no idea whatis going on with Bowlboy but I am here for it, could make a great secondary villain for season 3
@@Pogobro it would be fitting if hes more like henchman
3:38 the only part about about baroness is when she says "And today is you're lucky day!" It'll give me nightmares.
I think this season was pretty good my favorite episode would have to be the one the ice cream man episode that one was good but the only thing I hate about it is that I was excited for Sally stage play because so many opportunities can make an episode but I'm so fucking mad when they didn't that's the only downside to the season I am so mad about that
At least Sally had actual dialogue when she appeared, which is more than you can say for Hilda Berg or Grim Matchstick at this point.
2:28 So I googled it and uncovered that a squids liver is used to help it digest food, most likely by excreting enzymes, so a squid would probably starve to death if it didn't have a liver.
2:58 isn’t that the crap form that one sea run and gun level
Matchstick did appear in season one, but he got about as much screen time as Hilda Berg.
I haven’t watched the show but am hyped to see your review on season 3 when it comes out
thanks Toast, always good to see you!
@@Pogobro thanks man
Instead of Cuphead and Mugman fighting each other all the time, they should be working together to defeat their enemies.
0:21 This Part…
The first time I saw creepy spider Kettle I yelled out ‘Ballora?!’ I’m not even joking. And if you know, you know
I would love to See the peashooter in season 3. I think it could be used by Cuphead to fight the devil. Or maybe he will Just use the pitchfork.
King Dice’s voice is what you don’t get? That’s probably one of the most game accurate things in the show
The voice acting for the characters are all fine. Idk why you don’t like them when they fits the characters
7:21
Yeah, thanks for ruining Cuphead (the character) writers.
I basically watched s2 in the matter of 1 day i can say mugmans screen time was 2x more than cupheads
But isnt cuphead the main character??
If the season was for mugman they could have atleast made cuphead normal and s1 wasnt even made for cuphead only
I do hope s3 makes an actual fair season
5:04 Luigi’s mansion players be like.
Despite not having beppi, they still put in a remix of carnival kerfuffle in the last episode. Hmmmm 🤔
yeah I wondered why it was that song instead of the devils theme
Patchyface was the axe you saw next to the cageny carnation boss fight
"Cala Maria Simps, this is your spot"
Damn, you read me like a damn book...
GOTTEM
I actually started watching season 2 thinking, "this season is so much better, let me Google my opinion". And then you popped up!
I sometimes wonder what it would be like if they gave hollow knight a TV show
would be really cool if it was in a similar hand drawn style
I believe the show would have less comedy and would have more episodes focusing the possible plot of the show would have
I feel like cuphead is a little less lazy when it comes to Ms. Chalice being around since he finds her like some kind of a cool friend.
Cuphead and Mugman literally blackmail Elder Kettle 💀
2:49 Not to mention the Popeye reference? :D
1:22 dude is scared of what he is
If you want to see another excellent adaptation of the game, I would recommend the fantastic Casino Cups by Brightgoat. It’s a fan comic that is really well put together and has great characterization of our main cast. It takes the somewhat barebones story of basic Cuphead and fleshes it out.
YES
5:44 after this, he gets blown up so hard, he loses the german
I really enjoyed the second season and I’m hopeful to see if Beppi and Djimmi for next season. Maybe hope to see the Baroness again cause the curse peaked my interest.
TOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH I WANT THEM TO BE IN THE SHOW.
2:31 this crab that shows up for a minute is probably the crab from the second Run and Gun level in Isle 3 which makes sense since that is near the Cala Maria fight
The show is great, Netflix streaming quality is garbage
I like how Cala Maria is a siren/ mermaid with a greek Medusa, that's why I like her, reminds me of my country
what country?
The love poured into this show is incredible. It's always great to see a cartoon with real passion put into it.
