Happy to see the Devil Survivor series land at the top of this list, because they're certainly at the top of mine. The original team that developed the DeSu series disbanded after Atlus's parent company went under and they were acquired by Sega. Hopefully one day, DeSu3 can come to fruition on modern hardware and bring back its incredibly versatile and strategic gameplay.
I didn’t know that tidbit about the original team. Interesting stuff!
I'd still choose SMT IV or Strange Journey over DeSu as must buy/play for 3DS.
But the DeSu series quality is unquestionable.
Liberation Maiden is a 3ds digital exclusive by Level 5 & Suda51. Relies heavily on the touch screen so likely will not be ported. Totally worth getting!

ur so right about Fantasy Life, so nostalgic to me. Played it since i was in 4th game.
You can easily put in over 100 hours especially if you purchase the dlc which is a very rare steal for the amt of content

7th code 3 was literally my childhood and formed my personality, it’s the game I’ve spent the most hours in and genuinely it’s SO good

If you can, try the 7th Dragon 2020 games on PSP (or the DS one but I don't recommend it). Those two are so good and I love them.
Nintendo wont even put the shop on Sale for the last days of 3DS /WiiU shop. Ha

@@darkveilnight9993 You have to connect your WiiU eShop and Nintendo ID together, or some such. The 'How to' was announced on the 'News' feed on your 3DS and WiiU if you havent deleted it.
3DS eShop have been kind of busy, but I've found out some of the games have been removed already. I left it too late.
The WiiU shop the last week has been 99% inactive the last week. It's been the same item, and I haven't noticed any additional 'Sale' items. - I'm really just looking for buying the painting programs for the WiiU, but really not a must as I have Photoshop, and or Procreate to work on. ha

The 3DS versions of SMT Devil Survivor not only have voice acting, history wise they have a LOT more content. They have like 6 new endings/expansions of previous endings.
Oh! I didn’t know they added to previous endings. That’s an interesting change.
I may not agree with the ranking, but this a really solid list. Probably the best I have seen. A nice mix of expensive and quality games. Nothing too mainstream either. 👍
Thank you for the kind words. Honestly doing the ranking is always the hardest part and sometimes doesn’t mean much in a list like this one in one particular. Like Yo-Kai Watch 3 I could see that as being the last one, but I put it at first because there is a more likelihood that it will be seen by more people.

Dude you are the second person to recommend getting Radiant Historia before the eshop closes. I played it last year and it’s one of my favorite games. Sooooo gooood. You gotta finish it because it is worth it.

Wow this was actually a really good list--possibly the best 3ds recommendations I've heard on youtube. Far too often I see the repetitive takes of "get *this* mario game, grab *that* sonic game, maybe this *insert triple A game title here*" and I never hear about the JRPGs that are lesser-known. Before watching this video, I thought Atlus only made SMT and Persona, didn't know some of these other JRPGs are also made by Atlus like Radiant Historia and Stella Glow (publisher, not dev, but still). Great video!

Going to look heavily into Stella Glow and 7th Dragon! Just picked up SMT:DS1, DS2, SJR, 4, and 4A. I have physical copies of all of these but they are slowly rising in price... Might sell them off in the future. idk. Also grabbed DQ7 and might grab DQ8.. I have a physical of 8 but again, might be worth selling it someday!
Always good to grab digital games because those physical prices are ridiculous nowadays ha.

Those games are underrated especially Stella glow which is criminally underrated

@@brucefields7009 it’s more focus on gameplay over story. Characters aren’t too bad but not good either. Story is predictable and 60 hours in total, which is too much for a handheld game.
7th dragon was a good game, loved how you get to live out your yugi-oh fantasy with the duelist class :D
I'm glad I got all the smt games when they were on sale, it was a priority for me.
Smart move. Because Atlus published games do love to skyrocket in price.
Starship Damrey is good. Is like classic Resident Evil without the guns. It is not perfect, but I really enjoyed it. It lasts for about 2-5hr. depending on your reading speed and puzzle solving skills. Short, but entertaining.

I find the approach of looking at games for their current price and potential inflation, instead of gameplay or story, quite alien to me.
Worth mentioning a new Fantasy Life game got announced recently ✌️ might even raise the price tbh.
That will for sure have some influence on the price no doubt!
I would suggest ever oasis. Not a popular title it's like fantasy life. It's an action adventure rpg game that you get to also take care and build your town by restoring it and adding to it and you can leave you oasis that you're restoring to fight battles and go on adventures.
I’ve been keeping tabs on that game for a while now. Might snag it soon
Great list. Unfortunately the crimson shroud is not really worth it. Thats a game thats better only remembered by trailers. The game looks cool and the unique dice mechanics may shine in the 1st hour of play but progression usually lies in very obscure puzzles. There is one puzzle that is a famous point where people put down the game forever, as the solution involves farming a single battle for a rare enemy drop. So unfortunately the unique battle system is overshadowed by unbearable puzzle filler between the combat scenarios. Very solid suggestions otherwise!

About adding funds: you don't need a Switch to do it. As long as you have a Nintendo account you can do it. You will be prompted to "merge funds" with the Nintendo account and the eshop. Then your 3DS or WiiU can access your balance.

The extra content in JRPG remakes may often not be great, but Atlus games tend to be the exception. Radiant Historia, both Devil Survivors, and Etrian 1 and 2 all have fantastic extra content on 3DS compared to DS. Strange Journey is the only one that's a bit of a mixed bag - the new dungeon is good, but it can screw up the difficulty curve of the main content, and the story changes are divisive.
Good to know Altus games may be the exception to the rule!
Definitely get the Professor Layton games:
Miracle Mask, Azran Legacy and the crossover "Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright"! All incredible!
Def go for the Layton Vs Wright because that one is getting waaaay too speedy as well.

it's a shame that yokai watch has skyrocketed in price, it's a great series that really put the passion back into the monster battling genre.
as for the eShop - titles like Citizens of Earth, Kid Icarus:Uprising, LBX, Bravely Default, HarmoKnight, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Kirby Planet Robobot, and Nano Assault EX are all worth the grab before the inevitable closure at the end of this month.
Haven’t heard of a couple of these.
With Level-5 now being back hopefully hopefully! We get a Yo-Kai 4 localization announcement.
Tried the demo for Stella glow………… had to purchase the game because it’s just so fun.
Inazuma Eleven is truly an underrated and under-appreciated series.
Glad I grabbed a copy of it then!
You can never go wrong with "Level 5" Games.

@@bitsoftimemedia sure thing! Anything to make that piece of art more known. Just beware, things get a little wild somewhere around season two or three if my memory serves me right. Starts out as a pretty normal sports anime with unrealistic special techniques and then Boom. Aliens. So yeah, suspension of disbelief is necessary but it's quite a fun show with its tense and heartwarming moments as well as plenty of friendship.

Luckily on got Radiant Hystoria when it was last on sale last year. I got all the dlc. I am Finnish my collection on the Wii U. I just need 1 more game on my 3DS to complete my wish list.

There is a store chain called 5 below. Everything is $5 or less. I saw a shelf of tons of new Yo Kai Watch games. Didn't grab one, sad.

fantasy life is a game that has 150+ hours of gameplay with DLC happy to see it make this list
I bought fire emblem conquest and just got the other two games and dlcs, recommend getting the fire emblem games and dlcs now if you want them but from the ones I've played you can honeslty miss them to and not lose much outside of the extra story dlc for fates that might as well be download only
I would suggest Kirby Robobot, Ever Oasis, Sushi Striker, Kingdom Hearts, Bravely Default, Dragonball Fusion, Rune Factory 4, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns
Sushi Striker is pretty cheap on Switch, but some people like the double screen/stylus action better on the 3DS.
Kirby is getting spendy so highly recommend that one, heard it’s one of the best adventures too.

As someone who bought the Stella Glow launch edition set, I cannot recommend it enough.
Out of the few SMT games I’ve beat Strange Journey is my favorite. Definitely recommend
I think that’s the next SMT game I plan on playing.
I think my favorite one is IV very closed to Strange Journey 2nd place. Both I could consider my favorite games in life.

Im on my third 3ds. My only redundancies really are just pokemon crystal🔮, pokemon yellow⚡ and pokemon TCG🃏. Trading, battling, mystery gifting, transfering and popping is really whats important to me.

@@bitsoftimemedia well pokemon tcg only allows you to pop another game once and since everyone in my age group missed the 3ds era, i figured it would be nice to have more than handheld consoles for pokemon battling, trading, mystery gifting and transfering abilities. Almost finished getting my whole library wishlist on 3ds number one!

i dont know if you know this but even though the 3ds is region locked when you put a ds game in, it is not region locked. i have many European and Japanese ds games i play on my American 3ds.

I got my 3ds dragon quests for 20/25 bucks used a few months ago. You don't have to go digital here.

Dude, I wish I could. Credit/debit cards and gift cards ain't valid anymore and I don't remember my email, let alone the password for my Nintendo id. I might just find a service to mod my 3ds or do it myself. Not really in the mood to give 'em more money anyways

Great list. Id get Yokai Watch 2 Psychic Scepters. It's probably almost as pricey as Yokai Watch 3 physically. Also Pokémon Bank, Pokémon Transportation and all the demos. Monster Hunter Stories is also a good RPG. If you like Rhythm games Rhythm Thief from Sega is good and it's pricey physically.
Yeah the second Yo-Kai is getting spendy too! I hear the second is some people’s favorite as well. So good recommendation.

Loved tales of the abyss on 3ds just fyi game on final boss does have a game breaking bug if u don’t do ur final art at the right time the battle never ends

what a boss, i have them all, never expect to see radiant historia one of my favorite ds games here, i only miss the etrian odyssey series, etrian odyssey 4, 5 and nexus are must buy if you enjoy a hard explore dungeons rpg
Radiant Historia is the cream of the crop.
I have a few Etrian games but haven’t played them myself. Plus with 1-3 coming to Switch not as dire need. Think we will get more ports of those games if that collection does well.
Sad to see that Fire Emblem Fates DLC has shutdown at the end of February one month before the eshop closes forever. Good thing I bought every DLC by the time it came out in Europe.
It is a bummer. That one will be lost to time because of its strange release

Your charge attacks gain another level and, when you've gotten to God mode, you'll get this charge that makes you have a burst like mode.
Oh, and also, you unlock two towers, one of light and the other of darkness iirc.
This is mostly based off of memory, so I may be wrong in some things

What means did you use to capture your 3DS gameplay?
I have a tripod for my phone and just angled it properly. It was a bit hard to see what I was recording and a bit of a pain while navigating but it ended up working out.

6:50 yeah, it's well done, only if you use undub patch that restores original voices. It's generally hard for me to collect for 3DS. I refuse to buy any dub only game. I can't imagine paying for something that I'll need hack anyway, because it's lacking of original content.
I actually really like the dub. I think the voice acting is 👌👌

Stay away from Birthright/Fates only because the DLC is now gone. I still think Shadows is my pick, but Awakening also saved FE here in the states...so worth it. But you do have a switch! Fire Emblem Three Houses is excellent.

So strictly among RPGs? Surprised that you didn't go with the obvious choices in Pokémon X, Y, Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, & Ultra Moon. For other genres: Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, Dead or Alive Dimensions, Nintendogs & cats, BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2, Phoenix Wright Trilogy, EverOasis, Senran Kagura Burst & Senran Kagura 2, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo (another obvious answer), etc.
