I know the history from both sides so I understand the bad blood but I love and hate this bit because I’m a huge Don fan and I also think Ant is a huge talent. I hope they regretted saying they wished he’d hit his wife with his car, I wouldn’t wish his pain over losing her on anyone. They are right about Mike, he did some decent impressions once a week but he offered nothing else.
I know they acknowledged Freda's death and offered condolences. Also, Anthony was interviewed by Chad Dukes after O&A split and Ant admitted he liked Don and Mike, but Opie wanted to push the radio wars more and more. And yeah, Mike sucked. He was/is nothing without Don.
Opie was always the one picking fights. Truth is, Don and Mike was a good show. They had proven ratings and gave all the numbers. O and A misled listeners about their numbers. O and A were never number 1 in afternoons in NYC. There were number 1 in a single demo. Opie says it straight-up. They picked a fight with Don to get their names out there as they tried to make a come back.
Opie was the instagator and Ant goes along with the bit to put on a good show. Hate it or love it, it made for fun radio. Sure, in the end Ant admited he didn't have anything against most of the people they fought against, it was all in good fun.
Don got the Kasim outtakes idea from Steve Dahl when Don was a time and temp, record spinning jock in Chicago at WLS FM at the same time Steve was there.
Opie and Anthony look like the new gay couple that none of the other gay couples like because they vote for Republicans.
And 4 months later Freda died too. Rough year for Don in 2005.

In restrospect i wouldnt say o&a failed.. they ran their course. In my opinion they were successful
Ant is still doing well. He got the boot, but didn’t stay down for too long. Jim is quite successful. Opie, well, yeah.... not so much.
