Just got fitted for the G410. Ten year replacement of R9 Supertri. Interesting that best performing shaft was the counterbalanced Tensai Orange, maybe something to do with the weight of the Ping head. Was a close call with Epic Flash and Evenflow shaft but the Ping average of the miss hits was generally better in distance and dispersion. Also liking the look over the ball.
Marc I just installed a Tour AD XC 60 in my driver, 8-10 years farther. unbelievable consistency and feel. Off center hits 235-240. Amazing. I am 66 and have a 11 handicap. I have one order for my 3 metal M6
Before I changed to ping g410 I had the Callaway xr16. Am 51, slightly chubby and have a weak back. The xr16 would average 195 yards of carry, clubhead speed 85 and 1900 spin. G410 has given me 210 carry, 89 clubhead and 2300 spin and more height and consistency. Fully fitted by club professional and so worth doing.
Put the TS3 and Callaway Epic Flash SubZero against the Cobra F9 speedback earlier this year when I got custom fit at Club Champion in NJ. I got consistently 2-3 mph faster ball speed with the F9 on same day with same shaft (Accra, fx2.0 365 M4). Ball speed: TS3: 143.7 mph. Epic Flash:143.8 mph. F9 146.6 mph. AT the time the Ping 410 wasnt available (Feb. 2019). I was sold on on the spot !
The tech looks equal,....excitement , warming up etc. affecting club head speed seems to be the variable in the data. Ping, Callaway or Titleist appear to be head to head if fitted correctly. Good tests!
Just got my new driver first time I have ever been fit for a driver. The experience was great went in with no brand preference. All drivers were in the same ballpark on distance but only one felt great and inspired confidence. My fear on the tee is over cooking to the right (I am lh). This club didn't miss right in my hands. Can't wait to play golf!!!! The winner for me is TS3!!
Great video. Ended up with both heads as finalists in my recent fitting. My stats were nearly identical with both. Went with G410 because the lateral dispersion was much tighter on 30+ swings with each.
Agree that Dan could squeeze out some more distance with some fitting tweaks. Also agree about the matte finish being so nice and wish Callaway would go back to it (like they did with the Great Big Bertha about 3 years ago).
The big thing I noticed with Dan's numbers was how consistent he was hitting the Ping all the way along the board. Very tight standard deviations for all the numbers that I could see. If he can hit the TS3 as consistently then the extra yardage speed would be desirable. However if it was me and I had the choice of a few yards or consistency I would go with the Ping. For Mark, he was able to hit both quite consistent overall with the numbers, so then would come down to distance, feel and look. Both are great clubs.
Agreed on the looks. I love the shape of TS2/3 and Callaway but prefer the finish of Ping. Too bad matte finish wasn’t available with Callaway or Titleist. I do like the thud of the Titleist and Callaway more than Ping but feel like that could change depending on the day as well. Fun test as always gents!
Mark, I “knuckelball” love you! Why isn’t this video getting 300k views! Keep doing what you are doing because it is honestly a fantastic job! Cheers Bruh!
Love the honest evaluation here. Both excellent products. I may be unusual, but I've always found a reflective top on drivers & fairway woods distracting at address. Hopefully more companies will bring out matte finishes. Good video guys!
I just watched a top collegiate event over the weekend and was a bit surprised to see the number of TS3’s in the bag. Kind of expected to see more Flash and TM drivers but that wasn’t the case. These young dudes absolutely murder the ball. 300+ carry wasn’t unusual.
Love your vids Mark! Only one thing I thinked you missed to mention, you were a lot straighter with the PING G410. Obviously very little data, more shots needed unlike distance which maxes out if you hit a good one.. Great job staying objective, you are the number one golfyoutuber
2 questions if you don't mind gents: 1) wondering if warm up came to play in ball speed? Just wondering. 2) did one club feel easier to hit than the other? I understand that's subjective. suppose none of that really matters just interested. Love the content.
@@MarkCrossfield ok great thanks Mark's, that makes sense from your other vids I've watched. Context is good though. Did one club have a easier feel about it than another just wondering? Will have to test for myself. Great work, brah👍. Loving that ping though!
Titleist fitted to you, Ping fitting centre's would easily match or surpass your numbers. My opinion no sponsorship you would struggle not to play this ping driver. Great video thanks for your efforts.
you both hit TS3 2nd after warming up with the Ping, you both need to warm up, then alternate 5-5-5-5, swing speed must be the same to be true comparisons, right?
Mark, it would be nice to see the experiment done with the same shaft. I found that with a custom shaft my swing speed was +3-7 MPH higher than the stock shaft.
Hi Mark . Yes please to Dan 8.5 to 9.5 and would you do you at 9.5 to 10.5 ? Be so interesting if it improves Dan's figures and then in a nice way and just as interesting would it just be enough to show your figures drop off ? Showing the strengths of fine tuned fitting . Go 267 or more 😊 nice work guys.
Absolutely love my G410, I never liked Ping drivers until this one. I can’t stop hitting the thing right out the middle, it’s just the perfect driver for me
I agree that emotions ,feelings come into play that can effect your performance. You need to ask for a Matt finish in your driver and give us all a chance to try it . Will the big T do this mmmmmmmmm fingers crossed .
Hi! Isn't there a difference in shaft length? that could explain a bit of the swing speed? If you are using standard length's Ping (tour 65) is a quarter of an inch shorter.
I just got the Ping G400 max coming from Cobra f6+ and I love the looks of the Ping . My performance has added yardage and fairways hit are way up and missed ones are usually in the first cut. Getting 25 yds more on average as my confidence is up and that is allowing me to swing more aggressive. To me, the shiney gloss drivers are a turn off.....matte is my favorite.
My understanding is that all the (major?) manufacturers max out at the regulated characteristic time (CT), and therefore the COR, of their drivers. If that is true then the ball speed off the face is just a function of Dan, not the club. So my thinking is that it's just going to be club setup, and/or how big an area on the face they've managed to get max CT over. It's hard to say, but the Ping seems to be "friendlier" in that sense. It would be interesting to see how Dan went with the Titleist set up to match the Ping as closely as possible.
Interesting, I hear what you are saying with Dan not getting the most out of his driver, but for me, I can see that if he dials in his titleist on the 9.5 loft, and gains that 6-8 yards of distance, against the ping where your comment was that he was getting a more consistent strike pattern with it, surely that will “win” in the end with more consistent carry distances on the course which would’nt that be more advantageous on the course knowing that he could, carry that bunker, or carry the water, with the confidence in his equipment and his numbers......?
I'm a Ping boy, but I love the look of the Titleist woods. If money was no object I'd go for the extra speed and work on that potential gain. But more realistically I'm all about the dispersion. I trust Ping to be the best all-rounder every time. ( Love you Titleist ....)
Mark's an excitable guy - understatement. Dan definitely needs to loft up. Today's drivers are all the same as far as performance goes. I believe it all comes down to which one you like and suits your swing.
I’ll have to watch again (l’m old so a bit slow) but my point is, Dan got fit, based on his “new numbers - leaving distance based on his speed”, he should try a new setting for his driver. Just would have liked to see his strike. Thanks. Big fan when you explain shot “outcomes”
Bought TS3 when it first came out but have only had 1 round with it. Not a bad round at all. Since i have talked to my Fitter about maybe the F9 or Mizuno's. Would they be better?? After 2 hours of testing every shaft and head combo and settling on the Mizuno ST190. My fitter brought out 1 more to try without looking. Hit it twice and now felt like this new entry was the one for me. My buddy laughed as he showed me it was my TS3 and i already had the best fit driver for me. Love my Titleist, just need to get out a play some freakin Golf man!!
Be interesting to have an analysis of dans strike point average for ping vs titleist to analyse his ballspeed, launch and spin more. Great video by the by
Had a question What’s the raw head weight for TS ? I know that Ping should be around 206-208gram mayb that’s reason Ping is abit slower club head speed shown on GC Q .
TS3 looks better. I like matte stuff, but the TS3 with the gloss and the arrow at the front is really nice. The things on top of the G410 are absolutely hideous.
@@MarkCrossfield Yes, I posted after you hit and before Dan hit his 4. Dan didn't have any drop-offs so probably just reading too much into a couple of mishits. I understand you are using TS3 for the compare as you game that model. Good video by the way!
I may be confused, but wouldn't delivered or dynamic loft have to do a lot with ball speed? if Dan is delivering less loft with the TS3, wouldn't that increase ball speed? I'm also curious on delivery with relationship to CG. If it's more optimal with one driver over the other, wouldn't the more optimal strike relative to CG deliver better efficiency? and all of this is related to how a player plays with a club because of appearance, feel, and preference ... am I barking up the wrong tree?
When playing in Malaysia, did the reflective crown of the TS3 bother you when setting up to drive off the tee? Having lived in Thailand, I found a non-reflective crown on a driver (Adams Speedline) less distracting.
You got more ball speed from titleist for 2 reasons. #1) your 1st 4 strikes were with the ping which was a nice warm up for the 5th 6th 7th and 8 swing which were with your titleist #2) you are used to the titleist ...it is your club ...you know it inside out and backward ...the weight the timing everything. reverse this ...if ping was your club and swung it 2nd you would probably get better numbers with the ping. and you hit the ping straighter and tighter groupings and its not even your club. Advantage PING
It would have been nice to see the strike dispersion on Dan's shots to see if it was actually him striking the Ping better or if the Ping is just more forgiving.
We could not see the club speed data so could the ball speed difference be attributed to Dan warming up and swinging faster with the Titleist? If not, then maybe shaft length differences? Finally, don't you typically find that ball speed is higher with lower lofts, all else equal? If Dan lofts up with the TS3 then his ball speed might be a bit lower.
How much difference can be attributed to being custom fit for the TS3? I know it isn't a 10 yard advantage, just curious to the actual difference. All things being equal in fitting, the clubs seem rather equal and top of the line in my opinion. I wouldn't turn either of them down for a place in my bag. (I am a Ping man.)
Hello Mark, I thought the ball speed increases as the loft decreases? That might account for the faster ball speed when Dan was using his own, less lofted driver. Cheers
Thanks Mark, Yes, it's all down to which one you prefer the look and sound of. I think you make better swings when you feel comfortable and relaxed and the aesthetics play a big part in that.
For me it would come down to looks from all the data you have got. That ping driver just looks like it can rip the cover off the ball. The titleist drivers are too rounded for my eye. Watching you guys and Rick shields have given me so many ideas to make my game better so keep the videos coming.
We had our first nice day of spring here yesterday. Called the golf course we go to and they said there is still a few feet of snow on the course :( I JUST WANNA GOLF!!!
I noticed in your videos you mentioned before that if you start off with one club but you’re still kind of cold and that. you pick up ball speed and hand clubhead speed when you warm up in the second club You didn’t do it that this time and alternate between clubs
Were you warmed up when you started the test? You hit Ping first then Titleist. Go back and hit the Ping after you hit the Titleist to see if you were just more warmed up for one over the other.
@@MarkCrossfield Thanks for the quick reply. I'm so used to you guys going out dead cold for your vlogs, lol. I play like crap if I can't at least hit 25 shots before the round. I guess that's the difference between a good player and a 13 hcp. Thanks for all your great content.
Which one fixes my two-way miss? I tend to miss left at the start of a round, but finish a round missing right. In the middle I often find target. Quite odd.
G410 is low spin in Mark's hands. Its possibly the best of both worlds low spin and high MOI. Where or why would you need LST. Possibly more warmed up with TS. Hard to imagine 3-4 mph ball speed difference without a faster club speed. Even club speed does the ping just pass the TS on carry? In human testing its very close
Great review there boys. We know the TS3s were fitted to you, but what would the results be if you had gone through a custom fitting of the Ping? Would be interested in seeing those results! Keep up the great work.
Hey Mark, I just tested these two at the golf store. I hit the Ping 30+ mph faster. I’m a lefty though, and they had a left handed G400 and a right handed TS3 🤷🏼♂️
I like the look of the ping but when I put them down by the ball. The toe seems to sit very upright to me?! Is it some eyeball trickery?!? I'm not sure . Even when mark puts them down together here .the ping "looks" really upright.. maybe I'm seeing something thats not really there .. lol
Does it matter that you were both fit for the Titleist driver and not for the Ping? I would think if you were it may be closer. But as you said they are pretty much the same and comes down to looks and feel. Nice review
Do you guys think that some players are being held back by using a specific "brand" of club vs. hitting and trying another "brand" of club. I have struggled with this, and Mark you may have talked on this a tiny bit in your video, but I play Titleist clubs in my entire bag, would I possibly play better with a few other "brands" and have a mixed bag...who knows. But I do believe that sometimes "brands" hold us back. Interested in your point of view.
Love it!!! Optimization bruh! I love the looks of both clubs. I do like the thud from the Titlelist, but the Ping reminds me of something out of a science fiction movie... which I give points for. LOL... Love the little, "Didn't need the 'twist face' on that one." #267

Wouldn’t a lower loft and lower launch angle, make the ball speed faster?
Could Dans faster balls speed be from an increased swing speed, either from familiarity of club or warmth of muscles as the test progressed?

Great review, love the banter.
Re Dans numbers. How much of the higher ball speed is directly from the lower launch? Maybe not as much’Potential’ in the titleist.
when will we see TS4?
It would have been nice to see the strike dispersion on Dan's shots to see if it was actually him striking the Ping better or if the Ping is just more forgiving.
We could not see the club speed data so could the ball speed difference be attributed to Dan warming up and swinging faster with the Titleist? If not, then maybe shaft length differences? The ping was 3rd this is the second test of the day. So we went ping callaway ping and Titleist. Also we warmed up before filming.
Quite odd.
adrenaline, leveled out, fatigue.
The turbulators add weight and slow the Ping down :)
A compare of the G400 max and G410 would be interesting
Great review there boys. We know the TS3s were fitted to you, but what would the results be if you had gone through a custom fitting of the Ping? Would be interested in seeing those results! Keep up the great work.
The ping is fitted
Thanks@@MarkCrossfield!! Want one :)
Hey Mark, I just tested these two at the golf store. I hit the Ping 30+ mph faster. I’m a lefty though, and they had a left handed G400 and a right handed TS3 🤷🏼♂️
TS4 vs TS2 and TS3 coming soon?
I like the look of the ping but when I put them down by the ball. The toe seems to sit very upright to me?! Is it some eyeball trickery?!? I'm not sure . Even when mark puts them down together here .the ping "looks" really upright.. maybe I'm seeing something thats not really there .. lol
Is there a more humble golfer than Dan?
Some are saying the TS2 is more forgiving?
I wonder what was the Dan’s club head speed of the two drivers
Does it matter that you were both fit for the Titleist driver and not for the Ping? I would think if you were it may be closer. But as you said they are pretty much the same and comes down to looks and feel. Nice review
The ping is Fit?
Do you guys think that some players are being held back by using a specific "brand" of club vs. hitting and trying another "brand" of club. I have struggled with this, and Mark you may have talked on this a tiny bit in your video, but I play Titleist clubs in my entire bag, would I possibly play better with a few other "brands" and have a mixed bag...who knows. But I do believe that sometimes "brands" hold us back. Interested in your point of view.
My question is with the numbers being pretty equal, which driver had a better shot disbursement? Now I’ll continue to watch the rest of the video lol
When you getting your mitts on TS4?
Dan can go up .75 degree with the TS3 gives him 9.25 which will be perfect.
Cheers from NorCal boys
Love it!!! Optimization bruh! I love the looks of both clubs. I do like the thud from the Titlelist, but the Ping reminds me of something out of a science fiction movie... which I give points for.
LOL... Love the little, "Didn't need the 'twist face' on that one." #267
drag factor matt finsh v gloss finish aero package v smooth crown or am i going all Bryson Dechambeau
I’m a club Ho and switch drivers and irons every month or two... and the new Ping G410 is the business. Feels phenomenal and is very forgiving.
