The series was not only banned but the actors were blacklisted from national TV for a year or two. The multiple shows they were featured in had also been cut from airing. The fact that their careers had to suffer like that is so heartbreaking. Even after five years, the cast has never appeared together in public ever since. But they are all successful in their careers now. We can only hope that they all still keep in touch.
And a season 2 is impossible anymore.
Edit: Btw, the rooftop scene of Yin Zi crying on Da Hai's shoulder was the last ever scene they shot for the series. Knowing that fact makes watching it even more heartbreaking. It was the last shot of the actors together on the same screen for Addicted 😭

@@frog4481 sometimes shows don't shoot scenes in order, they had the whole other scenes shot already but the one in the rooftop was the very last one they shot together 😿

Gu hai kept all his promises. Learnt to cook for yinzi, washed his clothes and loved him more than any one else.
I couldn't imagine how painful for both of the actors who have already built a strong connection with each other but then being told and forced to separate each other. It would have been very difficult for them because they have to pretend it was fine. This scene right here was actually second to the most painful scene all through out this series. One was when they found out they are actually step brother's and this one right here. Everything in this series is just beautiful but painful because of the unnecessary hate they got from China government. I wouldn't buy the reason that it was banned because of military tactics getting exposed in this show. It was barely a small info that we can't even confirm. It was basically their hate against the LGBTQ community and the fact that this series is too powerful.

It is a very, very powerful series because it represents the love between two men and their journey together in such a sweet and simple way. It is sad the the Chinese government banned this series and the actors. The Chinese government is vile.

China government actually have a great problem with famous and great bl drama. They also almost done it with the untamed too. They just can't accept.
It was a victim of it's own popularity. If it had been less explosively popular it might have gone under the radar.
The rooftop scene... Probably one of the most beautiful and touching moments ever captured in a BL. It's the reason this story lives on and will for a long time.

The way Gu Hai asked "Rooftop?" was probably the softest voice he ever spoke to Bai Luo Yin imo.
After reading the novel just to satisfy my curiosity, i think the actors embodied the characters in it. Everytime i read the scenes i imagine them doing what the novel written, it feels so surreal 😁

it was not easy for me to move on from a series that was cut short.. I was heartbroken to learned the series was discontinued and the actors were banned from working together again. So I read the novel in wattpad with these actors in mind and man it was a rollercoaster joyride. I guess I was able to accept and move on. This series is one of the greatest BL for me

Even YuZhou have played many roles with well known actresses in other love story series, their chemistry and performance in Shan Yin is still the masterpieces in their career paths so far. This web drama was their rocket ramp but also bittersweet memory that they could not deny.

I have watched a lot of BL's and I have to say this was such a good show. It hurts my heart that they never got to complete the series. I laughed, cried and was so invested in their story.
The chemistry of these two lovable actors were just amazing..it's coming out of the screen.. I never get tired watching the episodes over and over...my thoughts only.

I like how these young lovers play together and have fun doing tricks. I enjoy their company a lot. The godbrother seems to disapprove this relationship but our favourite heroes really don't care.
That Godbrother more than disapprove their relationship, he's support them at first but stab them at the back later. Seriously I hate Gu Yang so much after read the books

But I saw to his face, to his rude words and bad manners that Gu Hai couldn't trust him. His godbrother is homophobic, for sure. He is jealous of the happiness of Gu Hai and Ba Luo Yin.

It's just his personality, actually he's really love Gu Hai as well. Well, if you read the books you'll know that both of them really whipped for each other. It's just Gu Hai expressing it while Bai Luo Yin didn't, but Gu Hai knows that Bai Luo Yin love him really well.
Bao Lou Yin just didn't show it and say it out right but he even suffers for Gu Hai multiple times. Read the novel you'll understand how. ☺️

He’s smart. He makes Gu Hai wanting him more and more each day, and every time he gives in, Gu Hai would desperately try to keep and protect what they have. He literally makes Gu Hai addicted to him. Gu Hai is rich and powerful. If you said you love him, it would have turned him off.

I watched it on viki and I must say I never imagined that Mainland could produce such extra-ordinary work under the rule of such evil conservative govt. No wonder the movie was banned... but I am really impressed by the story telling and performance of both the actors. There are very subtle portray of hardship endured by the poor class and the stark economic and social disparity hinted parallely along with the love story. Also the charecters are very much relateable unlike those in Thai movies which are quite marshmello'ish. I only hope that someday the people of the country will be able to express themselves more freely and not in the image of the govt only. Art should be free and freedom produces true art.

Their career not smooth after this series were banned in mainland, it was pitiful me as International fans of Shangyin.. Even now there are many costars and celebrities they have been play together with.. but for me Jhony Huang and Timmy Xu stil unparallelled pair. No matter how many times i rewatch this series it had me fancy like first time.. cuz i stil root them tightly and never lose hope one day they shall reunited under same scene.

For me, of all imaginary BL couples, besides BKPP, these two have the best chemistry ever as a couple. They didn't seem to be acting at all. It was so real. Like ITSAY and ITYTM I can watch Addicted over and over again without tiring of the story and the leading actors. It's sad that there will never be a Second Season. The Chinese authorities are so very narrow minded.

What happened why was there no season two it was just a clipped hanger so sad when you was really rooting for them it would be nice to see what happened and if it was the original actors but if not a reboot would be good to just detail the story from beginning to end not just leave the people hanging what little it was it was a beautiful story.
