British math-rockers, TTNG, create a wall of sound that transcends their numbers. Tim Collis’ frantic tapping, finger picking, and Spanish stylings form the framework for their erratic blend of delicious notation. His tablature and chord progressions are so desirable that they’ve been made available for sale. Constant, extreme chord changes in odd tunings flow over dance-able beats. Ethereal vocals swoon over bold, echoing bass lines. The drum kit delivers rim shots, cymbal pings and driving floor toms galore while transforming their ever-evolving rhythm. They write like seasoned novelists, they perform with aplomb, they are TTNG.

For being such a technical band they are one of the tightest and cleanest bands live ai've ever seen. Flawless.
right! all these other bands that wanna copy the americ anFootball vibe need to watch this session and take notes. especially when it comes to doing vocals while playing like this. TTNG pulls it off flawlessly
try CHON
@@iwillnevergetone5 TTNG is nowhere near american football tho.
@@FoiMal123 Honestly? I prefer TTNG. American Football is a great band and undoubtedly influential, but I prefer the more mellow vibes from the vocalist in TTNG as well as the riffs.
@@KingSlimeProductions Me too, but that wasn't the point of my comment.
I never knew just how grateful I'd be to Audiotree for recording so many of my favorite bands live, since we can't have shows anymore. Thanks, Audiotree.
The guy that's announcing/leading this is incredible. It's nice to have a normal person be sincere and joke around instead of acting like a try-hard/cool guy. Also.. TTNG's performance was incredible. (understatement) I keep coming back to this session. Thanks!
They're all great, but Blake (I think is his name) is one of the best in the business. Clever, passionate and relaxed. I've actually discovered a couple of bands simply by checking out the sessions he's hosting.
The chemistry this guy has with the bands too is just beautiful to see.
It's always nice watching someone who loves what they do in action, and everyone in that room loves what they do.
This is for real one of the single best audiotree live recordings
This, both pinegrove sessions, and mom Jean's are my favorite.
I very love these band and my favorite album is animals. Sorry for my uncorrecting English. Russia love ttng
Don't worry we can understand you. Animals is a very good album.
@@Dizastermaster. no worries on English. It is always so unfortunate when I see someone shit on broken English. More often than not, the point is clear. People just like to be smart asses. This band is for the world. ❤
In Russia TTNG loves you
greetings from bulgaria brothers!
Russia is at the top of my list in talent
Cat Fantastic 0:50 - 5:34
Left Aligned 8:15 - 11:40
Adventure, Stamina, and Anger 12:00 - 16:48
Havoc in the Forum 18:52 - 22:05
If I sit still, maybe I'll get out of here 24:47 - 30:45
People that set these up are the best comments.
The host kinda scary tbh
I wish they played a song from the animals album
@@InAtlasAtLast you can find those recordings on youtube as well. Also, If I sit still maybe I'll get out of here is a bonus track on animals.
I feel like the Audiotree host is always so wholesome.
It all made sense when he said he's from Iowa.
You guys can roll into your next track.
Gage Moeggenberg idk man, this guy made me cringe a little. Overall well intentioned and a super fan
@@tattoofthesun 🤷♂️ he's just nice and keeps the questions short. Nothing cringey to me personally, but I get it.
Yeah, like they really know how to make you feel at home
The guitar riff at 13:12 put me on the floor the first time I watched this. This band is so talented my goodness
LOVE the presenter! Happiest guy ever! Going to see TTNG tonight in London, super excited.
TTNG was great and this host seems like the sweetest man in the world
I love they they still play the old stuff. That last song was always one of my favorites from the early years
I love his bass stringed guitar. That looks so fun to play.
Thats a bass VI, and they are a blast to play!
@moonboogie N8 actually it isn't, it's a standard fender jaguar bass that hank modified himself. The top two strings are bass and the rest guitar strings, so i guess it is a self made vi 😆I read it on hanks Instagram page once. But you won't find this model anywhere
@moonboogie N8 If you look closely on the head you can see where he filled in the previous holes where the tuning pegs used to be
I just love the host, he seems so happy to be there with them
The drumming on Adventure, Stamina, and Anger... Goddamn. Ridiculous test of skill.
Love the tone and chords he uses on that 6 string bass-guitar thing.
It’s a baritone guitar ✨
@Jamesofthemidwest he modified a squier jaguar bass himself, if I remember he said the top two strings are bass and the rest are guitar strings
Its so fun just observing Tim, hes such a genius when it comes to this guitar style
Years later. And this is simply...insane😭
The drummer is stupid talented.
hes too much
Listen to CHON and John Frusciante
SUCKRPUNCHED any song on the charts fits your description lol
SUCKRPUNCHED I never said i disliked it. It's one of my favorite styles of music, bro. Assuming shit makes you look stupid.
Aye, Nemo knows what's up. Chon is fantastic.
14:23 my face every time I play this riff at 0.25x without missing more than 10 notes
Lol are you talking about the intro riff or verse because verse riff is easy but intro is a bit harder
So...
Left Aligned is about a Hank's friend who died.
After reading the lyrics, i really think that this guy committed suicide.
The verse:
"Running up the walls,
Sick, stressed and all regretful
Of what life could have been.
Tired, stretched and thin,
Keep it in.
You're rolling off the rails,
Lights signal fails, amber's tail
Of compensation claims,
Screeching brakes and loud crashing sounds"
makes me cry every time, it touch my heart deeply.
I absolutelly love this band.
Actually, it's not about that. It's about a motorcycle accident and I knew the guy too. But not as well as many of my friends did. Very sad times but his memory lives on.
Nothing but chills reading that
@@robertcrane910 I understand, I'm so sorry,
do you know Hank personally or any other band member?
how old was the boy when he died?
sorry for the creepy questions, I'm just a little curious, they're my all time favorite band.
@@elliotjackypiggygambetta Hey man. Yes I do. He is from the same city as me and was in bands with various other friends of mine. Such as Pennines and Sale on Tomorrow. A very good scene here in Norwich at that time.
@@robertcrane910 oh it's cool that you know him!
as I said, TTNG has been my favorite band for about two years,
last March they should have come to Sardinia for a concert at the Rite Of Spirng, but sadly they couldn't, because of the covid.
they don't do many live shows here in italy (i live in piedmont).
It's really impressive that Hugh Jackman had time to play drums for TTNG while making the Wolverine movies.
I wonder where he and Seth from the OC met?
And Jack Reynor, he's really catching on these days
what about benedict cumberbatch as the presenter
@@josealejandrocuevas2048 not really...just Hugh on the drums hahaha
looks like adrian brody to me haha
one of the best drummers in the industry. Totally underrated. Creamy Bass lines and a vocal tone that rest perfectly over melodic and complicated guitar parts. Genius musicians
Chris does drums in another band now too, a screamo band called As Living Arrows
This band got me through university! Big fan
I've watched each of their songs from the session at least five times each. Stoked to finally see the full session!
I watch this set at least once every couple of weeks. Please bring TTNG back!
I don't even think they are touring anymore im not sure if they are making any new music. regardless they have my support. they are soo good its to bad I kind of discovered them a little to late to be able to see them but here's hoping I do one day
@@Honestly1114 posted on FB that they are in the process of writing not too long ago
@@gonknodge Thanks you. Those comments scared me for a second. I will legit cry if they ever stop making music.
Griffox check out their NA tour vid, they said they’re working on vocals for it and I can hear both Stu and Hank filling in that job
@@gonknodge check out deadb.ird on insta
its involved with ttng i think
this whole live is out of this world, the bass is so emotional, the guitar is so melodical and drummer is so creativve with his beats, not enough words to be said about this band
Love all the maths rock bands Audiotree has had on the past couple years!
I have watched the Audiotree sessions for Covet and TTNG and so far the two presenters have been really lovely people!
I watched half of this video before I realized there were only three of them. Holy moly dude.
Love this host so much, what a nice guy
I don't even know where does Tim get those tangled melodies from.
tethered tangled and tied
@@jacksuarezkimmel909 nice
Beautiful set! Thank you!
The most technical band I have ever seen; and I actually like it.
I found TTNG after some co-workers played Cat Fantastic at work a couple months ago and I've been listening to them so much since then
They’re all brilliant
That ending is so beautiful.
TTNG is always amazing as well as audiotree. I haven't seen much of the guy recording them and talking to them I like your personality bro !
please have them back on! it would be amazing :)
Wolverine is a sick drummer man; gracias por tanto, Logan
Absolute Perfection!
Fine Music Art Work, guys! Great pleasure. Keep on sailin' your boat through the ocean .. and stormy weather! Best wishes and good luck for your career ...!
I've always been in love with that bass ever since I've seen it used by them. Sadly I've tried to search for it but I only found the classic model with three single coil pickups.
(for whom didn't notice, this one is a six string bass with two higher strings and PJ pickups with the single coil between the split and the neck)
I've only seen it once in a guitar shop a few years ago, it shouldn't be too expensive being a Squier but something suggests me that it will be quiet hard to find it when I'll be in the right conditions to buy one.
That bass was definitely modified. Squier never made a bass like that. They made the bass vi with the jaguar pickups but never a pj squier jaguar bass with guitar tuners and strings.
@@zaxzumu4605 yeah fair enough. I thought it might have been out of production or something. I was quiet sure I saw the exact model in a store but I may remember wrong. thanks btw
Pretty sure Hank has videos about it, it's a bass that he cut extra notches in for guitar strings or something only these guys could come up with haha
Yeah he does have videos about it. If you want to take on a project, it's a homemade bass VI with a Squier Jaguar bass with a new tuners (and filling in the bass tuner holes in the headstock and drilling in holes for guitar tuners), bridge, and nut. I believe he also changed out the pots, but I think the pickups are original
I'm gonna refresh this 10,000 times on different accounts to get them more views.
I'm just doing the same exactly now! hahaha. Oh, and about the fact that the video has no more views than this, I think it's because most of the people can't appreciate and really feel the deep, honest and complex music made by artists like TTNG. =]
love these guys
technical ear and eye candy -- brilliant
this is so awesome
Beautiful audiotree session
21:19 that riff is so damn incredible. love that shit
I love these guys!!!!!!
best band ever. in my opinion.. rock on guys
They need to do another one with songs from animals
andy.tv And Dissapointment Island.
taveon timmons yes absolutely I would be curious to which songs they chose too.
If they bring Stu in
@@joshuagavaghan224 bruh Hank kills Gibbon. No need for Stu. Love him, but let him go. Hank got it
@@gonknodge I know the exact video your referring to haha.
Amazing performance!! Time to go practice..
It’s amazing how this sounds exactly like the record
I know this band for just a few weeks and i've never seen that cool band. That's not a kind of music i would listen to every day but i have to pay them respect. Love it
/sorry for my english, i'm from Russia
love how he smiled at 14:22 as sick of a transition that is, i may miss the old vocalist, they still make fire ass music tho.
I like maths even more now! Great set!
I get really good old emo vibes from this band. Nice find. Thanks Audiotree.
Why would someone dislike such a great work of art.... It saddens me... Love this stuff, keep doing great things:)
♋:-);-)
almost forgot to watch this today
I keep coming back
They remind me of EiTS in a sense, with the clean tones and riffs that kind of circle around on themselves. Great band!
I'm from Brazil and I say the same thing. I really hope them and Delta Sleep to come at least to South America.
12:04 did Tim just sneek Seven Nation Army into the riff?
He probably did but then again Jack White borrowed that riff from 'the microphones the glow part 2'
Thats what I thought! LOL
YO!!!!!! FANCY THAT!!!!
lol
@@skateboardedit8243 Wheres the seven nation army riff on glow part 2?
I just realized this same guy hosts all the math rock sessions

THIS VIDEO NEEDS VIEWS
TVNV
True well its an old video reposted on RUclips. A lot of people allready watched it the the Audiotree site or vimeo. I am glad they put it here too though it makes it a lot easier to find.
Drummer is a beast!
It's so clean it hurts 😭😭😭 when something is so good to destroy your motivation to play
The ASAA chorus is one of the best things in music
*gives up and throws guitar in the garbage
Love audio tree
Is this the singer/guitarist from pennines?
Yep! That would be Henry Tremain.
I fucking love this band to death. I fucking wish that their tab books weren’t sold out 🥺💀 like godamn I need to learn Adventure, Stamina, and Anger on my guitar. That is my favorite song of all time and is undeniably me.
Think I've give this video easily over 100 views in the past 2 weeks
how many parts of my soul do I need to sell to be good like these guys?
the mad minute :O
YEAH!!
Math rock... Are y'all sure this adds up?
24:48 sheesh
Are we just gonna act like that intro didn't happen. Sheesh.
I give Henry a lot of credit, he had a lot to top after Stuart left. While I still prefer Stuart, Henry does a kick ass job
fuck man i gotta come see you guys play again.
I'd give 10 Croatian kunas for the book
Find youself a girlfriend that looks at you like the moderator looks at the band
Aye !!
Aye!
АУЕ пацаны!
hi guys , what kind of bass is this ????
wanted to see the dancing btw
How Is the Man on the pin on the vocalist hoodie? Its mulder from X-Files? Or Tom Cruise in top gun?
I thought it was Luke Perry.
It took Audiotree 4 years to upload this?!
adrian brody on drums
Yvette Young brought me here.
That happens hahaja one day you cross a video of her playing on instagram and you stumble into math rock/midwest emo
Yvette is insanely great!
American football and toe regeneration ❤️❤️❤️
Anyone else out there who likes the self titled more than Animals?
Strings 0.13 - 0.54??? D:
Is he using like a guitar bass hybrid? I have seen them before but can never find them online
it's a "Bass VI," basically a 30" guitar tuned an octave down.
PulpAwesomeness this is accurate but the cool thing about it is that he didn't just buy a bass VI, he either made or had someone make a bass VI out of a bass (probably a short scale). If you look closely you can see the holes in the headstock where the tuning pegs for the bass used to be.
that is so cool!
@@oliverconlon4687 wow. Very fucking cool.
they are so polite, cool band too tho
I've seen em 4 times in CA. Twice in San Francisco, once across the bay in Oakland, and the 4th time was a real shocker when they came to Sacramento county. A place called Orangevale. They played a lil spot called the Boardwalk. All 4 times have been in an intimate setting. I'm not paying to see in a huge place where I see monitors of them playing but I wish them the best. So talented!
Oh and every time I saw them they worked their own merch booth and wouldn't turn down having a pint with you but they never over drank. They keep it right.
can anyone tell me the name of the interviewer? The guy has done the live sets for pretty much all my favourite bands, or at least favourite Audiotree sets and I think he's class! Keep up the quality interviews and quality content!
Blake
So, do we just call these guys 'Football'? Thumbs up if you get my dad joke! (excellent performance/recording/etc btw, bravo lads).
English Football, more like
