I am a new sub and deep diving all your content. You are so on point. Mel Robins has a new book called, " The theory of Let them' or something similar. It speaks to what you said. I am 54. I feel like you are speaking my language. Thank you.

I don't stand in my own way. I give myself the gift of confidence. I write poetry, do photography, teach myself theater and dance. I wrote a one-woman play on 19th century composer and pianist Clara Schumann. I am always pushing myself. I turn to positive friends for emotional support but mainly I turn to myself for my support. I don't live for my kids and grandkids. I live for my creativity. I avoid negative news and people. Each day I love life even though I have fibro.

Great idea. Also, helps you take focus off life’s minor irritations when you help others.

I’ve been retired for 20 years. The best years of my life. Every morning my husband and I have our coffee, then I make the bed, get dressed, put on makeup and fix my hair. I refuse to wear sloppy sweat pants ever. I think it’s imperative to look your best even if the main thing you do during the day is make nutritious meals, and spend time in the garden or sewing room.

I liked the reminder to get out of my own way. The word awareness comes to mind. Trying to live in awareness is the first big step. One thing I try to be aware of when someone is pushing my buttons either intentionally or like the woman at the checkout lane in front of me is to remind myself I have no idea what her day or week has been like. Tuning into possibilities about what may be going on in someone else’s life helps me get out of my own way and instead seek to be compassionate.

Enjoyed this! It hit home on what I am going through daily and what I need to do to change.

I like to put something on everyday that makes me feel good. Not dressed up exactly but comfortable jeans with a nice top or sweater and always with jewelry and make up even if I stay home. It makes me feel so much better. Dresses are fun too especially in the summer but I don’t change when I get home because really there is nothing more comfortable than a summer dress.
I’ve gotten into this habit that if I get an invitation that involves going out at night i usually turn it down. There is a mahjong and scrabble club at the library I’ve been wanting to try but I hate the idea of going out at night when it’s cold..ha! Maybe when it warms up I’ll give it a try.

I've realized I am the only one who can change my life. I need help and support from my community for certain. I know if I want to change things in my life, I'm going to have to change my energy.
You're not the only one who feels a little irritated with the people in line at the grocery store. I take those opportunities to focus on the wonderful meals I will make with my groceries, and I don't feel irritated anymore.
I'm glad I found your channel. You’re speaking about subjects that are of deeper value. Take care.

Hi Laura, really great thoughts about getting dressed a little nicer, for a movie, art festival or whatever. Makes a person feel special. I was a huge procrastinator in the past, and have really kicked this habit. I still keep 2 planners for tasks I want to accomplish this year and future. Really keeps me on track & motivated. 😂

Good idea! I’m definitely ready for a planner. I need something better than my phone calendar. I feel like a separate planner makes things more special.

I love your videos so much and understand that for many/most people, your recommendations are important, but I have to admit that for me, I don't ever find myself happy or satisfied when I force myself to go out or force myself to meet with people for coffee etc. I feel very deeply such a waste of time. I spent my entire career (corporate finance/lending) entertaining clients, forcing myself to take them to dinner, forcing myself to the theater, to concerts, to get-togethers of women. I was always completely and absolutely bored with those things. I was ready to retire at 45 but decided to wait. After finally deciding I was retiring at 54, I promised myself Never Again. I have picked up so many hobbies since retirement 10 years ago. I now love my life beyond my wildest dreams. It is quiet. It is enriching. And it is a wonderful life for my husband and for me.
