In this episode in our series of bonsai techniques we will be covering the basics spring maintenance of Japanese maples with leaf pinching or plucking. The main purpose of leaf pinching or plucking is to reduce the internode in Japanese maples as this is the main time when the internodes extend. This technique is used to help advanced trees or trees in the refinement stage. This type of technique should not be utilized on weak, young or trees your are growing out as it will stop the growth on those branches. This video will be in conjunction of a series where we will dive deeper into Japanese maple species. If you enjoy these videos please like, subscribe and leave a comment below! Love that cultivar of maple .. would love to make a forest composition with them if I get a bunch of cuttings from my newly adopted favorite Japanese maple yard tree.
