In this episode in our series of bonsai techniques we will be covering the late spring trimming of a cork oak that has been pot grown. The purpose of this video to show how to trim a cork oak that has been pot grown for the past two years and has lost it's initial form from in the ground. As the tree has leaved out and harden off, any time after that is an excellent time to cut back strong branches to let air and sunlight back into the structure. If we needed to grow these branches out for girth and thickness I would not be trimming this tree at all. This video will be in conjunction of a series where we will dive deeper into cork oak species. So please join us in this new series. Nice cork tree. I’ll be interested in its future development. For the last few weeks I been cutting back all the branches I can reach. Been doing that for years. Topping the trees is going to be very challenging for me. Too tall and too heavy.

Thank you. So whack away if the top height escapes you. I just checked today and the top already has a new bud in the perfect location
