- Am I Sleepin' on Wale? Wale is one of the most overshadowed rappers of the past decade. The amount of people who never cared to check out his music is staggering, but the reason why some people don't like him is because of his personality and how he acts in the media. Since I don't know many songs by Wale myself, I figured it was the right time to finally check out some of his music.

People are very harsh on Wale but I personally think he takes things way too personally. That phone call with Complex tells you all you need to about how he feels when people don't like his stuff.
On top of that, his interview with Nardwaur was DISATROUS. Man spend most of that interview acting like a jerk to Nard, even though he know his gimmick.

Personally, my favourite songs by him are The Matrimony, Loosing Focus, Angles, Good Vibes, Lotus Flower Bomb, Heaven on Earth, In My Bed, The Body, Ryu & Ken, Won Le Ba and Expectations
Wale biggest mistake was signing to Maybach Music. His type of mature love song and poetry doesn't fit a label consists mainly of streets and flex rappers.
That’s why they signed him though. If you were around and remember everyone of that era tried to have a “Drake”. A rapper who could go bar for bar as well as make pop rap hits. Ross purposely signed Wale to be the “Drake” for MMG while Meek handled the streets and Omarion catered to the women.
Hard disagree, I think Meek and Wale not getting was ultimately what stagnated Wale and Meek Mill somewhat. If those two was cool, I think both of them would’ve had longer successful careers.
He was at his mainstream prime when he was signed to them it was a great deal

when it comes to wale, i think the street and flexing wale aint as good as that deep thinking and poetic version of wale. In a weird confession of mine, it kind of throws me off when wale hop on a song for the streets. every now and then, it might go. but most of the time, it's not his cup of tea.

I like Wale and his music is cool. When I think of Wale, I think more of his passion for pro wrestling more than his Hip-Hop catalog.
He has a wrestling/hip-hip festival which takes place during Wrestlemania called “Walemania”.
Lotus Flower Bomb is solid and Bad would be if it wasn’t for those stupid bed springs (I genuinely can’t get into the song because of those bed springs since they won’t shut up and are constantly playing).
I messed with wale heavy in highschool I need to get back into his music one I recommend is sabotage ft Lloyd

Wale really could've been up there with drake, kendrick, cole, Mac, chance, future, logic, sean, tyler etc ,but there are so many things he did wrong that it just ruined it for him. Like taking things way too seriously, building a fan base, and using the internet to his advantage. He's a smart dude and did none of those and he had so many chances to, and just ruined it

If not for his talent he would be in the same situation many men of color face from similar areas. Generational trauma, finding figures outside of the home to feel pride and belonging, being stunted by higher paying positions having a poc quota in majority dominated areas... I'm studying criminal justice and the obstacles poc esp men are up against are deeply rooted and systematic to this day. It's not as simple as "do better and you'll see better results". He's a rapper making tons of money, anyone w that mindset had more opportunity/support than most who look like them. Imo Movin' Different lacks sociological/psychological consciousness.
