What a large shop you got there. I am envious of your set up. I have all my floor tools on casters and spend most of my time doing the tango with this tool and that in order to make it all work. Nice cutting board by the way
I did not know you could run a project through the thickness planer against the grain but it seems like you can

Hell I just ran them through. This CutTech with carbide helical cutter ate it like butter. It didn't seem to hurt anything. I am a rookie at these types of tools. I plan on building some carts for my stuff because I have to get my son to lift that heavy thing up on the table!!

Rons Woodturning shop i have the Dewalt thickness planer and it does not come with the newer style helical cutters like the way yours does. So with the routine old fashioned flat blades I wonder if it would work out as well as yours did. It I would not just wing it. I don’t want to mess up the machine. Cannot afford to buy another one

@@michaeldunn5280 I think it might just have a lot of tear out like on the end grain of a bowl. Don't hold me to that though. My super sharp bowl gouges still have tear out on end grain but you can change the angle of cut with a gouge and help it slice and also adjust the speed if the bowl is balanced enough to get more RPM. A planer is one speed, one direction. I did notice this weekend that soft wood like cedar tends to tear out even with the carbide spiral cutter. I had to switch up the angle to minimize it and left me with lots of sanding. Again, I am brand new to these types of tools and on a learning curve and will keep researching the experts to learn more just like I do with bowl making.
Thank you for the comments and glad you watched the video! I had fun.

Good to see you at work in the shop, buddy. Nice cutting boards. Looks like the bench you built around the saw will do nicely.

Would the cedar not be too soft for a cutting board. I have some and am interested but not sure. Hope the walnut strips will kind of protect the cedar
