All of our carpet pads have been engineered by the carpet manufacturer to give the support the carpet backing needs. Carpet manufacturers are so confident about their pads giving the correct support that the backing needs that if you purchase the manufacturer's pad the carpet mill will extend the warranty by 7 more years. Also if the carpet is installed correctly and stretched with a power stretcher, stretching should prevent wrinkling.
Not doing real homework like any other salesman, sheet foam has no density and density is what counts in the carpet world, of course it will out last the carpet because its a giant trampoline and will cause the carpet to immediately break down, if you want your carpet to last do not buy sheet foam, choose healthier choice or Solano green, in short to squishy and the carpet backing takes all the beating and to hard and the fibers on top take all the beating, the two pads i mentioned are the happy medium that will make carpet last as long as possible
It's to much give, you don't want the carpet bending dramatically with each footstep you take otherwise the backing will start falling apart sooner than it otherwise would

In humid climate like ours, carpeted floor just going to make our house smellier. It also gets dustier easier.

Why will sheet foam break down your carpet? (Curious)
