I have one of these and like it very much, however, do not keep the fob on your key ring because if you are "bike-jacked" (particular risk in London) the Monimoto cannot detect any separation between bike and fob. I keep the fob in my jacket pocket separated from the key.
Wise words, well said Sir.. I ahd intended to say that on the video, but with contuinity on the video it got missed, thanks for making that comment, I've pinned it to the top of the video, so it helps other... cheers!
When your at home, put the keys and fob in a steel casing, like a key safe or even a cookie tin. It blocks the signal, and makes the system thinks the distance is over 100 meters, so it alarms you if necessary. Do the same with your keyless car keys, to avoid it being stolen by using a signal amplifier.
Run these for around 8 months, had quite a few issues early on with warnings that the units battery was low when it wasn't, and several false alarms. Customer service have been really good, send me an exchange unit and collected the old one to investigate my issues. Also sent me a second complimentary unit. I tested mine by sending the wife out with it minus the fob in the car, I found her parked up down a side street in around 7 minutes 😉 regards having to have the unit and fob 100mtrs apart, if my fob is upstairs I can't even wheel the bike out of my garage without getting a phone call.
FENNER-G: Thank you for sharing that, I like the test you did... sounds like it would also be a great way to keep track of your teenage kids when they're out with their mates in the car?! Good to hear good things about it, specially the customer service... cheers!
I am Lithuanian and was looking for something like this. Saw advertisements at stores but i didn't knew its Lithuanian made. Good review, convinced me to buy it
That's awesome, I don't need one because I got a front lock and the chain on the back with a lock with alarm system and I keep my baby in the garage. Penny and Del have a wonderful week..... and ride safely
Hi Paul, my word, it sounds like you've got it pretty sussed, all you seem to have left out is the bad tempered dog chained up to it lol... thaks for watching buddy, always great to hear from you, D&Px
Del that thing is kinda neat. I had a motorcycle stolen from me once and that thing would have been nice to have so I would know where my bike was and be able to go get it back. The police officer that did the report laughed at me when I asked him if he thought they would be able to find my bike. He said "we are not even going to look for it that's what you have insurance for, it's probably already at a chop shop anyway".
Nice attitude aye buddy? And they wonder why we don't like them?! You're right, this affordable device will at least give you a chance to go visit the thief and suggest they give your bike back... have a good week buddy, all the best, D&Px
Just want to say thanks on your review on this Monimoto. Have just bought one but made my decision on this review and others just wanted that little more security while I get my new shed built Gav👍
Hi Gavin... thats great news, glad you took the plunge and got yerself one.. mine works fine and i get my update every day.. nice to know the bikes are safe...
My sister want to buy me a tracker Del I was looking at the hard wired verify and remembered this one. But on hearing that I will be informed that my steed has been taken but only after it has travelled 100 meters is a hard pill to swallow, they could even stash it around the corner to come back later for but being that the bike is my only means of transport so following isn t an option. So just tell the police or just keep an eye on the map when they stop. Great channel as always Del and Penny x
As far as i remember Marc, your app will alert you if the bike is move just one meter, i think the fob range is maybe more, so simply stash it in a metal tin and the tracker won't detect it and will arm itself..! it was a while ago i did this mate, but maybe have another check on their website..!
I like the idea of relocating a filched bike (and, by inference, possibly finding the perpetrator too 😡... oh yeah! ) and it does seem to be good value. So, "Dear Santa,...." Thanks Del & Penny👍
Certainly my friend, can't labour that point too much, but the opportunity to discuss the issue with a potential perpetrator is an interesting one... !
There are many other videos on the net my friend, some giving extensive field tests outdoors, check a few out of them as we don't intend to do this on video... a little too much to do at the moment on the project, and other work we have planned... this was just to let you know it exists, check out the company's won website, link in the description, I didn't go any more extensive than this because there are loads of videos online about it already, and there's no point in doubling up!
(P) hi Del, I’ve had one of these for about 4 months now, and it’s bloody marvellous, it sends you a ready message every day (or whatever you set the period to) and that 100m alert, I didn’t know about, but, I was on a trip to Europe in the summer, one of the mornings a mate was walking around the bikes wiping everyone windscreens for us, the device sent me a message saying it’s been moved, that was about 15m from my room. Its something you could test by leaving the fob at home and just try riding away and see when you get an alert. It’s a good buy mate. Have a good Sunday 👍
Hi Michael, thats good news mate, thanks for the feedback.. i have heard another few people say that... being able to run out and tackle the thief is a real bonus aye... just as long as yer not in yer Jim Jams though..:-(
Hi buddy, good to hear from you... you're right, this is a great piece of kit for the price, I imagine a few will be in Xmas stockings this year! Have a good week, we just saw news and it's saying snow showers possible tomorrow!!!! Chat soon, D&Px
The best and most informative review that I have seen yet, I have a new adventure motorcycle with a plastic tank (i think) infact most of it looks plastic lol, so I'm going to be getting one.
Not got much interest in this product yet still watched the whole video. That's how good you are delboy Mate! I think you could talk about grass growing and I'd probably find it interesting lol. Good work.. Keep up the vids
haha why thank you buddy, in next week's video we'll be covering page 106 of the phone book lol Seriously, that's very kind of you, it's just covering a little something that was worth a punt !
Appreciate the review. Glad you covered the distance it takes to start. Unfortunately that stopped me from buying it 😂 Need one that would tell me it's being tampered with while im tucked up in bed
Well apparently Robert... im told reliably by lots of viewers that if you keep the fob in a tin box, or even wrapped in tin foil.. then it will send you the alarm the moment its touched as it cant read the fob.. easy fix aye.?
Excellent video Del! Theft insurance here in Canada is insane money. When I ride my bike it never leaves my sight at coffee shops, stores, pubs... I have too much of my soul invested in it, Cheers, Doug
Hi Doug, thanks for sharing buddy, it's pretty much the same here now, we're quite happy to live in a rural area where it's a lot less than it is in cities... I think if we lived in London I'd have a very different bike to ride around on, just something cheap and raggedy that didn't matter... !
like the xmas gift idea , my 17 year old son has just dropped his bike insurance down to 3rd party only because of cost and the £1100 exes if he made a claim . good also to see you have the counter back on the thumbs up/down, so ill start using it again.
Hi there buddy, jesus christ, £1100 excess, it's just outrageous isn't it? Youngsters are the people who can least afford these policies and the ones most likely to need it, and as it's a legal requirement... at least with one of these he gets a chance to recover it which is essential if he's had no choice but to go to 3rd party only... like you say, not a bad pracitcal Xmas present that can actually help him aye, that's why we shared it... all the best, D&Px
Great video as always! I installed the hardwired versions professionally for nearly 6 years on everything from motorcycles\aircraft. Yes, the higher & least impeded line of sight between the unit and satellite will give you the best results. I would look into the fine print and see if they have a limit on the amount of time's you can locate the unit. That way you don't play with it until there's a service fee for use. If it's marketed for theft odd's are high it's limited use. Hope it works as well as they say & look forward to an update.
Thank you for your professional insight my friend, its great to have an endorsement on it from the trade... it can never be as good as one of your hard wired systems, but then it's a 1/4 of the price, so like the saying goes, you get what you pay for... and really appreciate the advice, I'll look in to that massive sheet of fine print for any limitations of use...
I wonder how resilient it is to heat, how closely could you mount it near to the engine as it is quite large and the only place I think I could comfortably hide it on my bike would be somewhere under the fairings which obviously means it'll be getting very hot.
I got a different brand (Tracker Home) last year. The one I have is about the same price but has a few more features. It also works at any range. The only down side is the rechargeable battery life although it can be hard wired.
I've got the Squanto tracker. It comes with a GiffGaff PAYG sim. It's quite a bit smaller than that MoniMoto unit. I haven't had to test it under real conditions yet - thankfully!
@@Moonfleet41 I'm currently involved with Vietnam era UH-1 helicopters. Thats why i noticed your hat. I have used your "how to videos" quite often and really appreciate them. Thank you.
@@jimengle3242 Thanks James, glad the videos could help you out... and how cool working on those helicopters... are you restoring them, or working at museum?
I wonder if the fob can be cloned in a similar way to the keyless fob I have for my car. To overcome that I use a Faraday pouch. I wonder if a similar pouch will prevent cloning of the tracker fob but also convince the bike you are over 100 metres away so will alert you straight away if it is being moved? Excellent and simple to understand video. Thank you.
Great review Del Having just had Trixy stolen from the back yard in a Targeted attack by the local rats I was in the market for a tracker for the new Bike And there ya go ma ol mate Del give a review of one he would use himself... Good enough for me
Hey buddy, yeah i would use one.. (well, i do now), and its good enough for us for the money they coat... there will always be limitations.. one being that a fully monitored ssytem has a 24/7 call centre behind it.. and when THEY call the Police they get credibility... but when YOU call the Police are they are likely to react with the same faith and haste as the call centre..???? one can only speculate.. but at a quarter of the cost, its worth it to take the chance.. and you get the notification yourself right away... so you have choices on what you want to do about it aye..!
Hi Steve... Here you go mate.. shop.tecbikeparts.com/products/triumph-america-speedmaster-stand Check out the rest of the website for anything else you may need too mate.. TEC Bike parts are an awesome resource for Triumph parts.. Happy new year mate... Del.
They aren't Thatcham approved, so probably not.. but that is a question for your insurance company.. the product is recognised and respected now, so why not ask the question..?
Moonfleet41 thanks I did that I phoned Bennett’s even though they have tested and had nothing but good things to say they still don’t give a discount but I’m still glad I have it now
Hi and good Sunday morning, Penny and Del- seems like a must for a city dweller. Have heard all the stories about thieves quickly locating and ripping the unit out of the bike though and putting them in the boot of an opportune car or taxi enroute which sends the coppers on a wild goose chase lol. Like you said, it’s all about where you hide it on the bike. Btw, can these units get wet? Have a great Sunday, guys. It was nice hearing Penny’s voice! 🏍👍🏍
Hi Gary.. The unit is sold as 'water proof' as it has those two rubber ring seals in it.. but i doubt it is totally water proof from heat and humidity all the time.. id still want to mount it in a dry location if possible.... and yeah, can you imagine tossing it up on the back of a passing Police truck on its way to the Police yard...lol!
In London I ride an old 1993 Suzuki savage, it cost less to insure a year (fully comp) than what I spend in the pub a week (and that's only 4 pints and a whiskey a night) Lol
Look at RJ ( Royal Jordanian) he often rides a Honda Grom (124 cc) when working in London, I don't blame him, less chance of it getting nicked. Which is why I have had a Honda CM 250 (ratter) rusting for the last four years (in the back yard) to put back on the road for the same reason!
Nice video review. I have found that once you have paid for a tracker to be fitted and then paid again for the yearly subscription, the insurance companies do not give you a discount on your policy. All that expense for no gain.
Really? I thought that was the point of Thatcham approval, I'd be very disappointed, and maybe shop around a little, if there was no trust from the insurance companies, after all, the Tracker is the most likely tool to delete their need to pay out... this is the first Tracker I've ever had, it seems at the moment the only real advantages are that YOU get to know where it is and can make the choices on what to do about that...
The company claims a year, but that is on stand by only, it's maybe 10days if it's continuously giving alarms cos it's been stolen.. but if the battery was 11 months old when it was stolen, I don't imagine you'd get 10 days warnings, so I'd maybe change the batteries every 6 months... which is no hardship...
Hmm, the smart villain nicks the bike & keeps an eye on you, when you answer the alarm call they do a ride-by & snatch the phone too . . . there's more to living near Sherwood than just twanging arrows around you know : ) x P.S. Wanna secure sundae? - try a locked ice cream van.
Ha ha You wag..! (and its not just them trousers).. maybe thats a great bait then.. get the alarm.. pull out yer phone, then wait for the "ride-by"... what a great opportunity if you were ready for them aye..! muah ha ha.! Fire extinguisher.."Dang".!
@@Moonfleet41- Phone talks to 30 amp solenoid hidden under seat foam, proctologist returns the alarm unit to you in a clean plastic bag. But you're right, 'Dang!' would indeed have a suitably just & orthodontal ring to it : ))

Thanks brother Springy, that's very kind... it does seem to be a well respected unit and great value at the same time... the company is at Motorcycle Live this week, and am sure once the world has seen what they have to offer, they'll be struggling to keep up with demand... have a good week buddy, pip pip, D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 yeah he’s recovered bike company is based in Southampton not that far away from you automatrics mtrack take a look on utube del al the best bud Austin 👍
Reckon I'd put the fob as far away as I could from the bike on my property so then it's not as far away when it goes off. Although I suppose these days it's safer to wait for them to drop it, as a lot of thieves will leave it to see if it has a tracker on
Or as Jay said below.. keep the fob in a closed metal box to block the signal.. then the bike will think its not there, and it'l go off as soon as its touched..!!!
Sure ting buddy, I can top that, I paid £103 fully comp to insure the Harley I just bought, but then I'm old, clean insurance record, 3 other bikes insured with the company and something like 12yrs no claims bonus, plus we live in the middle of nowhere, but a teenager in London, even on a scooter, has to basically lay the full price of a replacement bike, and more, in the lap of the insurance company before they'll give them a policy, which is a legal requirement before they can ride it... and many of them don't even offer theft cover, just 3rd party only, it's downright criminal, I don't know how these insurance companies sleep at night, they are taking the royal piss out of young riders, and when the poor little gits have a claim, they rub their hands, and double the premium next year, so they just don't claim... if there was ever a reason for bikers to club together against unfair treatment, it's the price of bike insurance for young riders... how the hell will biking ever continue if the young can't get in on it... don't get me started!
Just a thought can you put the fob in a metal box while indoors to shorten the range it has? so you are able to know if someone is tampering with the bike while outside your property?
That will work. Also recommended for "keyless" systems for car and bike, so that the scum can't misuse the signal from the fob while it's in your house.
Paul Slootman Yes indeed.. seriously simple thinking.. and you'd think that with the march of technology they would make a "mode" for keyless systems so that you can switch them off when the fob is 20 feet from your car or bike... specially on top notch cars like Mercs and Beemers.. !!
@@Moonfleet41 Apparently the insurance premiums here in the Netherlands is higher for cars with keyless systems, which shows that it is considered a real issue. A switch would be great but some idiots will forget they switched it off and complain :--)
It’s a hundred meters without any walls. I’ve got my bike sitting in my garage and if I move the bike with the Monimoto fob on the other side of the garage wall, I get a notification that the bike has moved.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Good news and glad to hear that mate, there's no way we could run to £500 a bike with 4 of them to feed now, so I think I'll be grabbing a couple more of these myself !
Battery life would be my concern, I can guarantee they will be dead when the bikes stolen. I checked the Monimoto website and they quote:- HOW LONG WILL MONIMOTO WORK IN ALARM MODE? - In Alarm mode, the batteries are drained fast. It depends if Monimoto is continuously moving or not (batteries drain faster if moving), but you can expect around 10 days in either case. New battery set usually is enough for up to 500 location notifications.
Stephen Cornes: Yeah, good point, I agree... it's good getting your ok message every morning, but when it's actually nicked how long is it going to be sending you locations? So 10days then.. is that enough to go get it? Not only that, if it's in a container, van or concrete re-inforced garage, then it's sending out signals but you're not getting them with any accuracy, you'll only get GSM triangulation and if that's in central London you could never find it... but this is the chance you take with a £150 system against a £500 hard wired system, you gets what's you pay for aye?
@@Moonfleet41 How do any other tracker get their signal through? any bike with any type of tracker is useless in a container or van, they use the same comms as this tracker. and i imagine any thief worth their salt would disconnect the battery to stop any other type of tracker working. I imagine if you havent got the bike back in ten days, no tracker is going to still be working.
@@michaelwilliams3861 You're dead right mate, in fact, I'd say 10 days is generous, in real terms, I recon you have a 2 day window, and if you ain't stood next to it by then, you're not gonna be... !
Hi dell and penny and merry Christmas I've just got myself the tracker I'm just wounding were to put it on my r6 2001 would you have any ideas cheers and happy New year to you both
Hi buddy, there's a few places on that, the two main areas would be up in the tail, or in the nose cone, it's up to your ingenuity to disguise and hide it, for obvious reasons, but it's not very big it doesn't have any wires coming from it, so it doesn't immediately look like a tracker, but have a good look round the back of the lights and up behind the clocks, there's a frame in there that holds the fairing on, if you can cable tie it out of sight, then that works... and the same goes for the tail, you're just looking for somewhere to disguise it where it's not obvious to see... remembering if they can't see it, they won't know it's there and that's half the game... just take some time, have a good look round the bike, and you'll find somewhere for sure, just make sure it's not shrouded in metal, such as under the tank or in the belly pan, cos that can block the signal! Have a wonderful Xmas holidays mate, thank you so much for your support, all the very best, D&Px
Have you done a video on security for those of us who dont have a secure look up? I ask as numerous insurance companies refused to insure me recently because i bought a brand new bike (£16k) and i had no garage. Even though i have alarm/chains/disclock/BikeTrac & immobilizer. Plus its under cover. Never had this problem before on any bike ive owned.
Hi Michael, "Do i have a video on security"?... it sounds like you have it all covered mate, Alarm, chain, disclock, bike Trac and immobilizer... not sure where you live mate.. but it looks like all you could do to better that is chain a big dog to it..!
thomas griffiths: Hi Thomas, we don't have one of those bikes my friend, but the headstock bearings on pretty much any bike are generic and similar, so our video on 'Headstock Bearing Replacement' should still give you plenty of tips to carry out the job, provided they are taper rollers, which all bikes should be these days... if you get yourself a manual for your bike and check out our video first, which was on the Kawasaki, you should have enough information to make a start... good luck with it...
Yes indeed, they claim about a year, so I'd change them, maybe, every 6 months, because that year is how long on standby, and if it's stolen and sending you constant updates, then it has about 10days life, so if that was stolen on an 11 month old battery, you wouldn't know about it for every long, so 6 months is not too bad just to be safe!
Hi mate, that's an interesting question... no we haven't ever done that as a video, me & Penny just use a cheap Chinese Freedcomm system, not brilliant, but they work, they last about 4hrs, which is ok for most rides, and they're a fraction of the cost of a Senna, which we just couldn't justify... they work well when Penny's pillion and just as well when she's on her own bike...! All the best, Del
Hi Walt, yes no trouble, here's a link, they sell them at Wemoto.com and we believe they will be able to post to you there... www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/hl-380990 , hope that helps, D&Px
We are in a country where it's illegal to protect your property. I don't see the need of a tracker. When your bike is gone. Police won't even show up. They'll just say this "has nothing to do with us and call your insurance company. "
... but you can show up my friend and you have the legal right to re-claim your property, damned if I would let some light fingered turd nick my bike and get away with it... and even if the police aren't interested, then you can tell the insurance loss adjusters where it is and they can recover it with the aid of magistrates...
I’ve got one on my scooter I use for work and so far it’s been great. The 100m range between the bike and fob is actually a lot less, in my experience - I’d left the fob indoors while I moved my scooter out of my garage (attached to my house) and my phone started ringing within seconds. The fob and scooter were no more than 10m apart. A down side to this system is the fob isn’t very robust and it isn’t waterproof. I just keep the fob in my pocket rather than the key ring, which is okay but I forget to take it out yesterday and washed my uniform with the fob still in a pocket! (That’s how I know it’s definitely not waterproof) Fingers crossed it’ll dry out and still work 🤞
Hi buddy, yeah that is a downside indeed, and I called the company to ask such questions, why is the fob not waterproof when it's for a motorcycle, they said they are working on a better version, so keep an eye on their website, if they update then , ask them to send you one, even if you had to pay for it, it won't be that much... many people said they work a lot closer than 100m, which is good news, someone said keep it in a biscuit tin to block the signal, I think the 100m is in clear line of sight on flat ground, but as it's bluetooth, that's the same as a central locking fob I guess... lastly buddy, just one point, if you ride a scooter and you're anywhere near a city where there is the dreadful issue of bike jacking, then never leave the fob on your keys, cos if the bike goes with the keys in it, obviously you'll get no alarm where it is, but then I guess you wouldn't do that, cos it ain't waterproof lol Hope it dries out buddy, let us know what happens, all the best, Del
Sorry to hear that Dave, it's absolutely devastating isn't it... I hope it's recovered mate, or at least, if not, you get fair, and reasonable, treatment from the insurance so you can replace it... all the best...
Waist of money imo, get an alarm, lock your 'frame' to a solid object, consider extra locks and at least two disc locks and a good cover. If you are lucky to have a garage, get a couple of garage door ground anchors and alarm as well as the above. Your bike will go nowhere, you will be alerted to any dumb thief who thinks it's worth taking time to remove your cover and grind multiple locks making extra noise while your alarm is going off.
Wise words indeed my friend, and what are your plans from when it gets nicked from outside a shop cos you nipped in for a bottle of milk, or nicked from outside your work, or worse still you get jacked in the street, interested to know how you'd handle that? For me, I don't think it's a waste of money to be able to track the bike, find where it went and go visit the thief for a 'chat'... !
@@Moonfleet41 At the shops I always at least put my alarm and disc lock on, my bike is not desirable enough for it to be targeted, followed and lifted into a van, so it's not that likely to be randomly stolen, less so with a lock and alarm. When I was at hospital multiple time a week I used to lock it as securely as I do at home, by more desirable bikes too. Jacking's do happen here, but are very rare (seen it happen literally in front of me by people I knew at the time, many years ago (they are no longer around luckily for some)) so I'm not really concerned with that and I would make it as tough as possible if someone did try, they would have to earn it lol :)
@@HalfdeadRider Ok, I get it that you've sold it to yourself that you don't need a tracker, so don't buy one, it's not compulsory buddy, there's a world of security out there to choose from and you can choose what suits you, but I would say that, perhaps, your view that your bike isn't desirable not to get nicked is a little off the mark, think of all the scooters getting lifted in London, they're not desirable bikes and they're not nicking them for money or to sell on, they nick them to use for crime, and it's ok if you're comfortable that all the locks and chains you choose to use make you happy, and that's cool... but just imagine a scenario where eventually the scumbags got through it all and your bike went missing, would you surely not value the opportunity to get it back, I can't see how anyone would say no to that... not to mention mate, remember the people who can't afford theft insurance, only 3rd party, due to their age and/or where they live... so something like this could be a lifeline to them, don't you think?
@@Moonfleet41 Ok lol. That's the reason scooters get nicked more than bikes, for their use in other crimes such as store robberies and phone/bag snatch muggings. Bikes are 'mostly' nicked by more organised crims who either strip for parts or take directly over to Europe where they are sold in countries with less laws regarding the bikes origins and ownership of vehicles in general. The bikes then need to be worth a decent wedge to be worth the effort still they will look for the easy target or follow someone to see if they get lazy with their security. Those young London criminals themselves will tell you that they will go for the easy targets. They will leave the bike/scooter under that cover where other bikes are visible with little or no security, most that are taken in London have no security at all other than the easy to snap steering lock. They will leave the bike with multiple locks and disc locks as it simply takes to long and makes to much noise, they will move on and find the easier targets. Go and see Shaun Rider's video of thieves trying to steal his MT-07 outside his London home. They pull off the cover, (not so easy with mine) one starts to grind a disc lock until his mate points out there is another one and possibly a chain lock, they leave as they know it will take to long to be worth the risk. Put more effort into securing the bike and it will be less likely that they will even try to take it, and make sure they can't carry it away to a van without setting off alarms and having to take more time than they'd like making more noise grinding locks. Put the effort in even in locked garages, get ground anchors fitted and use multiple locks. If they can't afford theft insurance, I would bet you they could not afford the tracker, let alone any subscription along with it, especially after getting the bike/scooter, the gear and any security they can afford, if any. As I said, my bike is less likely to be targeted by pros, an alarm and disc lock will stop any opportunistic thief no problem when outside a shop, take a lock and lock it by the frame to a lamppost or other solid object to be more sure it's going nowhere. It's always beneficial to take a few more minutes locking and unlocking your bike to massively reduce the possibility of it being targeted. Many bikers in even in London, including RUclipsr's use their bikes daily for years and never have them stolen because they are not lazy with security, RJ's bike (Nuda) was only taken as he was obviously being targeted and he got sloppy and left it unlocked outside a friends house. Yes trackers can be great to recover some bikes, not all with trackers are, many of those that are recovered would not have even been taken if secured properly in the first place.
Its going to be 100m in open air... with walls/floors and buildings in the way its going to be significantly less... think about it logically its not got a more powerful transmitter/receiver than your WiFi and that is not 100m indoors from a single point. Should be fine as long as you dont sleep in the garage!

So steel and concrete acts like a faraday cage? Blocking the signal. That's a shame about the insurance companies, getting bad in the States too for as much as you pay and are required to have. Have a great day guys.
Yeah same as phone signal and satnav GPS.. but none of that can be Monimotos fault, i guess its just the constraints of science aye.. but at least you get to know it's being taken right away and can make choices on how you deal with it..!
You should not review a product you haven't tried! I have this tracker and while on the surface it seems like a good idea I can tell you it has severe limitations. I'll go into more detail if you want.
100m bloody hell, I could walk farther than that when I’ve parked it up in town. So the thing would think the bike has been stolen and I’m getting alerts for no reason when the bike is sitting safe and sound. Sounds like a pointless waste of money tbh
No, the bike has to be moving before the fob detects any issue, if you've parked the bike in town, nothing will go off if the bike is left to stand still, and as many people have reported here, their's goes off when they are barely 12ft away... it's not my product buddy, am gonna be giving it a test as I use it, and let you know how it goes...
they are a waste of money ,as you will not get back the bike even if you locate it ,unless you have six big blokes will baseball bats! and the police will do sweet FA , use that money for a good bike lock
I ahd intended to say that on the video, but with contuinity on the video it got missed, thanks for making that comment, I've pinned it to the top of the video, so it helps other... cheers!
now if the key stolen you can force alarm from the app
I dont get it. What differnece does it make if it's with your keys. Wallet or jacket
@@Moonfleet41 is there any tracker that is better than this? If so how much is it ?
Yes i always have a separate set of keys I keep on my person for locks/trackers & the bike key by itself
Thanks Eric.. Genius thinking.. !
Exactly what I was thinking. 💪🏻
Yes, good point, I was going to suggest one of those rfid small bags from amazon I use for my car keys
Great idea, mine's being delivered tomorrow and this is exactly what I'll be doing, 👍
Had my one 2 years very happy with it works well
Run these for around 8 months, had quite a few issues early on with warnings that the units battery was low when it wasn't, and several false alarms.
FENNER-G thanks fennel-g, always good to hear from a real world user.
Good review, convinced me to buy it
Wow really good review you didnt even need test or use it.
@@Moonfleet41 that will be my next investment 2 Chain the dog to the motorcycle when I'm out parked in public LOL
The way my bike is set up means no metal tank over the air box. Is it likely to interfere with engine performance if i store the tracker there?
Just want to say thanks on your review on this Monimoto. Have just bought one but made my decision on this review and others just wanted that little more security while I get my new shed built
Gav👍
Hi Gavin... thats great news, glad you took the plunge and got yerself one.. mine works fine and i get my update every day.. nice to know the bikes are safe...
So, "Dear Santa,...."
Thanks Del & Penny👍
Certainly my friend, can't labour that point too much, but the opportunity to discuss the issue with a potential perpetrator is an interesting one... !
What a result, looking forward to seeing how it operates before I order my own, excellent.
Hi Michael, thats good news mate, thanks for the feedback.. i have heard another few people say that... being able to run out and tackle the thief is a real bonus aye... just as long as yer not in yer Jim Jams though..:-(
Nice one, good clear explanation as always.
Stay safe...
Thanks, you too Lee, good to hear from you mate.
Nice review Del and Penny. It looks a great piece of kit and wire free and interchangeable, you're gotta like that. You both have a good week. Cheers

Glad it was helpful Alfonso, ride safe.
Great helpful review, enjoy your Sunday guys.
Can I ask what happens when the batteries are drained? Do you simply replace them?
Yeah, they're coin type batteries, buy them in the DIY store, or even the news agents..!
Very interesting del I'll definitely have to look into this ..thanks for sharing m8
like the xmas gift idea , my 17 year old son has just dropped his bike insurance down to 3rd party only because of cost and the £1100 exes if he made a claim . good also to see you have the counter back on the thumbs up/down, so ill start using it again.
Nice piece of kit my 100 pound monster Oxford lock 🔐 does the job 👍😈
Cool vid matey, not sure i`d like to sit on it though LOL
Good dildo size designed for ladies. :)
Could be a good deterrent unlubed 😂
I have had a read through but cant see a question re battery life, has this been mentioned.
Nice little video guys good idea about hiding it in the seat may have a look into this device. Take care guys have a nice Sunday.
Thnaks buddy.. you too.. good to hear from you.. D&Px
Sound like a good product mate, do you have a link to it, I'd like to take a look as I've been quite fired up by the whole subject !
Early congrats on 100k subs. When the award arrives in the mail is a great feeling. :-)
Thank buddy, can;t believe we have come this far when i think back to those first tentative videos back in 2011.. !
Will it work in a car? Or will it get the signal blocked?
only a few places to hide something of that size and I guess the thieves already know them lol
I'd like to see a slim version which can be put in the headstock like those RAM mounts.
Jools Heeks: I guess so buddy, there are always going to be limitations and proper Trackers are a similar size to this...
The Mighty Dash: You'd have to be a bit careful encasing it in metal, cos it could seriously impede the signal, but anywhere secret is good!
Its a shame it does not have an external aerial as the tracker could live somewhere well buried then a thin aerial cable to an exposed area.
I've got the Squanto tracker. It comes with a GiffGaff PAYG sim. It's quite a bit smaller than that MoniMoto unit. I haven't had to test it under real conditions yet - thankfully!
Thank for the comparison buddy.. its great to know there is competition in this market. it helps us make the right choices..

Thank you.
Great review Del Having just had Trixy stolen from the back yard in a Targeted attack by the local rats I was in the market for a tracker for the new Bike
And there ya go ma ol mate Del give a review of one he would use himself...

I forgot to ask dose insurance companies recognise this trackers for a discount on your insurance???
Moonfleet41 lmao!
In London I ride an old 1993 Suzuki savage, it cost less to insure a year (fully comp) than what I spend in the pub a week (and that's only 4 pints and a whiskey a night) Lol
Look at RJ (
Royal Jordanian) he often rides a Honda Grom (124 cc) when working in London, I don't blame him, less chance of it getting nicked.
Wtf theres a subscription
How long do the batteries last? Before having to charge them
The company claims a year, but that is on stand by only, it's maybe 10days if it's continuously giving alarms cos it's been stolen.. but if the battery was 11 months old when it was stolen, I don't imagine you'd get 10 days warnings, so I'd maybe change the batteries every 6 months... which is no hardship...
Hmm, the smart villain nicks the bike & keeps an eye on you, when you answer the alarm call they do a ride-by & snatch the phone too . . . there's more to living near Sherwood than just twanging arrows around you know : ) x

Good video del/pen going to invest in one i think. safe riding .
If your at home you can turn fob off from the app.then it’ll go off if moved
How?
Reckon I'd put the fob as far away as I could from the bike on my property so then it's not as far away when it goes off. Although I suppose these days it's safer to wait for them to drop it, as a lot of thieves will leave it to see if it has a tracker on
Or as Jay said below.. keep the fob in a closed metal box to block the signal.. then the bike will think its not there, and it'l go off as soon as its touched..!!!
Damn that some serious coin for insurance.. i got full voverage on my 98 fatboy for 590 a year
Sure ting buddy, I can top that, I paid £103 fully comp to insure the Harley I just bought, but then I'm old, clean insurance record, 3 other bikes insured with the company and something like 12yrs no claims bonus, plus we live in the middle of nowhere, but a teenager in London, even on a scooter, has to basically lay the full price of a replacement bike, and more, in the lap of the insurance company before they'll give them a policy, which is a legal requirement before they can ride it... and many of them don't even offer theft cover, just 3rd party only, it's downright criminal, I don't know how these insurance companies sleep at night, they are taking the royal piss out of young riders, and when the poor little gits have a claim, they rub their hands, and double the premium next year, so they just don't claim... if there was ever a reason for bikers to club together against unfair treatment, it's the price of bike insurance for young riders... how the hell will biking ever continue if the young can't get in on it... don't get me started!
Try wrapping the fob in foil in the house then move the bike and see if it sends an alert in less than 100 m
Good thinking buddy, a few people have suggested this, or even drop it in a biscuit tin!
Just a thought can you put the fob in a metal box while indoors to shorten the range it has? so you are able to know if someone is tampering with the bike while outside your property?
That will work. Also recommended for "keyless" systems for car and bike, so that the scum can't misuse the signal from the fob while it's in your house.
jay6400 That is genius mate.. i like that kind of thinking, and of course it would work and make sure you get an alarm the moment its touched..!
Thats good news.. and i guess there is always a closed metal box to keep it in at home aye..!
If that was smaller you could put it inside the headstock... like those mobile phone/ GPS mounts... wonder if thats possible for a later version?
They should have a settings menu where you can adjust that meter where you can close that 100m mark
The missenden flyer had these on his channel a while back, he was a fan for the same reasons

She wouldn't bother mate, she'd take my credit card and go shopping lol
Battery life would be my concern, I can guarantee they will be dead when the bikes stolen. I checked the Monimoto website and they quote:- HOW LONG WILL MONIMOTO WORK IN ALARM MODE? - In Alarm mode, the batteries are drained fast. It depends if Monimoto is continuously moving or not (batteries drain faster if moving), but you can expect around 10 days in either case. New battery set usually is enough for up to 500 location notifications.
Stephen Cornes I’ve had my battery on for about 3 months now, it sends an ok message every morning
Can you possibly do a video on how to change the steering bearing on an Ajs js 125 please?
pretty sure he's done a video on steering bearings, they're basically the same on any bike. Its part of the fighter build series i believe.
thomas griffiths: Hi Thomas, we don't have one of those bikes my friend, but the headstock bearings on pretty much any bike are generic and similar, so our video on 'Headstock Bearing Replacement' should still give you plenty of tips to carry out the job, provided they are taper rollers, which all bikes should be these days... if you get yourself a manual for your bike and check out our video first, which was on the Kawasaki, you should have enough information to make a start... good luck with it...
Did you ask how long the batteries lasted?
Yes indeed, they claim about a year, so I'd change them, maybe, every 6 months, because that year is how long on standby, and if it's stolen and sending you constant updates, then it has about 10days life, so if that was stolen on an 11 month old battery, you wouldn't know about it for every long, so 6 months is not too bad just to be safe!
..and it depends on how much one "plays" with it!

You have a 100m garden?? That's posh... or you could put it in a metal tin in the house and block the signal lol

Had mine 3 years and I found if bike is knocked in the garage I get a notification within 15 metres.
I have my keys and transponder in a RF bag stopping signals
Hi. Does it work in Australia?
Dunno mate, that'd be a question for them!
👍👍👍
I’ve got one on my scooter I use for work and so far it’s been great. The 100m range between the bike and fob is actually a lot less, in my experience - I’d left the fob indoors while I moved my scooter out of my garage (attached to my house) and my phone started ringing within seconds. The fob and scooter were no more than 10m apart.
A down side to this system is the fob isn’t very robust and it isn’t waterproof. I just keep the fob in my pocket rather than the key ring, which is okay but I forget to take it out yesterday and washed my uniform with the fob still in a pocket! (That’s how I know it’s definitely not waterproof)
Fingers crossed it’ll dry out and still work 🤞
Hi buddy, yeah that is a downside indeed, and I called the company to ask such questions, why is the fob not waterproof when it's for a motorcycle, they said they are working on a better version, so keep an eye on their website, if they update then , ask them to send you one, even if you had to pay for it, it won't be that much... many people said they work a lot closer than 100m, which is good news, someone said keep it in a biscuit tin to block the signal, I think the 100m is in clear line of sight on flat ground, but as it's bluetooth, that's the same as a central locking fob I guess... lastly buddy, just one point, if you ride a scooter and you're anywhere near a city where there is the dreadful issue of bike jacking, then never leave the fob on your keys, cos if the bike goes with the keys in it, obviously you'll get no alarm where it is, but then I guess you wouldn't do that, cos it ain't waterproof lol Hope it dries out buddy, let us know what happens, all the best, Del
Wish i had one on my monster 2 months ago
Good informative vid , i have the perfect anti theft device ! she has 4 legs big fur coat and can do 100 mtrs faster than Mr Bolt No Not the wife !!!!!!A german shep called Sasha !
Now THAT'S what I call security !
Have you caved in and got a smart phone now Del?
.... errr sadly yes, I had no choice, but to hand over my Ludite colours and join the 21st century, but I have to say, very quietly, and with a small throat clear before it, and in very small letters, they're actually quite handy lol Hope to see you again buddy, in the Spring maybe? And we hope you're settling in to the new gaff!
weird. it works in New Zealand, but not Australia.
I wonder why?
Really?.. can it be the phone signal system there maybe..?
So steel and concrete acts like a faraday cage? Blocking the signal. That's a shame about the insurance companies, getting bad in the States too for as much as you pay and are required to have. Have a great day guys.
Yeah same as phone signal and satnav GPS.. but none of that can be Monimotos fault, i guess its just the constraints of science aye.. but at least you get to know it's being taken right away and can make choices on how you deal with it..!
As Dell explained there are other vids on the app its dead straigh forward.
good idie I mount it it the rubber tire
It’s says 100 metres if am upstairs which less than a 100 metres it works
must be a lithuanian mistranslation because it isnt 100 meters, its 10 meters, it says 10 meters on the website. 100 meters is just silly
Have you heard of Biker biker? They find and return stolen motorcycles for free !!! Check them out on YT and FB .
Yes buddy, have heard of them, saw a video once sterling work.
@@Moonfleet41 Got it on good authority that they are big fans of yours buddy. Thanks for all you do pal !!
You should not review a product you haven't tried! I have this tracker and while on the surface it seems like a good idea I can tell you it has severe limitations. I'll go into more detail if you want.
I'm looking to get one for my new bike. What limitations and flaws have you noticed using this?
Care to share?
