I think SVB was attempting to restructure their bond holdings. Yes, they would lose money if they sold their low-yield bonds. However, they were attempting to make up for it by repurchasing bonds on the open market at the higher interest rate.
The SVB scenario warns that the effects of the Fed's rate hikes are still being felt, despite the economy's so far successful resilience. Tariffs are slapped on the importer not the exporter. Price of goods were definitely raised in America if not then it was cushioned by U.S. companies doing the imports.
Tariffs will hate the end consumers, not the country that is exporting. As soon as people understand this, they will vote these politicians out of office in a hurry.

Not sure if China is in as bad of a shape that Gordon says. They still have the money to loan to other countries ours included. They are still building up their military power. So when Gordon says that China is going down, I'm not sure if they will. Remember, they own the US debt. All they have to do is call in that debt. That would be the end of the US economy. I believe they will call in the debt in full and use that to fund/payback, their debt.
China does a lot of big business without dollars, especially with US sanctioned countries. Allowing them the freedom to profit and provide loans (outside of US and IMF).

They can predict everything but the plummet that happened yesterday. The US has been cooking the books for 2 years lying about jobs hiring and low unemployment rates as well as the economy. They don't know if it's coming or going. We in a recession oh no we aren't corperations are buying back stock and laying off workers. Making record profit and raising the price of everything whenever the cost to manufacturer has been going down for 3 years. The US should focus on the US....
