Willie, this is a wonderful lesson, but how do you assign this 1-4-5 progression to c minor and e flat major. At first look I would have thought it was in c major with A as the minor.... please clarify.
I really like the Bb#11 chord. I had Gm going to Am7 then to Db/Ab then to Bb#11 I think this was the sequence anyway. Haven't a clue why it sounded good but it did.
Really enjoy reading and doing this..I love those 13th chords.. I just notice that combining the G and F.. Root and flat7 and and. Rootless C9 E G Bb D 3 5 b7 and 9..gives us a G 13..G F E G Bb D..
Thank you.. copying(self study) Jazz riff for Piano by.Frank Feldman..into the free midi writer Maestro. It was a 2 5 1 Bebop Riff 3..in case you have the book..I bought it around 12 yrs ago. it said the bar needed more rests. Could not find the grace note button..so I just guessed and tried the 32nd rests..kept on entering them. At 5 of the 32nds...it.was right. .Checked it with algebra..5/32. Applied.Algerbra 1. I wonder if it will do calculus..lol
Johnny ..this is what I have been looking for.. As I have an interest in simple church music like Amazing grace..this sparked my interest. I do a lot of this sans playing in the displaced relative minor. I like how you used C as a model. When I do this song grace..I often play a Bb7 or bVII (just dominant 7 a whole step below 1.) Then I play the F.the F7b9 (just moving thumb to Gb..then C6. Your throwing some nice subs in there. I really 👍 like the tonal flavors. This song and many others can go so many ways. I plan to join the membership. I have to repair my roof..Thats fun..but I'm a woodworker..but anyways that has priority over music..for now..send me the link..I want to act on it asap.
Hey Willie you shouldn't wear your watch as the video is been recorded! This way you can extend the lesson for hours! Haha just kidding. What a fantastic way of making a great song greater than it actually is. sounds delightful.

People programm game Engines that beat the best Chess player in the world. And yet we don't have a very good software or algorithm that generate jazz chords for a given melody. Something to think about...lol What sounds great at the endo of the day comes by experiance and ear. I guess there is no formula that you can teach.
très cool.allez de l'avant. vous êtes vraiment à encourager. nous vous tirons un grand chapeau. pouvez vous m'envoyer par mon mail à ( sergeateba08@yahoo.fr) , la version Amazing grace Reharmonization? svp merci
Well...gotta teach man. If you just wanna watch there are plenty of other piano videos online. I want you to LEARN so you don't have to just watch e, but actually know HOW to do what I'm explaining

This approach when applied to (melodic minor) takes one into Shorter/Wheeler land.
just want to point out that your first go-round of the basic melody is played in a 3/4 feel, but the sheet music shown is in 4/4...
