Deep Gratitude to Philip Yeboah and his brother Roy Crisp for the
inspiring voices. www.vadesings.com/

There is another version with lower vocals with keyboard voicings here: ruclips.net/video/rlR1tpGHV-g/видео.html
Man, you're genius, you inspired me a lot~
thanks so much, very grateful x
Jazz Duets amazing!
Correction 1:00 the roman symbol should be V not I of course. To err is human! Which is good as someone recently commented saying that Jazzduets was AI! I can assure you no.
Jazz Duets what are the notes and intervals in G11 chord? thanks for posting great job God loves you deeply
Hi! I think there's another little mistake in the note of bar 13 in 3rd reharm: the Em7b5 should be Bb7 sub, not C7
The E-7b5 is substituting for the C7 as it commonly does.
The step by step tutorial goes in to this in detail.
@@JazzDuets aw I'm sorry! you're right, I thought it as a tritone sub :/
@Mike James
Absolutely love the reharms, voice and video.
3:04 : Eb-/F plus gorgeous voice = Stevie wonder docet 😀
The singer is mesmerising ♥️😍
The lesson is awesome too..!
>*stands*
>*slow claps*
>*clapping quickens*
>*others join in clapping*
>*clapping intensifies*
>*3rd row, sixth from left whistles and whoots*
>*God descends and joins in the roar of applause*
Can you please show the voice leading or chord voicings. I’ll admit my ears need a little refining. I love the clarity, and this reminds me when I played in church decades ago! Great post!
What a truly wonderful way to see how this hymn was brought to life musically in reharmonization. And most certainly, it is something I will study and STEAL. Believe you me! Thank you, thank you thank you.
Gotta play this back a few times to understand the chord functions and substitutions...
A few times? There s a world to discover here in the last version :D
youi should make screenshot and printing. it is what I make.
Reharm #5 went right to the soul. Thanks for this video!!
God above bless you. You've done something beautiful to me today. Iam a jazz musician who is a Christian. A million thanks. Keep it up.
0:20 - Basic version
1:08 - 'Soul' version
1:57 - 3rd version
2:45 - 4th version (more 'soul')
3:32 - 5th version
4:21 - 6th version
That C7 GbMaj7 DbMaj7 Ab2 F11, secret sauce right there! YummY!
Those flats in there! Whoosh...sweep u away! Love u, bro! God bless you!
Do you know what happens at this moment ? I find it beautiful but I can't explain why it works
They are from him. Our God, the father, son of man, the holy spirit, that died a criminals death on the cross for our sins so that we can be saved, Jesus Christ. There is no greater love.
@@Johncowk. I don’t know if this is what you are asking but here’s some of my own crude analysis. I think a major aspect that makes this line so emotional is first of all that high vocal F which runs throughout that chord change and then leads naturally to the F11. That F is the major 7 of the G flat, the major third of the D flat and the major 6 of the A flat terminating in the root of the F11.
And some technical notes, that G flat major 7 appears to be (?) a tritone sub of the preceding C dominant (although tritone subs are most often just dominant chords themselves). And then from, there you essentially just have an ascending line of 5ths (descending 4ths) to the D flat and A flat. The chord progression itself is not too unusual. But the context of the key signature in which it is happening might be unusual. I think the big attraction here is that vocal F and how it fits within the structure of those chords which creates some interesting dissonances and resolutions.
I’m not an expert at theory so would be interested to hear other thoughts and corrections on my analysis.
With so many videos to choose from on the interwebs, it's a tribute to your hard work that so many come here to watch yours! Thank you from Chicago!
Thanks Pepe. I do not know why but I thought you were a Londoner!
Must be my accent ;-)
I did not hear you though. It was the look! ha!
This was a fantastic video!! I would LOVE a step by step version; these videos are probably the most helpful I've found in increasing my jazz piano chops. Keep up the inspiring work.
Totally blown away by the vocals and harmonizations. Amazing stuff 👍
Towards the end, I can feel my soul oozing out of my body
Ugh this is slowly becoming my favorite channel... so much to freakin learn from this, from voicings to the beautiful vocal runs, like I feel I could spend hours and hours on this one video and still find more to learn... thanks so much Jazz Duets B)
It’s beautiful. I love Jazz.
Thank you for this material.
Philip Yeboah killing it on vocals as always!!
his brother is no slouch either!
I often witness that that it's not always the song that moves the spirit of mankind to repentance, but the anointing on the voice and music. U my friend ushered me into the presence of the one and only King...Jehovah God. 😪
It's call music theory.
hahahaha enjoying the beauty of music from east Africa Tanzania
3:52 que lindo (beautiful)
Wonderful lesson! This song always moves me close to tears. Such a simple lyric, yet so powerful and redemptive!!
Excellent love the sounds you used for to add color and movement.
that run at 3:03 tho
Beautiful! I do a lot of those reharm with my students! I will definitely show your video to them! Really good! Thanks for sharing!
Esse canal é um tesouro!!
Can't like this video enough! CHAMPION MATE!
AMAZING job, my friend!
Great video Nick and wonderful vocals really enhance the 'story'.
thanks!
4:42 when hit F11 to g minor 9 it sounds like jacob collier
tnx.. Happy Birthday John Coltrane..
Wow! Your voice and your harmonization are wonderful! Thanks very much for sharing that stuff. Lotta love!
Beautiful Voice.. nice arrangement.
This is crazy good and educative! Thanks for producing such good content, man.
excellent approach to a concept as misunderstood as rearmonization,
explained very clearly, . in only 6 minutes ..
saves us years of suffering..
thanks a lot
Muchas gracias EXPECTACULAR ‼️
Great video. I never know which.way I will play Amazing. Grace. .I need to start writing them down. Do the work ..see.how many.tritomes..sevondary.dominant. Here is one way I might do. F to b7.chord Eb I G then Bb.chord to G7b9.( walk up from G to Ab base a octave lower. ..btw the G7b9 is very easy to make its the Ab dim7..
Just.a.bunch of minor 3rds. (Ab B D F). Breaking this down G7b9 is made by playing a G7 then raise the G to Ab.. (Ab B D F)..Thats A start ..we.options to go to Sec. Dominants. The.Eb above can be made as. a beautiful chord...F9 #5.. (A C# Eb G) Its played.on the How...then a good chord is a.choice between the. 4 chord Bb or G min 7...I wasn't planning to write this much..spent all.day putting shingles on my house. Needed a break. Oh the vocals were excellent.
(Ab B D F)
Omfg, what an amazing vocal performance!!!
Do more like this please! Don't stop !! Top duet!!
LOVE THIS!! SO USEFULL for learning reharmonizations and the power of different chord progressions
amazing grace! thanks for sharing
Also do i need to even say it how AMAZING AMAZING you are for teaching us this .. .....
Thank you very much. We need more videos like this. Excellent job !!
Nick, you really know how to parade exquisite harmonic beauty and highlight it's essence while distilling why it's works. I love your work, brother and how you demonstrate it!
I think I've been coming back to this video around 10 times, and keep on finding interesting reharmonizations and ideas, and I simply love the singing as well. My favourite part has to be fifth version where you go in to minor in bar 7 and 8, it's pure gold. Thanks a lot for this video, it keeps on making my day.
Muy bueno!! Hermoso trabajo lograste!. Muchas gracias!!!!!.. Abrazo.
Bravo👏 that's so interesting, clear and useful! Thank you💪🤘
Brilliant!
To think that long winded verbal intros with nothing to do with the subject matter wouldn’t be missed.
Who knew 🤔
More videos like this more often.... reharmonization is a great tool for learning theory!!!
This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen on this! THANK YOU!!
Amazing video. Congrats from Brazil.
I like the whole sequence of reharms together enough, that i use them fairly close to this video, so I should give credit, or at least be ready to give credit, but I figured "jazzduets.com" doesnt really suffice, what name should I use? EDIT: Ok i checked out your website, Ill credit Nick Holmes. Great stuff!
Acabo de encontrar este excelente canal... muchas gracias..Un saludo desde Colombia!!
Impresionante Nick.!! Muchas gracias...
What's the minus sign stands for? For example G-. Is it a minor third? Minor 5th?
Loved the chord progression. But would have loved the correct words to be sung. “We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise!” Still beautiful but was slightly bothersome!
really wonderful, thank you very much ;)
Glory Be To God, My Friend. Music, God's Beautiful Creation!
Great teaching job! Kindly tell us who is singing and does he have a website or Facebook page?
Interesting harmonies. I am always a bit annoyed when people use the triangle and a 7 in the chord symbol for a major 7 accord. Just the triangle please!
Killer reharm! THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!
Amazing video! Thanks for sharing!!
In the 4th case what you have wrote in the 10 bar? D7sharp9 ?5
and in the 11 bar, I can't read chord after Eb... is it "t.7" ? what does it mean ?
You say 9th or 2nd based on whether the 7th is added, not what octave it's in - our system is tertian harmony and a 9th is an extension from root, 3rd 5th 7th and then 9th... Not trying to be difficult, I just find all of this so interesting.
I'm still a beginner.. can I do any gospel songs with pattern/jumps like in the fifth reharmonization? It sounds really good to me
1. 0:10. 0:10. | 2. 0:58. 0:58. | 3. 1:45. 1:45.
4. 2:45. 2:45. | 5. 3:22. 3:22 | 6. 4:20. 4:20.
1 Grass, 2 Soul, 3 Dominant, 4 + b6#5, 5 Modal 6 Whitney
Yo, this is the real deal! love it,, so much precious theory gems inside..Thanks a lot!!:)))
How to learn to do the same? How to learn reharmonization? Could you give some advices about it? Books, courses etc
couldn't help but make a guitar face through versions 3-6
As Amazing Grace - This whole chord progressions is Amazing as well
Wowwww!!! Thanks... Amazing!!!! thanks... Thanks...
Should the classic run down at 2.40 be Eb "Dm" Cm7? not D?
So wonderful, thanks for share
Masters
Bless you
so beautiful..thank you so much for sharing this
I don't understand the difference between the 2nd and 9th. Of course, the distance in semitones from the root note. But in guitar chords this is very confusing.
Super útil tutorial y sublimes las versiones que quedaron de este tema!!
It's really nice but I having trouble with how the chords are formed. Are they inverted or start from root position?
Simply wonderful.... thanks a lot
Fun exercise and now my practice routine. Thank you.
Somebody probably already pointed it out, in the first version, one of the Fs is Roman numeral notated as a I instead of a V.
Nice! I would like to see a step by step video of this chord progressions please. Thanks
Your stuff is Gold my friend!!! Thanks!!
I felt that E7b5 sooo much on the 5th version
How coltran play this song ? (Sorry im french)
This is incredible. I still have so much more to learn. Thank you!!
Excellent video thank you for the inputs
Well done folks, well done! Great song choice. I sing this one and it has an effect like few others.
I cant read thru all the comments but let me know what's the little triangle symbol that appears on some of the chords.
Amazing voices and amazing reharm 👍😊
Thank you, teacher. Blessed today.
What's the first chord in bar 10 of the last version? At first glance I thought it was Fm6/9, but it looks like a 7... what voicing did you use here? It's a bit hard to make out from the audio because the keyboard sound is kind of broad.
Does it mean Fm6/E♭? So something like E♭ A♭ C D F?
okay how about one on how to sing LIKE THAT
The 6th one was a little much for my taste, but the fifth one was chills down the spine material
Fucking awesome! Thank you!
I like it! Very good
i will be extremely happy if you could do this for the C scale...
I have some questions: the Eb/F means that i've to play the F as the bass of the eb chord? . F7+ is major seventh or a dominant 7th chord with a 5th sharp ? In the video u have wrote a chord with this -> "II" , what means , a sus 2 chord ? .
In the 4th case what you have wrote in the 10 bar?
II means 11th.
Eb/F means that i've to play the F as the bass of the eb chord? yes.
where do you see F7+ ?
In the 4th case what you have wrote in the 10 bar? me too I don't see what is writing : D7sharp9 ?5 and in the 11 bar, I can't read chord after Eb...
4:25 really reminds me of Jacob Colliers style
