Since AmEx has a 2% cash back on everything card, the Blue Business Cash, the Blue Cash is only valuable for groceries at less than $3200 per year or so. Above that, it makes sense for Blue Cash Preferred users who exceed $6000 per year. If they would only change the Preferred a bit, I could change to a single card.
@@MarkReese Easy. I need 6% on groceries up to $6k 3% next $6k 4% on travel including gas 3% on dining 5% online 3% on streaming 2% on all else I'm already getting all that and more with a $95 fee and 7 cards. If AmEx came up with a single card I'd pay $125. And if they changed their MR points to 1:1 for cash, and a bonus system like Chase has, they could do some serious damage. However, their current model gives them twice the revenue of all Visa/MasterCards combined so I don't see a lot of pressure.
for the everyday, you have to buy a the grocery on a less traffic day like monday or tuesday and go the self service checkout and purchase 20+ separate transactions (which is ridiculous, hahaha) to avail the 2.4%

So are these cards not credit cards? Do they have credit line limits? How do they show up on credit reports? Do they affect credit reports in the same ways if they are not actually credit cards?
- They are regular credit cards - They have regular credit limits - They show up on all 3 credit reports - They affect your credit score like all other standard credit cards
@@RedRider1600 - Only the 'charge cards' are unique in that way, and include: - Amex Green Card - Amex Gold Card - Amex Platinum Card - Amex Centurion Card - Amex Plum Card This holds true for personal + business + corporate versions. They show up on your credit report as normal, except they don't show a credit line. Therefore, utilization is not taken into account. However, they still report payment history & account age.
Hi Mark - for one to use everyday card to earn MR points, you must be a die hard MR points guy... what I mean is that 2x supermarkets is very low compared to 5x (granting it rotates every quarter) from Freedom flex (which earns either cashback or UR points).... and if you really want to stick to MR points, use the BBP when the Freedom flex categories rotate and doesn't earn 5x as it is 2x on everything and has $0 AF... you may diversify the points but is that correct? sorry for the questions but I want to maximize the points to earn... I even read in an FB comment about people buying gift cards in groceries like Publix to maximize the 5x in a quarter to be used later on another quarter
It depends on your goals. Amex has a lot of airline transfer partners that Chase doesn't, so where you want to go may influence the points currency you focus on. And for low to moderate spenders, I recommend staying with 1 points currency until their goal is achieved. Otherwise they'd end up with a small amount of points across a bunch of different programs that don't add up to anything meaningful. For moderate to high spenders, they could consider earning in multiple programs. Of course, I'm referring to everyday spend. The exception to all this is chasing after welcome bonuses: you can diversify however you want because you can get a massive influx of points in a short timeframe.
I recall seeing $350 sign up bonus for the blue cash everyday card, and I actually applied but got rejected. I found out the 100K offer on platinum card, and applied then got rejected again. Afterwards, I decided to open an Amex credit account for free and wanted to see how they evaluate me. After about 2 weeks, I logged. into the account and found out lots of prequalified offers. I got 75K offer for the gold card. When I started to use the gold card and became a member of Amex officially, I then found out all those other offers are gone. Once I logged into my amex account, I can no longer see 100K+10X points on platinum while I cannot find the 350 offer for the blue cash everyday either. Eventually, I do want to get the platinum card. I don't know if amex will honor the rewards when I follow a 100K link without logging in. Of course, I don't know how Amex think, I might get rejected again if I really apply for it.
@@MarkReese Thanks, Mark! I have a gold card for now. I actually applied for the platinum card 3 days ago and got rejected again. Amex said the amount of time being an amex customer is too short. Plus I have too many inquires and a short overall credit history.

I’m looking for another no annual fee card with benefits. I do have the city double cash but I was thinking about the every day because of the point system ? 🤷🏻♀️ also thinking of the Amex trifecta to maximize travel
@@shaligasuksomsong - Great! In that case I'd recommend the Amex Blue Business Plus (BBP) card instead. It has no annual fee and earns 2X points on all purchases, up to $50K spend per year. The EveryDay card would only get you 1.2X if you use it 20+ times in a month, and the grocery category isn't useful to you since you have the Gold Card. Make sense why the BBP could get you a better return? 😃
I just got approved for the blue cash card and at first I was thinking of going straight into applying for the gold card but I was afraid I was going to get rejected so idk if I made a good move by getting the blue card first and build my way up then.
Hey Julie! CONGRATS on your Amex Blue Cash Everyday approval 😃🎉🙌 Such a great cash back card with no annual fee 💯 The Gold Card is actually quite easy to get approved for...I'd say just as easy as - perhaps _easier_ - than the Blue Cash Everyday 😁👌 The reason is that the Gold Card is a charge card and not a credit card.
@@tiffaniacarter2217 - Yep. In general, Amex 'charge cards' with no preset spending limit tend to be easier to get because there isn't an actual credit line being given to you.
Hey there! The cash cannot be exchanged for points; however, you can redeem it as a statement credit against your balance. For example, if you have a $300 balance on your card from your purchases, you could redeem that $95 Reward Dollars to pay off part of your bill, so you’d have $205 remaining after the redemption. Does that make sense? 😃💳
@@MarkReese thanks did this earlier today , felt like the cash back is not that good I’ve had this card for a year now and 200.00 will give me like 2$ 😂 and the rewards gifts are eh just got a csp card so gonna try to cash in and get my 100k bonus
@@dubwavy6386 - Yeah the Blue Cash Everyday card is best used for that 3% U.S. Supermarket category...that's about it 😁✌️ For the 100K bonus you mentioned above, did you already receive it? Which card? 😃
Hmm I'm a little over 83k points I was looking for something to use as an everyday card with amex was thinking the bluecash but been looking into the everyday credit card or everyday credit card preferred.
Hey mark little question Let's say my credit limit is 1000 and i spend 200 dollars during billing cycle. so i used 20% of my credit limit. That would be considered 20% utilization. If I pay it off AFTER the end of billing cycle (close date) but BEFORE due date, does that count as 20% utilization? OR is it only considered utilization if i carry the balance PAST the due date?
Hey Allen! If you pay off your $200 balance _after_ the end of the billing cycle but _before_ the due date, it will still report as 20% utilized. That’s because your balance on the day of your cycle close date is what gets reported. If you want a lower utilization to be reported, then pay your balance down / off _before the close date._ (Note: An exception is U.S. Bank. Instead of reporting your balance on the close date, they report your balance on the last day of the month...likely the last business day.)
@@MarkReese gotcha just watched another on of your videos and makes sense that the utilization is what gets shown on the statement on the day which the billing cycle ends. Right now im using the discover it secured card. this is my first ever credit card and i made my first purchase with the card. now im at about 17% credit utilization but for some reason i can't seem to find any option on the website to allow me to pay down my balance right now. will have to call discover but thank you so much
@@MarkReese thank you, gotta say you make your videos soo simple and clear that anybody could understand it. anybody who has any questions about credit cards, i'll be sure to refer them to your videos :)
Hi Paul! Correct. The 1:1 transfer ratio refers 10,000 Membership Rewards points becoming 10,000 miles/points in the partner program. (On the contrary, Citi & Capital One don't always have 1:1 ratios...so the total # of points you start with could be totally different than what you end up with in the partner program). // That said, the 2.0¢ per point value represents the average value of MR points when used for travel in general. That includes portal redemptions, airline transfer partners, hotels transfer partners, and more. Portal redemptions have a fixed value, but when you use transfer partners...the value is totally variable because the programs are different...and so is 1st class vs. coach...and so is a Super 8 motel vs. a Ritz-Carlton, etc. Since it's possible to get point values all over the place, the 2.0¢ value is just an average derived from a bunch of scenarios. Make sense? 😃👍
@@MarkReese I have 4 credit card the lowest limit is 800$ that was my first credit card that got approve and the highest is 11000$ all zero balance and really want to get another one like Blue Cash is there a limited of credit card you could have ?
@Mark // Credit & Finance Is there a limit to I am how much you can get on the blue cash every day since it’s three times and grocery stores like the previous card where it was $6000 does a blue cash every day have a limit or is it just three times points all year
I chose the EveryDay card. I shop more at Walmart, so the Blue Cash would be no good as well as the Green and EveryDay cards that only get 1x per dollar. Once I get the Green card minimum spend just like the EveryDay, those two will be used on occasion. I get gas once a week, so that would not be good on the gas category. And its extremely rare I go to a department store. The EveryDay is good to keep my MR points alive if I get tired of paying the annual fee of the Green card one day along with my Blue Business Plus card and EveryDay cards. On the cash back side, I chose the Cash Magnet. So altogether, I have the Green card currently, the Amex EveryDay, the Blue Business Plus since my spend is way less than $50,000 for 2 MR points per dollar spent and the Amex Cash Magnet on Team Cash Back to get 1.5 % on all purchases at places like even Walmart like on my Chase Freedom Unlimited at a minimum. Its good to have options.
I think I'm gonna get the Amex everyday since I can't make up my mind on a hotel or airline card 😕 just gonna wait to get my welcome bonus on the cash magnet card 😩 I really don't like the design of these cards but oh well.. I wonder what they've looked like throughout the years lol
Hotel & airline cards are typically best for the perks & benefits...not for everyday spending 😃✌️ If you can't decide on one, then a more general travel card like the Amex EveryDay card is a great alternative to earn rewards 💯 I believe these 2 cards featured in the video have had the same design since they were first launched 🚀
I'm thinking about AMEX since it is one of the 2 BIG 2 credit card issuers. I know I probably said before I wasn't interested in AMEX but i'm taking another look again. Which Beginner AMEX card out of these two earns the membership rewards? I'm assuming it's the AMEX Everyday Credit card right? Also which one would be good for the AMEX trifecta but would earn MR points if I were to get that far as well? I'm also assuming it's the AMEX Everyday. Thanks as always for replies! I was kinda looking for an AMEX card that competes on the same tier level (tier 2, according to credit shifu tiers) as the CFF and CFU but has membership rewards as the CFF and CFU have their UR in this same tier level of the AMEX and chase cards I am mentioning but would be membership rewards vs ultimate rewards. hopefully u get my question. thanks. I'm interested in the no annual fee AMEX card that earns the MR points for now. That's what I need to know
(1) The Amex EveryDay Card (i.e. the silver one) is the one that earns Membership Rewards points (2) The Amex EveryDay Card is also the one that works with other cards that earn MR points if you want to pool them all together. Are you interested in travel rewards or cash back?
QQ Mark!! Aside from Chase having a couple of cards for "Drugstores", which card in the AMEX Lineup would you recommend for Drugstores? (CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, etc)
@@jpanic2 - Awesome 💥 Best Amex Card for pharmacy purchases will be the Blue Business Cash (cash back) 💵 or the Blue Business Plus (MR points for travel) ✈️
@@MarkReese so basically those are 2% and 2x respectively. Citi has the Double Cash, but if I’m looking for Max rewards from Drugstores from any card it would be the Chase Freedom Unlimited (3%, No AF)?
@@jpanic2 - Correct. Amex doesn't offer any cards with a drugstore / pharmacy category. If you want the highest return possible, I recommend the U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve. That card earns 3X on all mobile wallet transactions, which equals a 3% return for cash back or a 4.5% return towards travel 👊 Otherwise, you could consider using the Amex Blue Cash Preferred for a supermarket-based pharmacy; just transfer your prescriptions to earn 6% 👍 Same holds true for department-store-based pharmacies (i.e. within Target or Walmart). You could get those store credit cards and earn a higher % if you fill & pickup your prescriptions there. All that said, the Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Freedom Flex would be the best option for a no-fee card earning 3% at any major pharmacy.
Glad it helped, sniff! Note the pinned comment above. The Blue Cash Everyday has changed dramatically since this video was published. The Everyday Card is still the same, however.
I currently have the free version but got email offer from Amex to upgrade & get 40K MR points after spending $2K! I think it’s a good offer but also just got Platinum 100k offer & that comes with 10x MR points on Gas & Grocery stores... hard decision! Any thoughts?? WWYD?

@@MarkReese why do you say the Gold is much easier to get approval for than Blue Cash because it’s a charge card?
@@tiffaniacarter2217 - Yep. In general, Amex 'charge cards' with no preset spending limit tend to be easier to get because there isn't an actual credit line being given to you.
@@MarkReese ahhh makes sense. But they still go based on credit factors?
@@tiffaniacarter2217 - Correct.
I have 95$ on my blue cash but I don’t know how to use it really can you exchange for points ?
Which card? 😃
new sub here. one of thew few videos I watch till the end haha. thanks man!
Thanks so much Josh! 😃🙌 More watch-til-the-end content comin' your way! 🎬

Thank you Rayhan! 😃🙌
Hmm I'm a little over 83k points I was looking for something to use as an everyday card with amex was thinking the bluecash but been looking into the everyday credit card or everyday credit card preferred.
Hey Fernando! Awesome that you've got 83K+ points 🚀 Which cards do you already have?
Hey mark little question
Let's say my credit limit is 1000 and i spend 200 dollars during billing cycle. so i used 20% of my credit limit.
Right now im using the discover it secured card. this is my first ever credit card and i made my first purchase with the card. now im at about 17% credit utilization but for some reason i can't seem to find any option on the website to allow me to pay down my balance right now. will have to call discover but thank you so much
oh never mind i just linked up my bank account and now i am able to make the desired payment i want!
@@alen-commentnazi8774 - Aweosme glad ya got it figured out! And congrats on your first credit card 😃🎉 You made a great choice going with Discover 💯
@@MarkReese thank you, gotta say you make your videos soo simple and clear that anybody could understand it. anybody who has any questions about credit cards, i'll be sure to refer them to your videos :)
Hi Mark - clarification please: on your graphic you say avg transfer points of 2 cents, but then you mention that transfer points 1:1 thanks
Hi Paul! Make sense? 😃👍
What the credit limit on the blue cash everyday ?
The Credit limit will vary based on what you get approved for… It's different for every one 😃👍
@@MarkReese I have 4 credit card the lowest limit is 800$ that was my first credit card that got approve and the highest is 11000$ all zero balance and really want to get another one like Blue Cash is there a limited of credit card you could have ?
U R FKING GENIUS! Thanks 4 helping out🤨💯👍

Points or cash? Which do YOU prefer? 😃✈️💰
A little bit of both 🤨
Both
Points, they make me look forward to a nice vacation
Cash
Definitely great to have options!
Awesome video
Thank you!
Wish I could downgrade bcp to the point earning everyday card
Different card families 😬
Cash back all the way
😎👊💵
That's what I need to know
I'm thinking about giving AMEX a try maybe someday..
(1) The Amex EveryDay Card (i.e. the silver one) is the one that earns Membership Rewards points (2) The Amex EveryDay Card is also the one that works with other cards that earn MR points if you want to pool them all together. Are you interested in travel rewards or cash back?
Enjoy all your videos Reese ↖
Thank you Marco!
I can't stop staring at them
The power of the hologram is real 🪞
QQ Mark!! Aside from Chase having a couple of cards for "Drugstores", which card in the AMEX Lineup would you recommend for Drugstores? (CVS, RiteAid, Walgreens, etc)
Do ya want cash back or travel points? 😃💵✈️
@@MarkReese I’m open to both. Because I have the AMEXP and AMEXMBB and BCP and AMEXG🤦🏿♂️
All that said, the Chase Freedom Unlimited or Chase Freedom Flex would be the best option for a no-fee card earning 3% at any major pharmacy.
wow this is the exact video i needed thx. im team travel
WWYD?
Amex is showering you with points! 😄💯 First, would you be able to handle both spend requirements with your normal spend? Second, do you intend to use your points for travel?
Podría explicar en español por favor gracia.
