Nice explanation of a complex subject. Handy to point out that the charts often have a VOR switchover point along the airway to help decide when to switch from one VOR to the next one.

very informative, thanks V1. Trying to get some VOR nav flying in the King Air. Needed a vid like this just to really get the basics of VOR nav down.

Do you have more tutorials? You have wonderful pedagogical awareness. Many videos I find on RUclips are of people who can’t explain things very clearly and aren’t actually proficient and effective teachers.

I would say the title is slightly wrong. I would say this is radio navigation since you could use more than just VOR stations, ADF, or ILS. You name it. If I’m wrong then I’m still learning 😀. That is what makes a good upcoming student private pilot

Great Lesson on VOR's. IS it true I heard the the FAA is eventually doing away with all VOR stations across usa?

It’s a shame because they are such a great alternative to GPS equipment and great VFR landmarks too! If the FAA gets rid of them it will cripple most early GA aircraft and purely rely on vectors or VFR unless has gps equipment. Also in my opinion if you don’t know how to navigate through radio navigation I would say that’s needed for a PPL especially
