The back side of the red one obviously resembles that it came from the world's fourth smallest leaf blower, and this black one you're showing now (7:27) must have come from a bigger leaf blower
I've always wanted to do this to an entire room with box fans. Just put box fans all along the walls and ceiling, so that they're practically made of nothing but box fans... and then see how cool the room gets with all those fans running.
Actually i've already done that lol, and having like 15 60mm delta fans spinning at 9000-15000rpms is bloody loud but the air coming off them is insane! If anyone is interested in seeing that let me know and i'll post an updated HD video of the fanbox.
THIS IS SO SO SO SO COOL!!! I also have an interest in computer fans. My dad owns his own computer shop and he is always throwing computer fans away. And i think computer fans are the coolest thing. Major Props dude. I need to post a vid of the xbox that i modded with 10 computer fans.
the only fans that will be moving air are the ones that have the highest shutoff head. As the pressure a fan pushes into increases, its volume will decrease. By directing all the air towards the same place, you create a back-pressure and move a lot less air then you could have. Computer fans do not have very good high static performance.
Hey, do you know what the large top stepper fans model number is? It sounds pretty nice, and I need something similar for a project I am working on too! Thanks
Gain Medium the cheapest strongest 12V power supply I have found is for servers, they're loud as hell but like the one I have from an old dell server was $15 and puts out 60A at 12V
i had tried something like this already with a permanent magnet motor... it didn't work that well mainly because theres just too many holes for the air to go out through, the 1 big fan can't puch enough air to get all the computer fans spinning.
Awesome project, but I cant really see the point of it - there is a lot more efficient ways if you just need to transfer power or to convert it between DC and AC, lower/higher voltage etc. But it would be awesome for example to to put all the fans in one or 2 frames than can cover one or 2 open doorways or windows - if opening another window/door at the same time, that will be a nice wind tunnel thru a house or apartment on hot summerdays or if some really powerful ventilation is needed. Computer fans is pretty good compared to their size so if you have this many of them, there could be some serios air flow
Geez I have no idea lol, the fanbox has been updated quite a bit and now has very powerful server fans which would probably cost a lot if bought new, so that being said id say theres at least $1000 worth of stuff in the box.
hehe you said it!, on a side note alot of the fans in that box when i did this video have been replaced with more powerful ones.. i wouldn't be surprised if they all were pushing out 4000-4500cfm!
Worked on it off and on for a few months back when I built it and had been swapping out weaker fans for more powerful ones when I got them for sometime after that.
Does it feel like a vertical wind tunnel with all that air coming out? I think it will be cool if you make a vertical wind tunnel for simulated skydiving if you get enough fans for 156 mph rising winds...and i wonder how much CFM is 156 mph wind.
I dont understand the purpose of this project. a decent industrial squirrel cage fan can be had cheaply and would blow this thing out of the water in terms of flow rate, reliability and maintenance. What was the objective of this?
pointless, but having a point is not necessarily part of the idea. Thats impressive, I'm curious how much power this thing draws (Idk if it was mentioned I didn't feel like watching all 25 minutes of it). Oh, you can increase the efficiency of the squirril cage fans by removing the shroud, the only purpose of the shroud is to direct the pressure difference towards a heat sink, in your orientation the potential doesn't need orienting because it is summed inside the box. Do a test before you gut all your fans though.
niiiice :D although having no dust filters made me cringe :( and *cough* drinks power this is really innovative, using the flattened coat hangers and all is really innovative and a great idea, although touching it might zap you when its turned on :c
Although I see no point in what you did, I actually found this to be quite interesting. You sound young so I am wondering how you gained so much knowledge? I do have one question, and that is aren't you afraid of getting knocked on your arse from all the electricity?
I'm 32, and my grandfather got me interested in mechanics and electronics when I was just barley a teenager and from than on I learn by taking things apart and seeing how they work, and as for your question if your referring to the fanbox most of the voltage in it is only 12v and some 24v.. I don't think I've gotten a shock from the fanbox as of yet.
Yea.. you know when you stick your head out the car window on the highway its difficult to breath because the air is rushing at you so quickly?...well the air coming out the top of this will do the same thing..its THAT strong!
now i can finally overclock my r9 290x
XD
hahaha xDDD
It sure as hell will run at 96* isntead of 96.45 as it did before. Well done.

Looks fan-tastic.
And fun-tastic
This might just about able to reduce the pentium 4 HT's idle temp from 9000000C to 8999999C
120 computer fans + one big fan, to power one computer fan :D
Use the stepper motor for an air conditioner [CENTRAL]
Using 200w of energy to get 10w... Genius.

now replace them all with delta fans
Fuck that. Hook up 8 AC furnace fan blowers in PUSH/ PULL. now thats some serious static pressure
Actually i've already done that lol, and having like 15 60mm delta fans spinning at 9000-15000rpms is bloody loud but the air coming off them is insane! If anyone is interested in seeing that let me know and i'll post an updated HD video of the fanbox.
HL4EHalfLife yes please...
HL4EHalfLife i have a one it bloody awesome.
YESSSSSSSSS. I had a delta fan once, ONCE. I was stupid and over-volted it. Good lord shrapnel EVERYWHERE.

What's the point of modding an Xbox with ten fans that already has enough air cooling
I love computer fans

Put this on your attic as your whole house fan. It will definitely cool your house.

I am already aware of this and that's why the shape of the fanbox mini isn't a square. Check it out if you haven't already FanBox Mini
What is this for again?
It's for blowing up his ego!

No I do not, the info on it is long gone.
Can you push storms away with this contraption?! Great scotts!!
LOL maybe... or maybe I can create a storm with this haha.

You think this could cool my 390?
All you need are dust filters, and you have a damn air purifier.
I know i found this late, but seems legit.

How did you measure your cfm?
Filter? 4 the dust?
Turns on PC: It flies away
hey man, can I get the link for the fan and stepper motor.
Sorry no info on either.
So, what was the purpose? Use fans to blow on a fan to generate electricity?
Hmmm... I wonder why they don't do that on large windmills.
i had tried something like this already with a permanent magnet motor... it didn't work that well mainly because theres just too many holes for the air to go out through, the 1 big fan can't puch enough air to get all the computer fans spinning.
who would win one spec of dust or a bunch of fans
almost 4000 cfl at 3.5 amps is that good ?
i don't understand what your trying to accomplish with this project, is it supposed to replace the blower in your furnace or something?
It could lol.. but don't have a furnace, have a heatpump.
computer overclocking
The most powerful fan I got is the AVC blower is2.85A
how many amps it takes? I mean it needs a bridge rectifier for some
3.45 amps as stated in the video.
can I travel back in time with it?
Lol i dono but i think it could propel you forward in time.
You will never have any dust sitting in your room :D
he will actually have ALOT of dust collecting on the blades though
Would this fix the Xbox 360 RROD?
Where do you get all these fans from?!
From old pc's, power supplys, big printers, and anything else you would find a computer fan in.
@@HL4EHalfLife I need to find more powerful ones from dell computers PC. I want a bunch lol
Where Is the moderbord or the PC
Holy shit thats just a fire waiting to happen
the fans on the sides are creating a air pocket so all the volts are from the high flow fans at the top as there not in the air pocket
Wouldn't you be using a lot more power than you're generating?
Yep but that's not the point of it.

some would say that i am quite the 'fan'of this video!
Neighbors at 2 in the morning:
So the bigger fan doesn't have a power switch?
How much would you sell this for? If you did?
Geez I have no idea lol, the fanbox has been updated quite a bit and now has very powerful server fans which would probably cost a lot if bought new, so that being said id say theres at least $1000 worth of stuff in the box.
but is it perfect for gaming?

how much time did it took you to make that?

You talking about me or Yassir Yassin?
what is da point of dis u use more power powering da fan than genorating
Would you loose money on this or gain?
Proably only turn it on in night beacuse electric is cheaper at night lel
Those fans are too powerful to cool a workstation!
wait, shankster you're here. i didnt think you would be here
Is all 12v run with 12v?
Power supplies are outputting 12v DC but takes in 120v AC.
One day, when your channel hits a significant milestone, you should POP IT!

Yes, its pushing enough air that it makes it difficult to breath if you put your face in front of it.
that laugh at the beginning lol
a cool way to power 1 fan using 120.
i like bolting them back to back
