Just wanted to shout out as your tag line is half of ours. Ours is Make, Learn, Share, Repair. Enjoying seeing what you are doing with your space. I wish we had those kind of facilities for our little community project.
The LEDs look great. I feel like a few strips behind the TV would help tie the two sides of the set together since both the TV and the centre shelves are dark spots.
I'd add backlights behind the TV to match the below shelf coloring. I'd also dress up the lower wires with black electrical tape or loom tubes and tidy them up where possible. You have a great opportunity to put monitors all around tied to working 8-bit computers and projects. No sense in missing that opportunity as you expand. You and David are doing incredible work, keep it up!
What a transformation from a drab office space to a dynamic looking studio with some life to it! Really nice job Mike...and thanks for all the pro tips along the way too for us DIYers. Looking forward to what's next!
Very nice start, sir. As others have noted, I, too, am not a fan of RGB lighting, but to each his own. I would have a dedicated setup for 'projects', or a table/desk extension to bring in (like a run-off table extension for a table saw) and a nice cart to roll in for sample/example showing off purposes, to not take up valuable floor space. For your pod casts (especially if you plan on doing it 'in the round', I'd try monitors on the side walls, too, so people don't have to 'swing' back and forth between something they need to look at and talk to the mic/camera...
I love what you've done to the place, Mike! I also love that your Amiga 500 is seemingly mocking me. (I miss my old Amigas!) Great setup and super-inspiring content from you and David, as usual.
Wait just a dang minute?!? How have I never known about this channel?!? I've been subscribed to the iBook Guy for like a decade and I was today years old when I discovered TheGeekPub. At first, I thought this was a branched timeline from some kind of 8-bit Guy nexus event but learning that you are brothers is still mind-breaking... how did I miss this?
I really enjoyed this! Watching you work in your shop always makes me wish I had the room to setup a workshop. Looking forward to more videos from the new RUclips studio set.
Looks great. Thank you for explaining and showing the building steps and saying what the material you use. I always learn alot from your videos. Thank you again!
Looks so cool! - I'm very impressed with the results here, the shelving looks so amazing free-floating like that. I definitely will be looking into doing the same. Also looking forward to the podcast in this beautiful space :)
Looking fantastic! I love watching these build log type videos for people's workspaces. Also, usually not a fan of RGB lighting but these look awesome! One thing I notice about David and yours' content is that the editing style is really similar. Does one of you edit both of your videos / do you guys have an editor? Just curious, looking forward to more content!
Hello Mike, Danilo From Brazil, I really like to see more of the Studio, Like what kind of additional lights you're using (softboxes? spots? light diffusers?, or just the ceiling lights are doing a good job?) and your sound setup (like your choice of a microphone) you know, I'm building my own studio, mostly to broadcast and record classes and courses... I'm new here in The Geek Pub, but I'm loving to see your videos, Amazing!
I think it would be cool if the tv showed some gameplay of retro games or even some of your older videos. I would also try to turn up the TVs brightness a bit.
I’m inspired to do this - and I’m not even a content creator. I just need a place to put my small collection of vintage audio equipment that’s just sitting in a spare room.
nice.. only thing i thought of, put a strip of leds at the top and bottom of the TV to tie in the two sets of shelves and get rid of that dark spot in the middle :D
WS2815 rgb leds are a bit easier to work with. Same protocol, but they work on 12V - less amps to deal with and no color shift on long chains. ;) Backup data pin, that they also have, doesn't hurt either.
When you showed the 2nd plan for the space and then said "I'm already using an IKEA sit stand desk", I was like "oh cool, looks like he's going to use IKEA KALLAX and LACKS", but nope, you built them yourself. I'm interested to know what the cost breakdown of your wood was to see if the IKEA version would have been less expensive than building them yourself. LED lighting looks great, are you using WLED to control them?
I think your brother should take some notes from you, you have a very fun editing style. Also, the entire studio came out great! That shelving technique for solo projects you mentioned is gonna help me out tons in the future, lol.
Looks good. Be careful with the reflection off your RUclips plaque, shown in your closing. The reflection might be distracting, reflect light or reveal any "behind the camera" secrets.
We built a new RUclips Studio set for our future videos! Let us know what you think, what you'd change, and what you love or don't love!
I have been waiting for this video!
Hope it was worth the wait!!
It turned out nicely.
I Have a question.
Love everything about it!

Its like an alrenate universe where 8 bit guy was his brother making thse videos

That’s a great idea!!

Thanks for the kind comments!
Man that studio looks like the perfect hangout spot!
As a matter of fact... ;)
Looks good. That light display brought me back to my teen years in the 1960’s. As we said back then, Far out, man!
Awesome build. I would love to see you guys go deeper into the RGB setup and technology used to control them.
Looks modern and elegant, well done.
Mike, the new studio looks Awesome! Looking forward to all the Podcast & other projects you bring in the future!

Studio looks great, can’t wait to see the podcast from there! Really enjoyed the first two episodes good stuff!
Awesome, thank you!
An amazing transformation. I can't wait to see the episodes unfold :)
Wow. A beauty of a set. Excellent work. I am so jaleous of your workshop and building. Wow, excellent work again. Keep it going.
Dude the new studio came out so good! I love everything you did it with! Great job!
Thanks so much!!
This just turned out flipping fantastic. Wow! I wish you would help your brother fix his set!
+1 Like Agree. This murry brother has taste!
Me: who likes David’s set.
Couldn’t care less about David’s set… just love his content.
@@Dave_S Lot's of us love David's content. But we can also be honest we he makes very poor choices.
Looks like one brother trying to out do the other brother.
Simple yet very nice looking.
Great setup, and I wonder a single person can do such a lot of work, awesome!
Mike! This is AMAZING!! Naturally, I'd expect nothing less :) First class all the way. Looking forward to seeing videos in the new digs here!
It looks fab. You make it look so easy.
You are amazing man! Can't wait to see the apple one case that your brother announced! Greetings from Italy!
That background music had me dancing in my chair. Great video
BEAUTIFUL!!!!
It is coming along nicely...cannot wait for the full tour of the new facility...keep them coming!!
You just put me down a Rabbit Hole in search of a Laser Level! I saw the Dewalt but I'm on a Budweiser Budget right now. Love the looks and function!
I put off buying one for years. I don't know how I lived without it.
@@TheGeekPub With levels and I'm assuming tape measures lol
Awesome! I really appreciate you sharing your construction techniques
Glad it was helpful!
I love what you've done to the place, Mike! I also love that your Amiga 500 is seemingly mocking me. (I miss my old Amigas!) Great setup and super-inspiring content from you and David, as usual.
a dream office/set to do some geek stuff and show to people.. very nice studio! Keep up the great work! thanks for sharing :)
Good choice on the colors! Looks amazing!
Great setup ... loving the LEDs
Came out great! Good job.
Oh my god. This is awesome. I am speechless.
Cool, looks awesome Mike!
It looks really nice. The lights work great, it's neat and the colours all work well together, great job.
Loved the video, Mike! Super excited to see what you and David do with this new building.
Excellent work, looks great!

Would love to see more detail about how you ran those RGB power connections and tied them in to your outlets
Thanks for the idea!

lights r kewl man awesome work
It looks amazing! Thanks for sharing your process with us!
That looks absolutely amazing.
That turned out awesome. It's given me an idea of what I want to do to display my collection.
Looks so cool! - I'm very impressed with the results here, the shelving looks so amazing free-floating like that. I definitely will be looking into doing the same. Also looking forward to the podcast in this beautiful space :)
Thanks so much! 😊
It looks fantastic, awesome work!
Looks nice! Your brothers set should look something like this!
Stunning. Looking forward to seeing more.
great... loving this... congratz...
This is so well done 👍
Great content and inspiration, thank you!
Well done! It looks perfect! :)
Top work!
beautiful
That looks sick!
Really good job!
Looks awesome. Nice one.
awsome work! great job!
Definitely one of the best looking retro studios on RUclips! Well done 👏🏻💯🔥
Wow, thanks!
Looks cool

I think we're just genetically similar and we like similar things. LOL.
Love it! Great job.
Love it, cheers from Sweden!

Just ceiling lights. Nothing else needed they way I setup the room. I'll have a premium video soon with all the behind the scenes stuff.
I think it would be cool if the tv showed some gameplay of retro games or even some of your older videos.
I would also try to turn up the TVs brightness a bit.
Looks good!
it looks awesome, i really like all the homemade furniture :-) good job!
First time watching one of your videos. Did not expect you sound so alike your brother. My siblings and I sound nothing like each other.
*TheGeekPub*
I think you should add some cool Sci Fi framed movie posters...
give the room some character.
Looks great, good job. :)
This is so cool!
For who ever put that room together previously, nice job. Decorator switches with traditional outlets!
You might be surprised, but here in Texas, Decora up top and old school outlets is the standard even on new construction.
I’m inspired to do this - and I’m not even a content creator. I just need a place to put my small collection of vintage audio equipment that’s just sitting in a spare room.

That's actually what these are.
good luck and it look nice I like it. keep it up and good luck.
RGB FTW 😎

I am not. Just bought a $10 el cheapo to get me by. But I do plan to switch over to WLED when I get some time.
Bangin'.
think i just found my new favorite channel.
Pretty cool ngl, and I like how different is your style from your brother's.
Love these videos !!! They help me so much on my channel!!!
14:51 Starcraft!
There should be an actual Pub in the building.
4:38 - Scanning the background, it appears you're running dangerously low on clamps. ;)
Beautiful! U are awsome🇸🇪💪
I think your brother should take some notes from you, you have a very fun editing style. Also, the entire studio came out great! That shelving technique for solo projects you mentioned is gonna help me out tons in the future, lol.
How many LED controller did you use?
All i can say is DAM, that looks so great. What a great video really love the new setup. !!!
I have never used addressable leds, is this the easiest way to try them out? Would be cool to see a video on them. And the set looks great!
Coming soon!
Woo studio vids
Looks a lot better than your bother's new studio
Looks good. Be careful with the reflection off your RUclips plaque, shown in your closing. The reflection might be distracting, reflect light or reveal any "behind the camera" secrets.
Haha! I noticed that too. I will probably move it anyway. But thanks for the heads up!
There's also a major reflection of the ceiling light off of the Apple ][ motherboard glass. Looks great!
Sweet setup for sure.. like the decorations... looks great... was the RGB strips added to the front edge or back edge of the shelves?
Thanks! Front edge.
10:45 where can I buy it, captain
amzn.to/3yN25Wr
Turned out great. Is that last shot of you talking really just lit with the ceiling lights?
Yep, I bought specific lights (lumens, color, diffuser) and placed them specifically where I wanted them.
You need to help your brother design his set. This looks 1000% better than his results.
Too cool
love the armatron and ultima game!!!!!!!!!
