You can do the replacement of the front seatbelt without taking out the seats, you don't have to take off the bottom trim completely, just bend it back far enough to be able to remove the bolt that holds the seatbelt retracting mechanism. I used a ring spanner to remove and retighten this bolt.
Thank God. That was going to be my question, too. Most of this car is easy to work on. When I watched this I went 🤬 me. 😹. Now, where to get a new belt cheap. 🤷♂️
Thanks a ton for making this, Need to do mine and came looking for instructions, you did a good job. Didn't relasie how big of a job it is, having to take the seats out to get to it, glad i didn't try to do it on a whim without checking first what would i'd need to do.
I've replaced my frayed seatbelt before watching this and now my SRS warning alerts every time I turn the ignition on. I know it is related to the airbags and seatbelt re-tensioner, however I've only replaced one seatbelt on this car. Except for the removal of my seat, the shroud around the petrol cap release and unplugging wires, I did everything I saw you do. 2003 VY Commodore Berlina.
As long as the battery was disconnected before removal, it shouldn't have set off the SRS alarm. However it might just need the code cleared from either a mechanic or even a local auto shop :)
Well you wouldn't have to unless removing seats basically. Unless maybe one of the wires came loose near the seatbelt? Have the code checked to see where the airbag warning is coming from and hopefully it's just a loose/knocked plug for you! Thank you too :)
Can a worn out driver's seat belt cause the airbag light to come on? Or would it be more likely the seat belt tensioner? Ive had my clcok spring, air bag module and air horn replaced with no fix to the airbag light ...very frustrating
brilliant video. my son's first car is a VZ. and it needs a replacement seat belt driver's side. you obviously know what you're doing. how long does it take? and what brand belt is a good replacement other than Holden? thx.
I would guess you would somehow pull it through the gap, have never tried to be honest as mine was a spare from another car so I took the trim and belt together. The bottom bolt spacer may need to be removed in order to remove the bolt itself to pull through maybe? Not 100% sure sorry!
Would this be the way to go with the rear seatbelts as well? I’ve got one on each side that have jammed and refuse to retract and I’m intending on replacing them myself as I don’t have a huge amount of money.
It's not too difficult to remove the rear ones actually, just remove the rear seats, top & bottom, top half of seat is held in with a 13mm or 15mm from memory. Remove the parcel shelf behind the seats, then the C pillar trim that the seatbelt goes through (just clips and one screw from memory). Then you have access to remove the seatbelt from it's mounting points (similar to front ones). Hopefully that gives you an idea of what to do but if you get stuck I can create a video on that one! :)
Finally a video with very easy to follow steps which involves the whole job at task... legend!!
Thank you for making my seat-belt replacement so much easier.
Cheers for the video. I will be changing my drivers seat and the seatbelt tomorrow, this video really helped.
Top job mate. Thanks for the upload🇦🇺🫵🏻
Great video. very thorough and informative. Keep up the good videos.

@@ecotecace7855 Thanks mate, I didn't know that I had to disconnect the battery just to replace a seatbelt. Now I know. lol
BTW, Great video.

Good video mate, nice and clear
Thanks to your vid, I got the job done. thank you very much....
Thanks for your efforts mate, just a few knocks tho on not showing how you feed the trim back into the seatbelt.

great video mate, thanks for sharing
Very informative thanks legend !
Hi mate do u know how to turn off the seatbelt alarm completely i have a 04 vy series 2
You'll need an ALDL cable from Envyous Customs and the program 'Body Diagnostics' to activate/ deactivate :)
And how did you place that plastic trim onto the new belt?
where do you get a workshop manual please?
Hi great video. Would it be pretty much the same to replace my drivers seatbelt on a VZ SS?
Yes it will! :)
How do you remove it from the top trim?
Watching as I need to paint my grey trim black.
I would guess you would somehow pull it through the gap, have never tried to be honest as mine was a spare from another car so I took the trim and belt together.

@@ecotecace7855 awesome much appreciated 👌🏻
I have a 2008 Pontiac G8. Would this be the same process I.e. is this a similar car?
Not the same car, it's an older model compared to yours unfortunately, but I don't think it'd be much different in the end :)
@@ecotecace7855 thanks. Will give it a shot.
Wow didnt have to take hole seat out

A video on the rear seat belt removal would be great
Don’t make another video no back seat instructions but took out the back seat? But thanks for telling us to put floor mats back in
