Still waiting for the "hide the bologna" episode where MCJ cooks 10 courses that may or may not have bologna hidden in them. Rhett & Link have to taste them all and guess which ones had it or didn't have it. Including a dessert course.
The first Thanksgiving with my dad after he and my mom divorced consisted of a couple cornish hens, instant mashed potatoes, and canned green beans. No big to-do with family members we never see all crammed into a small space, no kids running wild, no arguments, no leftovers, minimal cleanup. It was probably my favorite Thanksgiving ever.
I feel the same way! I think my favorite was when it was just me, my mom, my dad, and my maternal grandmother. We just hade home made lasagna. It was just a nice, simple day.
@@bcaye boiling water is even easier. Plus the packet already comes with other dried ingredients like garlic, chives, butter, etc. Can't beat .50 a pouch either.
These are my favourite background episodes. I just watched a 10 minute ad without realizing because yall are just that comfy to listen to in these. Laid back, on point. Can we hide the bologna now?
I think I'm changing my mind here, I starting out thinking they were gradually corrupting Lily in the same way they did with Trevor. But now I think we are just gradually seeing the darkness she keeps hidden away, the smile she has here from the schadenfreude of the situation is telling. I think I like her even more now.
I appreciated the Parsley, Sage, Rosemary,. and Thyme reference. That song is a banger. Also, as a single person working a few states away from their immediate family, I have done Thanksgiving Omelettes a few times. They rock.
I work in healthcare. I've probably had more Thanksgivings at the hospital than at home, definitely fewer with blood family than with work family. For years the Med/Surg crew organized a huge potluck with all the classics and any wild cards people chose to bring in. Every person working the night was welcome to eat. I would always make up plates for my best friend in the sleep lab and whoever was working with her. All the security and housekeepers would come. It was sad when those people retired. But I always have a nice meal, working or not. Family is nice, but one has to be thankful to have something to eat, a job, a place to live and being okay with your own company.
You’re on to something with the corn dogs. The way my family makes stuffing is with apple slices and pieces of breakfast sausage links, so it’s got a similar sweet/savory/sausage combo that you’d get with corn dogs.
Im not totally surprised by the corn dog stuffing being rated so highly by them. At family occassions my family always makes something really similar to stuffing but adding sausage meat and we go through trayfuls. It's incredible. I was skeptical as I don't really know how similar hot dogs and sausage meat we use are but I wasn't entirely surprised at the result.
with these types of videos, I would very much enjoy seeing them explain the differences and their favorite ones, as a Gmmore vid would do with GMM comps
As a guy who hates stuffing I thank you for making this episode. This might finally be what gets me to like stuffing as long as I have the patience to make 17 different alternatives.
I paused @ 4:50 to type a comment, my family has been making stuffing with cornbread since I was very young, we haven't made it different since! It's AMAZING!
I had to go find it after he said it because that was the song I had to audition with to get into concert choral on high-school so I sang it a lot for a bit.
You're pretty young, huh? No offense, lol. It's just one of the most famous tunes in the world, so yeah, I'd sincerely hope you'd recognize it! (And yes, it came out well before I was born, too, just probably not by as many decades.)
Tragedy breeds comedy. People who have experienced grief and deep sadness will often turn to comedy and laughter to combat it. Miles Bonsignore talked a bit about it on his podcast Perfect Person, Daniel Sloss covers it in his comedy special Dark.
I might have to edit Grandma's recipe after watching this for technique. Grandma had us put sage, black pepper, and salt into the torn bread "to taste". I like the idea of putting them in the pan with the veg. We only do onion and celery - not carrot. Hmmm. Hopefully Grandma's ghost doesn't get angry with me for trying it a bit different next time I make it.
In the south cornbread is what we use for dressing (stuffing) some go half cornbread half french bread, but I've always done all cornbread with what you think is too much sage but never is
I'm confused lol. The first one had a screenshot for Hawaiian bread, then had a title above it while they were taste testing it said white bread. Then when Vee guesses French bread but you put Hawaiian bread underneath of her for her guess?
The first 2 stuffings had me confused because it said Hawaiian bread and then it changed to white. Then the second one said cornbread and they switched it to sourdough
They started with a fork then switched to a spoon. However, the correct vehicle for feeding stuffing to blindfolded folk is obviously SPORK. Perfect tie in too. WILL IT STUFFING?
I’m impressed that both of them guessed so many of them correct. I would have never guessed the corn dog one would be the best. Loved the video as always :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone. 🦃 🥧
I grew up with my dads stuffing which was made with a homemade loaf of Challah. How that he's gone & I have celiacs, I use Schar Gluten free baguettes.
This is so fun! But, the only good dressing (for me), is one where you boil the giblets with onions and celery, pull the meat off the giblets and use the shredded meat and the liquid you used to boil to moisten the bread. More onions and celery sweated and added too. Just crouton dry bread works great and using the usual sage based spices. Stuff the turkey!!! Any extras can be cooked in the oven, covered to keep in the moisture. Am I the only person that likes stuffing sandwiches the next day? With a little mayo -- more yumm!!!
New York Times put out a video where they made 20 different stuffings and these videos couldn’t be more different but I love them both equally 😂 While that one is helpful and I might actually use some of those. This one supplies me with the chaos that my ADHD brain thrives on.
Danggg~ Josh changed, . . . . He used to seriously explain, why he did what he did, like he'd explain the purpose for adding herbs to the boiling water, to steep the water, and not the meat, (
As soon as they started making the corndog one, I knew it'd win. Mostly because stuffing *should* have some sort of sausage meat in it (the runners up being cheese based makes sense too) - just bread & veggies is going to be disappointing.
Traditionally the Thanksgiving sides don't have meat in them, the focus of the meal is supposed to be the bird. Adding cheeses and meats you're pretty much just making a casserole at that point.
An editing note: the first two name card for the stuffings aren’t congruent with the name at the top of the eating part. But! No shade! I thought you’d want to know. I love your videos and I love the content you put out
Sometimes my family will make the traditional bread stuffing like Stovetop, Bell's or Pepperidge Farms and will add cooked fresh onion and celery and minced pork. Since you seemed to like the hot dog in that, I wonder how you would rate other different meats added to bread stuffing.
I lived with a divorced and remarried mom during Thanksgiving, and nobody in our house enjoyed cooking. So we'd usually just get turkey and dressing and sides from Luby's and reheat it Thanksgiving Day.
Pretty sure a 2-1-1 version of a box-and-one was the most effective way to try to check Curry and the dynastic Warriors. They called it a box-and-one, because of the concept of we're in zone except for the guy guarding Curry, but they didn't necessarily always do the box part
