    Hi, great vlog thanks. We are from Scotland, UK and will be visiting Boracay. We contacted My Boracay Guide based on your recommendation however the price quoted was 2100 php per person round trip from Caticlan Airport. The 900 php that you paid apparently was the local rate (different rate for foreigners as we don’t have a PH ID card) one way.

      Hey Pauline. That's a strange one as we just booked it on their website and bank transferred them without any questions. Not to worry as there are other companies out there doing the same thing who may be a bit cheaper if you have a look on Viator and GetYourGuide. The 900php was per person but we only went 1 way with them and did a DIY on the way back and saved a lot of money. It's much cheaper but a bit of a faff with the paperwork when you are arriving (especially after a long journey) but it's entirely do-able.

    Great info! In the paperwork at the port do you need to have prebooked a hotel or can you walk around looking for a place on arrival?

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад +1

      Hey there! Yes it's a requirement to have a hotel booked, at least for night 1. They checked our booking at Manila and then the port officials needed proof at Caticlan jetty port too. We just showed them it on our phone.

    • @BiggWorldCinema
      @BiggWorldCinema Год назад

      @@ParksTravelGuide Gosh. Thanks for the info. I wonder if that's a continuation of contact tracing or afraid of an influx of backbackers pitching tents on the beach!

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад +1

      Haha! In fairness we got asked a few times between flying to different islands. There's some online paperwork to fill in anyway so make sure you check out the latest island entry requirements before you go.

    • @BiggWorldCinema
      @BiggWorldCinema Год назад

      @@ParksTravelGuide What do you mean online? I've been in the country throughout the pandemic. I'm not registered on any apps. I've heard that vax requirements aren't required anymore, so hopefully no contact tracing either.

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад

      @@BiggWorldCinema sorry that's our bad. The online form was for when we first arrived in Manila. For Boracay we needed a filled out tourist arrival form, hotel booking confirmation and both passports. I believe that information is still current.

    Hi John and Becky, this, I think is my favourite place you have been so far, the main town looks bustling but at the same time very chilled. The Xmas eve feast was just stunning and the food and explore with Jesse was so good 😊 (except for you John 😂😂😂) Arhhhh the baalambs 🐑🐑 so cute 🥰 An amazing day for you guys ❤

      Ey up! We loved Boracay the first time we went shortly after its reopening from when the government closed it down for 6 months to clean it up and change it from a raucous party place to a more tranquil island. We knew we had to go back. The downside is the hassle and the sheer amount of people going there now. Jessie was really good to us and is a top man, we first met him on our honeymoon trip as he is due to get married to Tania, who is Jeremy's (from the Melbourne vlog) big sister. It was a great day all round x

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад +1

      @@j_Mv7907 it's a big change. We first went a month after it was reopened as part of our honeymoon. It's more beautiful now but incredibly busy and touristy. If people can see past that then they have an idyllic island.

    That derelict hotel must be one of those buildings whose construction was abandoned when Boracay underwent a six-month rehabilitation in 2018. The government cracked down on establishments violating building and environmental regulations to aviod further degradation of the island.

    • @ParksTravelGuide
      @ParksTravelGuide  Год назад

      Yeah that's true, although it was fully built but then ordered to be demolished. Apparently they were operating without a lot of crucial regulations so I read online. Safety first. We heard it's pretty normal out there to build something and then permission not be granted so things can't open, a little like the treehouse bar we went into as he was still waiting for his license to be granted.
