Mike Vrabel ran the Titans into the ground. Last year they Started 93 different players due to injuries. The past 3 years The Titans lead the Nfl in injuries due to Vrabels coachin style. Vrabel is overrated & his offense is from the 1980s.

Just because you were a great player does NOT mean you’re automatically going to be a good coach. In fact it’s usually the opposite. Mike Vrabel (showed to be a great HC who got passed over) Ron Rivera (played in and won a SB and took a team to the SB as HC) and Mike Ditka (obviously HoF’er in both professions) are among the exceptions not the rule. Once you lose control of the team it’s gone for good. You can’t have the inmates run the prison, you can’t have the employees run the executive boardroom and you can’t let the players run the team. That logic is ridiculous to think that would work at all…they can’t police themselves they are essentially kids with millions of dollars. There’s going to be a lot more Ruggs and Rice situations if you let the players govern themselves. It’s not if it’s going to be a disaster…it’s GOING to be a disaster. We just have to sit back and see how bad it will get. DEI or not, if Mayo has a poor first season as HC and starts his second season just as bad he’s gone. He is almost certainly in over his head…more qualified candidates were IMMEDIATELY passed over in favor of Mayo. I have a list of 6 other guys ahead of mayo just off the top of my head. Clear DEI hire
When inmates are running the asylum, it has more often than not has failed. One example was when Dennis Erickson was coaching the Seahawks in the mid 90’s.
Kraft is behind the hire, Mayo has taken an opportunity which few are ever offered. We'd all take the job so leave the guy alone until we see what sort of team he is coaching. Any malcontentment should be sent Kraft's way.

Wait, how is it a DEI hire? Even if Mayo is indeed messing up(these are just reports), he literally went through the coaching process. No matter what, this season wasn't going to go well. A basic reload of coaches, and a rebuild of the Offense with a brand new scheme. This was gonna be a wait while they develop situation and NE fans don't wait very well. Most don't remember pre-Brady, nevermind what it was like before Bledsoe. All NE fans know has been winning until recently and 90% of them actually think turning the Patriots around is a simple process. I hate DEI bullshit as much as every sane person and I knew when Mayo stayed in NE years back that Kraft wanted him as his future "Black" HC (which is the dumbest, most racist title I've ever heard). Yet, as a older fan who's been there through the lean years going back to the 80s, I'm willing to wait and see if Wolf can rebuild the team, and see if Mayo can learn FAST what it means to be a HC in the NFL. Kraft really likes his new Black HC, so I'm assuming Mayo is going to get some leeway. Hopefully he'll figure out that DEI has no place in any business. If not, I'm sure we'll get a more qualified HC in about 4yrs.
Maybe an 0-17 season will inspire a quick ripping off of the band-aid and a better choice for HC. They were so bad in 2023 that a 5-12 or 6-11 season could be seen as an improvement justifying not ditching Mayo.

You think a Joe Milton, who couldn't figure it out after 6 years of college football, is better than the guy who went 3rd overall? Maye had more big-time throws than anyone in college football the last two year and the 2nd most rushing yards behind only Jayden. He's only played 2 of the last 4 years, including his senior year of HS. I don't love Maye but he got criminally underrated this draft process.
As a Vol fan. I watched Joe Milton. He can throw the ball a mile & he missed many open throws by a mile.. He struggles to read basic coverages. His accuracy is terrible. He throws to random Wrs instead of reading through his progressions. He struggles against any pressure. I dont think the Nfl can teach accuracy. The vols run 25/ 30 wideout screens a game. He threw the ball behind the line of scrimmage often & would miss open Wideouts on screen plays all the time.

I thought they had a big hire in the works when they forced out Belichick. I expected them to hire Harbaugh. Hiring Mayo was a big surprise because it’s like hiring Belichick before his gig in Cleveland.
I thought Mayo was recommended by Bellicheck to take over and thats why he was hired but I digress. I think inmates running the asylum is a bad analogy. I think he’s trying to implement a culture in which the players hold themselves more accountable for their failures. I more so view it as a college professor giving out a group assignment. The professor is there to help them and assist them but also has authority still. The professor gives the students the tools they need to succeed, the materials, modules, office hours and etc but it’s ultimately up the students to perform and work together. Because ultimately at the end of the day the professor (Mayo) isn’t out there on the field playing/ contributing to the group project but it’s the students (players) who hold the responsibility to work together and perform. And should these players not perform or contribute in the way they should, they will be given an F or in this instance be cut/traded from the team. And like u said this rarely works but the main word is rarely meaning it “can” work. Time will only tell is Mayo’s version succeeds, so I would hold your displeasure till he actually fails.

I don't agree with this guy really. I know Michigan is college football but the thing that helped build great culture there was the players being leaders and playing for eachother as brothers. I think player lead teams are the teams that hold one another accountable and it's not like it's 100% just players doing it all. It's more of a metaphor for comradery and discipline . I don't think it's a bad thing for NFL coaches to treat the players like professionals and not treat them like their babysitters
I’m not saying u have to like the new coach. But having the players run the team is a common philosophy for many successful nfl coaches. “The best nfl teams have the players run themselves”. That doesnt mean the coach does nothing, but that the best teams ahve each and every player take ownership as much as anyone else.
