    I used to have a Citroen C5, tool it in for a service and asked for the EOLYS refilled. After a 4 way conversation with two receptionists a mechanic and the manager, they charged only £10 on their fixed price tariff.
    When I went to pick up the car that afternoon, they advised me I needed the EOLYS fluid not the Adblue they were expecting. I found someone else and never went back

    Another great vid jimmy, as per usual the dealers see a code and gets excited starts to rub his hands knowing he is going to make a killing replacing parts that dont need to be changed. my mate used to work at a main dealers and some of things he tells me is shocking... keep up the good work not only are you saving your customers a lot of money but you are also sharing you knowledge which is very commendable of you mate.....

    Only reason why the DPF is in an accessible place is because of the EOLYS fluid. It lowers combustion temperature of the soot, so engineers can place the DPF further down the exhaust route.

    And here we have yet another example of main dealers/garages not diagnosing the problem properly, just saying parts need to be replaced. Call me cynical but isn't it in their interests to supply and fit new parts which is usually quicker than properly diagnosing the problem and fixing what the actual issue is? For years, I brought my car to the stealership to have it routinely serviced and paid through the nose for it. One issue I had was a pulsing brake pedal that they said was due to warped brake discs. They replaced the discs at every service interval at great cost to me. I thought this was wrong as all my driving is on motorways and I do very little stop/start city driving. So why were my brake discs wearing out so quickly? So I investigated the issue and found what I thought could be the problem, a sticking or seized caliper pin. Well off I went to Halfords, bought my first (of many) socket set and had a go at taking my front calipers off. Sure enough, both front calipers had seized pins and worn rubber boots. After much swearing, I got the pins out of the calipers, they were well stuck in there. I cleaned them off, cleaned out the holes, put fresh grease on them, fitted new boots and put everything back together. Result? My discs lasted years before they became lipped and had to be replaced. No more pulsing brake pedal. And all because the garage didn't check and service the caliper pins. Oh no, it was much easier for them, and more profitable to routinely fit new discs instead of doing their job properly. I wonder if they do this on purpose or if they employ clueless mechanics who don't have Jimmy's knowledge and experience?

      Either misdiagnosing or they know how to do it but are conning customers into buying unnecessary parts.

      @nickspicer8716 Год назад

      I think it depends which garage you go to, like anything there are good and bad ones which is difficult to trust but not all main dealers are rip offs and some main dealers can actually be cheaper than non franchise garages

    • @davidmehlhorn726
      @davidmehlhorn726 Год назад +1

      @@nickspicer8716 Sorry Nick but here in Ireland, garages don’t do “customer service”. Shoddy work and rip off prices are the norm. I’ve left my car into main dealers, private garages and with backstreet mechanics. I’ve never, ever had a good experience (which to me would be good workmanship and reasonable prices). The last guy I left my car with to replace front lower control arms didn’t torque the bolts which resulted in both control arms coming loose and poor handling. Since then, I do all my own maintenance and my 13 year old car with 330,000kms on it is in perfect condition and passes it’s annual road worthiness test with no defects. That was never the case when “professionals” were maintaining it.

      Моя думка що механікам байдуже за ваше авто,і вони мають погану кваліфікацію.В нас в Україні люди не задоволені офіційними сервісами типу Volkswagen,Renault та інші - беруть за роботу дорого,а роблять не якісно.Добре що в нас є багато приватних майстерень але потрібно записуватись за 5 - 7 днів - бо постійно є черга.

      He probably just refills the fuel tank £20 at a time it injects eoyls every time the fuel door is closed and I don’t think it’s that smart to know you only put a little bit of fresh fuel in

      @@wodgesad It is smart enough. ECU knows how many litres of fuel you put in, it knows roughly how much eolys is pumped per second... it runs the pump for as long as it needs to. Obviously it's not a 100% perfect system but it's close enough. Eolys tank is only supposed to last ~100k miles anyway, which is about right.
