Art hell is a place where you are forced to draw over and over and over and your drawings look like a four year old’s. Your hand in cramping and you are denied food or sleep until you finish all your projects but the projects never stop coming. Art heaven is a place where everybody loves your work. You are never rushed and you only have one project at a time to worry about. You are given breaks for food and rest, and all your art looks amazing. If you ever get a cramp in your wrist there, you get an extended break and you are never short of ideas because art heaven is full of inspiration. I have been to both because I have a really bouncy trampoline and a highly heat resistant drill with a camera on it. I have been to many different hells but it seems that art hell is the closest one to our real life that we live right now.
I had to throw away some of it some days ago because I didn't have any space left in my room and it was all messy and stuff. However, I decided to keep some of the ones I thought were the nicest and some of the ugliest so I can compare them later to my future work :)
I'm just going to summarize what Lavender's sins are to the best of my ability. LUST: Adding sex appeal that makes your drawings less appealing to the viewer's eye ENVY: Lack of creativity, and not finding your own art style SLOTH: Avoiding anything creative to the point you're no longer motivated GLUTTONY: Working on so many projects at a time that it hinders your work PRIDE: Claiming to be at the top of the artistic food chain (even though just like most of us, your still, most likely, just a guppy), and not taking criticism well GREED: If I remember correctly, asking for RIDICULOUS amounts of money for commissions WRATH: The most common form is intensive art block Also, Lavender, I happen to have my own saying about pride. "There's a great difference between being proud and being prideful." Which means exactly what it sounds like it means. It's fine to be proud of something, but remember not to let it get to your head.
I think greed is only wanting relationships with people who can further your career in art, and only using those people as tools and ignoring people who can't offer what you want
Ok, so I have a story about my own art wrath. I would get so mad that I once ripped up my ENTIRE sketchbook. Later, once I calmed down I became super sad at what I did because there where so many good drawing in that sketchbook. I ended up piecing together all of my drawings with tape, and I vowed to never do it again. I do get mad sometimes but I just look at the drawing and says “nope, not today.”
Like when in 2011 I had this entire, ten notebook comic ongoing and I put so much work into it Then the next year I got so mad at my mary-sue filled, MLP ripoff, unplotted, badly drawn comic that I threw all of them away. Now I'm regretting all of this because it was my first ever comic that I put effort and tried to finish....Ah, the times when I had motivation....

poppixie101 That is me and my book ideas. I suggest using those to develop ideas into the projects you have already or even combine them. For example, say you want to draw a forest but you also want to draw the ocean. You can draw both on one canvas and make it a deserted island!
I know this comment is bound to be lost in the abyss of comments, but I'm still gonna post it. I found lavender townie half a year ago, when I was experiencing major art block. I couldn't bare to look at my art anymore , it just looked awkward, and unfinished. One day while I was trying to draw I found this channel, and I became addicted. I started to watch her as much as I could in the day, and soon I found myself taking lots of art advice from her. Months pass, I'm still watching her, and thanks to her I'm now extremely confident about what I draw. Soon, I wish it open up a webcomic, and I wouldn't be here if it weren't for these videos. Thank you Lavender Townee, everyone please have a great day! 🎀 Edit: Hope you get better! ^~^
Today, a girl that can really draw, like really, really draw, gave me a drawing of an oc I created. She's actually the one who told me to watch your channel.

As an story writer I feel like I found myself on this list more. And I totally can agree with old stuff. It's cringe as fuck and very simple characters and stories but really helps to see how much is improved trough years.
and lust. i do give my characters a lot of crap in general but i don't fetish them. i put them in a lot of pain normally. it's fucked up but it's how i write.
Oh yeah, im not a writer, but i still make stories, so, oh well, i do *Roleplaying with characters i drew* , and like, you are right, those happen, and why are there so many people that cant even spell criticizing the work without even knowing the entire history ;-;
I know a particular "artist", if I can even call them that, that has a huge problem with pride. They can't take any amount of criticism and they are a grown adult. They block anyone who has the slightest bit of critique or "disagreement", they know nothing of other cultures art and yet try to capitalize on foreign art styles because it's popular. I swear they are the worst.
I dont think is dobson, i mean yeah sure he is pretty bad at taking criticism but i dont think he has tried to used any foreign artsyle since that pirate comic
Colorfull Kitten same here. I️ may even have a bit of wrath. I️ can easily go from having a sketch book with every single page to having a bunch of pages scattered everywhere of failed projects and work I️ thought wasn’t good enough :/
wrath is definitely my biggest problem I only started really trying to draw 2 years ago (I was 12) and my first stuff is comparable to literal 6 year olds so yeah those are all gone and even now I get so easily frustrated my first official sketchbook has 20/60 pages left in in it and even though that one was finished sometime earlier this year i hate just about everything in it
That's a problem i have, i usually have time to draw at work while taking calls, but I can't Really practice unclothed anatomy because co-workers might get the wrong idea of why that girl doesn't have clothes on xD
For gluttony, only 5-7 projects? I have at least 30 right now and growing and not just art but skills as well XD. Gluttony is my biggest sin by far. And thanks for this mini series, you did awesome. Hope you feel better soon.
I have the gluttony thing, but my trick is to focus on one at a time, and I try to make sure that I only have one that I need to work on, plus I can switch from one thought to another fairly easily. I know my limits, and I try to be kind as possible to others (Maybe to the point where people think I'm not human....?) with their art. Plus, I've never been the greatest at art. I don't think Pride is a problem with me. I hope. I'm only in first year of high school and the school year hasn't even started. Plus, I want to be an author and drawing can be a hobby of mine. I avoid drawing when I'm not in the mood, as I think I may do something that I will regret later on and I won't be able to fix it. (I do it on Paint and..... yeah.... I really don't like having to do a picture all over again for one little mistake. Seriously, I've seen small mistakes in my art and I'm just like 'Oh come on! Oh well, it's small, doubt anyone will see it'.) Plus, things I draw never turn out the way I want them too and I understand that and usually don't set high goals for myself. I just go with the flow on how my pictures turn out and if they don't turn out how I imagined them '........ whatever! At least I tried :P'.
@@lunaliss2626 Oh, I'm not American, I'm Australian. In Australia, we have six years of high school, Year 7 - Year 12. So, I'm in Year 11 this year, NEXT YEAR I'll graduate. I don't even remember typing this, lmao.
I do wrath alot and i regret it sometimes but im just easily frustrated and have this self anger issue ...there was one time i was painting on a canvas and i just was so upset the whole time i eventually broke it towards the end like i smashed it but later on after a nice long anger nap i looked at it before tossing it out and was just like damn that was one of my best paintings yet i totally screwed up and then i was just sad after that....but thats an extreme usualy it just involves angrily ripping something out a sketchbook or scribbling all over it
I remember deleting/destroying pretty much all the work i did from 2007-2013 and i completely regret it. Never destroy your work no matter how angry you are.
For the Gluttony one, just to rephrase but echo your advice: to do lists are your friends. (In whatever format that works for you.) Even if there are loads of ideas in it - it can also help you through the slothful periods where you want to draw but you have no immediate inspiration/direction and tempted to distract yourself from that. You can go, "Oh yeah! i wanted to draw that! Maybe I should try to do that one now!" (Honestly, I absolutely hate having too many projects flying off at once. I like to finish a few things over starting many, especially when we're talking about projects I want to put effort in. Not knocking on the doodling/etc. strategy, plus I get that it's also important to iterate on ideas to improve them. "Fail Faster" as they say.)
TheFnaf Theorygaming First off, Why do you care about my user name? It's my business what I name my account, not yours. Secondly, I'm fine with people who read predictions and stuff for fun, but I'm just about fed up with people who actually believe in them.
i haven't really experienced any of the 7 deadly art sins. but i have experienced a different art sin that isn't on the list sometimes for a whole month, i would just... i wouldn't draw properly. i'd do these 5 minute sketches with rough de-saturated colours. This wasn't because i thought my art was t e r r i b l e , i just couldn't focus on anything really, and i'd give up quickly if i tried to make a proper drawing. because i'd think, h this is bad, my older art is way better. (tbh i just really really didn't want to draw) so i didn't like the drawings i was trying to make, but i was proud of my previous drawings??? is that weird lol ?>?
omg the greed one reminded me, in elementary school a bunch of kids where selling traced art (i could tell it was traced because 1. they never drew, they were in my class and I never saw them doing anything even slightly related to art and 2. it was perfect, the lines were perfect and everything about it was perfect and 3. i have seen those drawings before). and it was for money too. and since we were in elementary school, idk why they were even doing it. probably just to be rich. oops, this comment is long, sorry.
I have gluttony really horribly. I have more than 100 “projects” that I put on hold (aka they’re never getting finished) Scattered throughout my sketchbook history. Only about 23% of my projects actually getting done. ;-;
Another thing I thought should be said for the Gluttony one! I have been working on some craft projects that require me to wait for more supplies (like paints and stuff), so I’ve been starting other projects while I wait for the supplies to come. To make sure you don’t have too many projects on your plate, as soon as you get the supplies, finish the og project up, or the project that’ll take quicker to finish! It’ll be a lot more satisfying and you can focus on the other project more afterwards.
Hope you get better! 😃 Losing your voice isnt nice but you always get it back quite soon (At least from my experience) I only lost my voice a couple of times, but once I had no idea why I lost it. I was at school and my throat was hurting but only a bit so U stayed there and I had no problems speaking for the first four hours. On the fifth lesson I just avoided speaking and drank water a lot. And then on the sixth lesson I just couldnt speak at all. And my teacher wanted me to read something ... Yeah, I sounded basically like a zombie, she looked a bit surprised and she went like: 'Ok you lost your voice, Ill ask someone else.' And didnt ask me anything for the rest of the lesson. Once I returned home, my voice was back to normal. It just was super weird though because it was such a short time but I couldnt speak a single word.
I swear every time i arch I neblina of your videos I get so innspired!!!! I love your channel so much and all of your content is so lovely. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your video:, it’s greatly appreciated 💜💜💜
I was really expecting to see sloth on here, like if you want to do art or work on projects, but never get around to it by procrastinating or making excuses. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work!
It's amazing how these videos came out back in 2017. I got into drawing back in the summer of 2016, and 2017 is when I started creating my own works. Who knows how much this video could have helped me back then
When lavender said “drawing while mad” I thought she meant “mad” as like... “insane/extremely stressed” wich I do a lot because it’s one of the few things I can do to keep my sanity and keep myself safe from myself when I start breaking down, so I was about to say “OHNO” but then I realized she meant angry and I relaxed. So that’s a thing I guess
Definitely not!!! Vent art is a good way of relieving stress and getting your feelings out in a productive way. I'd say vent art is usually a good thing and not a sin.
Your art is so cute I wish I can draw as good at you but I practice every day and I'm just learning how to do digital art and I'm so excited, you also make me want to keep trying every day and some day I want to be as good as you thank you so much for the support lavender and you'll be the first one I'll show my art to when I get better
MinaThePinkPigglet The comic is going to be a very long one XD The animation would only be like 30 seconds long. I’ll probs do the animation first and do it while I develop the story of my comic slightly more
Gluttony is having 300 ocs and wanting to make more
Check out Salty Milk, she's got more than 1000 and not stopping.
Lol my friend even hates it when I make a new oc and that's like every day

I'm just going to summarize what Lavender's sins are to the best of my ability.
LUST: Adding sex appeal that makes your drawings less appealing to the viewer's eye
ENVY: Lack of creativity, and not finding your own art style
SLOTH: Avoiding anything creative to the point you're no longer motivated
GLUTTONY: Working on so many projects at a time that it hinders your work

GREED: If I remember correctly, asking for RIDICULOUS amounts of money for commissions

Also, Lavender, I happen to have my own saying about pride. "There's a great difference between being proud and being prideful." Which means exactly what it sounds like it means. It's fine to be proud of something, but remember not to let it get to your head.

For gluttony, only 5-7 projects? I have at least 30 right now and growing and not just art but skills as well XD. Gluttony is my biggest sin by far. And thanks for this mini series, you did awesome. Hope you feel better soon.
I hope you feel better soon!
i misread that as "i hope your art feels better soon" and i just starred at the screen confused until i realized im stupid lmfao
Malika Gaming haha omg! 😂
Sorry mom, I have sinned..
Whenever someone says im good at drawing i say " no you" and whenever someone says i suck im just like " You never knew?"
This was four years ago… so you graduated?
@@lunaliss2626 Oh, I'm not American, I'm Australian. In Australia, we have six years of high school, Year 7 - Year 12. So, I'm in Year 11 this year, NEXT YEAR I'll graduate.
I don't even remember typing this, lmao.
My voice is gone right now, so I know what you mean, haha. Sorry to hear you're sick :c
Also lmao the gluttony demon is so true
Cinders AJ i hope you too are getting better soon
This may sound really weird but your voice is somehow really cool sounding when sick???
It's not healthy tho- I know what you mean tho XD
Can I just say that LavenderTownes sick voice is super cute?
*sees her draw swirls as knees*. Hello neighbor flashbacks
oh god no-
SAME
Lol
My brother put everything from the neighbours house into the closet whenever he played, but I put them neatly in the house and explored:)
I put lines:D
I do wrath alot and i regret it sometimes but im just easily frustrated and have this self anger issue ...there was one time i was painting on a canvas and i just was so upset the whole time i eventually broke it towards the end like i smashed it but later on after a nice long anger nap i looked at it before tossing it out and was just like damn that was one of my best paintings yet i totally screwed up and then i was just sad after that....but thats an extreme usualy it just involves angrily ripping something out a sketchbook or scribbling all over it
Gluttony: definition of my art
viktor horvat same
Same though
Envy...Hahaha...Haha....ha.....*internal crying*
I feel you
Agreed agreed
*cries in green*
I look at artists and analyze how they made their art, then i practice parts i like+ what i learned. It really helps my art evolve and grow.
Pffffff, gluttony? Psht, totally not me right now 😭
Itotallydonthavelike6thingsreadytodrawwithnotime
Yep me
I always keep my bad work with my positive quote.
“I’ll laugh and make fun of it in the future if I ever get better,”
*If* = when
wow, you know she really is a digital artist when she forgets the word paper. XD
A BEANIE BOO TUBER I'M FAMILIAR WITH COMMENTED ON A VIDEO ABOUT ART ELEVEN MONTHS AGO????? WHAT KIND OF SORCERY IS THIS????
Ahem. Hi. (That's...what I meant.)
This reminded me about The Seven Deadly Sins Anime... I’m gonna rewatch it now
Omg me too!
YES
I mean i think some of it is based on it, the greed one looks sorta like ban and the wrath one does have dragon based stuff
I was getting more Full metal alchemist vibes tbh lol
Reminds me of FMAB
Awh! Poor Lavendertowne... Great video though.
I usually have three projects open at a time, being a large one, something smaller, and a sketch dump/doodle thing.
Thanks!
I remember deleting/destroying pretty much all the work i did from 2007-2013 and i completely regret it. Never destroy your work no matter how angry you are.
For the Gluttony one, just to rephrase but echo your advice: to do lists are your friends. (In whatever format that works for you.)
Even if there are loads of ideas in it - it can also help you through the slothful periods where you want to draw but you have no immediate inspiration/direction and tempted to distract yourself from that.
You can go, "Oh yeah! i wanted to draw that! Maybe I should try to do that one now!"
(Honestly, I absolutely hate having too many projects flying off at once. I like to finish a few things over starting many, especially when we're talking about projects I want to put effort in. Not knocking on the doodling/etc. strategy, plus I get that it's also important to iterate on ideas to improve them. "Fail Faster" as they say.)
Can you make a video about what drawings would each zodiac make
E.g
Virgo - Mystery
Leo - Death
Gemini - mythical
Etc.
TheFnaf Theorygaming I'm a Leo lol
I AM DEATH
TheFnaf Theorygaming t h e z o d i a c s a r e s t u p i d
Into the butt, Shrek Senpai
And why is that?
And I don't know why you would name yourself 'into the butt, Shrek Senpai'
It's ridiculous
TheFnaf Theorygaming First off, Why do you care about my user name? It's my business what I name my account, not yours. Secondly, I'm fine with people who read predictions and stuff for fun, but I'm just about fed up with people who actually believe in them.
Into the butt, Shrek Senpai
They never said they actually believed in it though... (•-•`)
i haven't really experienced any of the 7 deadly art sins.
but i have experienced a different art sin that isn't on the list
sometimes for a whole month, i would just... i wouldn't draw properly. i'd do these 5 minute sketches with rough de-saturated colours. This wasn't because i thought my art was t e r r i b l e , i just couldn't focus on anything really, and i'd give up quickly if i tried to make a proper drawing. because i'd think, h this is bad, my older art is way better. (tbh i just really really didn't want to draw)
so i didn't like the drawings i was trying to make, but i was proud of my previous drawings???
is that weird lol ?>?
-/ferretser/- Nah, it's normal. It's just an art block
omg the greed one reminded me, in elementary school a bunch of kids where selling traced art (i could tell it was traced because 1. they never drew, they were in my class and I never saw them doing anything even slightly related to art and 2. it was perfect, the lines were perfect and everything about it was perfect and 3. i have seen those drawings before). and it was for money too. and since we were in elementary school, idk why they were even doing it. probably just to be rich. oops, this comment is long, sorry.
8:07 im off to art hell then
I have gluttony really horribly. I have more than 100 “projects” that I put on hold (aka they’re never getting finished)
Scattered throughout my sketchbook history. Only about 23% of my projects actually getting done. ;-;
I am DEFINITELY gluttony rn
I want to do all my projects at once and its stressful
If you made a children's book I would totally buy it for my brother
Btw get better soon
Drink tea with honey or milk with honey
Tea with lemon is better i think
Tea with honey is better for troath problems, tea with lemon is for colds and stuff like that
Peppermint or ecanacia tea (idk how to spell it oops) is best (I think Milk can stuff your nose up? I might be wrong)
Sleepy C. Oh ok thanks
Cinders AJ pepermint tea is good the other one neverheard of it
Another thing I thought should be said for the Gluttony one!
I love your style of art!
You inspired me to start drawing!!!
All I can think about is anime because of Full metal and 7 deadly Sins ....
Yes I am weeb of course.
me too
Ye, me too ;^;
Fink hello fellow weeb
I thought of ban and meliodis
welcome to the club
The greed demon looks like gundham tanaka and junkrats kid. Just saying
OMG I SEE IT NOW
asjskfb lmao just bc of the scarf, it reminded me of eraser head,,
don't ever say this again, it's too true
I always put on your videos to fall asleep because your voice is so calming and I love it 🥰
I swear every time i arch I neblina of your videos I get so innspired!!!! I love your channel so much and all of your content is so lovely. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your video:, it’s greatly appreciated 💜💜💜
Your art inspires me to make my own art. Thank you LavenderTowne
0:10 GOOOOOOoooooooD Myhtical Morning!
There should’ve been lust where the artist sexualizes their art a lot
I know I’m probably that..
She did that one in a previous video. :)
She did that one in part 1
It's in part 1
Hears first one... me.. " OMG YOU READ MY MIND
I was really expecting to see sloth on here, like if you want to do art or work on projects, but never get around to it by procrastinating or making excuses. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work!
Not early enough
Also it's 2:01 (AM) in my country
2:05am for me ;)
7:14 pm for me
Holly Wispy 19:48
Holly Wispy am or, pm and it's 11:05 am for me
Hunter The haunter
Fair enough
You should do a video on burning out. : )
Hearing 7 deadly sins reminds me of the fullmetal alchemist series
That name tough... that sums up mah life
Those two anime’s are related?
"Art Wrath"
*looks at destroyed sketchbook*
Oh. ....
OH SHI-
It's amazing how much work and effort you put into your videos and it really shows! You've given me so much helpful advice. Thank you so much :)
Also get well soon! My sister is sick as well, and I think there might just be a germ going around.
I feel your pain girl im sick and I completely lost my voice last week
Naima Bukhari i hope you will get better soon
Flem li thx im getting better little by little
I absolutely love the drawings of the 7 deadly sins!
It's amazing how these videos came out back in 2017. I got into drawing back in the summer of 2016, and 2017 is when I started creating my own works. Who knows how much this video could have helped me back then
Sorry to hear you’re sick! I hope you get well soon!
Amazing drawings and an awesome Inspration as usual! Also hop you get better! ily!!! (platonically!)
I love you so much and you are really relatable!!!You are so good!
From an amateur artist,
Love ya!!!❤❤❤
1:08 lol try thinking of 48 things- i need therapy...
I have committed 2 of these.... i need to work on this. Also, GET BETTER SOON QUEEN !!!!
It doesn’t matter if you’re late as long as you’re alright!!! Get better soon, Lav!!!!
3:44 OMG SHE LOOKS LIKE SAYORI
thATS WHAT I THOUGHT
THE FIRST ONE REMINDED ME OF NATSUKI
starry night YAS
0:05 BUT I SWEAR WHEN I’M READY I WILL FLY US OUT OF THERE-
When lavender said “drawing while mad” I thought she meant “mad” as like... “insane/extremely stressed” wich I do a lot because it’s one of the few things I can do to keep my sanity and keep myself safe from myself when I start breaking down, so I was about to say “OHNO” but then I realized she meant angry and I relaxed. So that’s a thing I guess
It’s okay to draw while mad but dont do the sin :D
Hope u get well soon! Also,
You drew my hair on the Pride demon.
I feel so SPECIAL.
I just love the little skull hat on the last one (even if I'm not into skulls) it just fits in so well!😝
It was weird not having her soft and light voice in the voice over. I'm so used to ir, feel better soon though!
Would “vent art” fall under wrath? Some times I scribble art in this way to vent stress but I’m worried that it would fall into this category
Definitely not!!! Vent art is a good way of relieving stress and getting your feelings out in a productive way. I'd say vent art is usually a good thing and not a sin.
@@MilkyWayKitty1 Vent-art could be hate-art which could also fall under envy if it's done of another artist.
anyone else reminded of fullmetal alchemist/ fullmetal alchemist brotherhood?
no, oh ok then..
yES I thought I was alone!
omg ur name cracks me up, i love dan and phil :D
Me too, i really love them, as you can see from my name :DD
and ur profile picture ;)
Yes... *slowly raises hand*
gluttony is so hecken cute I just can't ……. AH THE LITTLE WAGGING TAIL! TwT
I love how all most all of them have sweaters on/ long sleeves. All my art friends (and me) fricking love sweaters.
Well, we’re both sick so I feel your pain 😭
First...and I think everyone is sick
Kyra Black and iam sick too
Kyra Black you're not first, you're second
It's winter, after all.
I was sick for almost three weeks, and I never get sick. It's summer here.
I never really scribble on pages cause I use water color paper
Out of all of these,my sin’s definitely gluttony. I have soooo many things planned that I’m trying to work on at once
Your art is so cute I wish I can draw as good at you but I practice every day and I'm just learning how to do digital art and I'm so excited, you also make me want to keep trying every day and some day I want to be as good as you thank you so much for the support lavender and you'll be the first one I'll show my art to when I get better
Pllllleeease make a resident stinky t-shirt when you get a chance, I would buy 50 of them
I don’t know whether to do a short animation or start my comic ahhhh
Nerdy Owly why not both? Maybe start off the comic first because that might be quicker to get done then the animation
MinaThePinkPigglet The comic is going to be a very long one XD The animation would only be like 30 seconds long. I’ll probs do the animation first and do it while I develop the story of my comic slightly more
In the thumbnail i thought the person wanted to draw porn
We all know that that's the end goal.
Same lol
Same-
My elementary art teacher would say that destroying tips of the paint brushes is a sin. Even though I’ve never seen anyone do that.
I have all my sketch books since I started drawing and its really refreshing to look back at them and see how far I've come
