Just found this video, while planning my trip to Sturgis 2018. I’ve made the trip from Gulfshores Alabama to Sturgis South Dakota and beyond three times. Never had a chase vehicle, never trailered, I’ve ridden my bike. 2010, 2012, and 2015, the longest was 2012 I burned up 6700 miles in 24 days. The best trip,,, the next trip. There is something spiritual about a long open road, after all the excitement, and worries of planning, packing, picking a route, and rolling out the first 300 plus miles, the road becomes a friend. The people who are with you become a family, the scenery becomes your living room, and the destination matters not. Thank you for making the video. I’m inspired.
Ian Stradian Mobile, AL here. I want to go too. Thanks for the inspiration. Just got a new Road King. Rode up to eastern TN, Dragons Tail, Skyway. Fun, albeit short run.
@@n2dabloo just came off a 14 day out west 5,280 mile tour run have been all over as well always riding in my 30 years of riding at 44 its the most addictive drug going FYI from Haleyville Alabama 😎👊

Your vid captures what it's like to grab life by the horns and roll. My crew rolled out to Sturgis in 2017. Started in Saratoga, NY. 1,900 miles and change and 4 days on my '16 Breakout. No windshield. No fairing. No excuses. I was 59 and doing it again for the 80th. Four wheels move the body, but two move the soul. Roll on brothers and sisters keep it shiny side up. 💀👊🇺🇸
I've always lived on the east coast United States, and the western parts of the country have always intrigued me. I'm physically challenged, and I've ridden on the back of a Harley but never driven one. The nice folks at Departure Bike Works in Chesterfield Virginia took me for a spin on one of their Harleys. It was wonderful.
I live in the western us and I'm so thankful. I've only been east of the Rockies a couple of times and never east of the Mississippi. You should consider relocating, life is short.
The Bandit is right. Relocate, you won't regret it. I grew up on the East coast DelCo Pa. Up and down the coast til I was 20. Then.....Cali....Colorado......Montana. it's where I'll live out my daze. Too many humans and humidity back East. It's where I'm from but I love the West and I'm stayin.
I keep coming back to this video. Love the story line, and the adventure. This is my go to when I need a little bike adventure and nobody wants to ride. I do most of my riding solo, and record some of my rides.
Probably my best ride trip to date..shipped our bikes from Honolulu Hawaii to San Diego, & Rode thru 6 states before entering South Dakota. Cant wait to do it again 2020
Thanks for sharing a really great experience. What a cool diverse group of people. Rode to Sturgis from Chicago in 2012 and loved the journey so much more than the destination.
Been to Sturgis many times, I was there for the 75th. I may go this year, not sure yet. I've ridden a Harley since 1978. Prior to that I rode a Triumph Bonneville. My wife also rides a Harley, she has a 2012 Dyna and I have a 2014 Road King. if it's bigger than a Road King it's an RV and I don't want it. My rules for riding: 1. Ride by yourself, or with a significant other that has her own motorcycle. Packing someone on the rear ruins a good ride. 2. Never ride with a group, the more people the more bullshit arguing about where to stop, how long to stop, what route, etc. 3. It's the journey not the destination, anyone can jump on a scooter and ride 700 mile days, on an interstate slab, but my days are never planned, I never know where I'll end up. Avoid interstates, use secondary roads, eat at Mom and Pop places. There's times I've stopped to eat and ended up staying there for several hours bullshitting with the owner or someone else at the place I was eating. Got to know them, etc. 4. Never get up early like at 4 or 5 or 6 or even 7 to leave. That's like having to work. I get up when I wake up and sometimes don't leave till 10 or 11. I'm not a guy who has to go from point A to B and never stop and see or talk to anyone between those two points. And this goes back to never ride in a group, just with one other person who sees the world exactly as you do. 5. Avoid states with helmet laws--I avoid Nebraska like the plague because it has a helmet law. Riding a motorcycle is inherently dangerous, if you want to make it more safe stay home on the couch. 6. Make sure your concealed carry permit is valid in all the states you go through. Avoid those states where it's not, if you can. If not carry anyway, fuck em. 7. Take your camping gear so if you want to camp out you can. 8. Take the time to make it a fun trip. We take a month to go to Sturgis from where we live. It's about 1,100 miles to Sturgis from where I'm at --if you take the shortest route recommended by google maps. It usually ends up being about 1,600 or more miles the way we go, because we always pick secondary roads, and stop when and where it feels right. And we go a different way each time. A typical ride to Sturgis for us is about a month. We get there a week prior to when it starts, get to our campground. Set up our camp and then head out to explore the area in SD, and nearby WY for a week. Then back to Sturgis for a week for a little more fun. We stay in the same campground every year and have gotten to know a lot of the regulars who ride in from various states and Canada who stay there. So lots of people and stories to catch up on. Then hit the road for home, again taking a week and a half or so to get home. I've turned down lots of people who want to go with us because I know how they ride and it wouldn't last for more than a day before I was telling them "bye". I've never ridden with a "chase" vehicle but I have a feeling the guys who are riding the choppers, with a gallon and a half gas tanks have someone carrying a lot of extra gas for them. Choppers look cool, some of them, but only having a cruising range of about 50 miles sucks. So there you have it, my rules of the road for travelling, not just to Sturgis but for any long trip like to Daytona, etc.
Congratulations guys!! Wt an awesome experience!! I just purchased a 2003 Harley 100th anniversary And its Onnn bbyyy!! I’m 54 and life is to short ! I’m ready for this trip!! Enjoy the ride my brothers 😎🙏🙏

I have watched many biker videos on RUclips and yours is the first to impress me enough to subscribe, great job guys keep ' em coming. I have an old shovelhead wide glide I love it and it fits me so I really enjoyed seeing all you people on those vintage sleds.
Very well put together video, don’t have the expanse of scenery in the uk as you guys have in the USA … looks fantastic good people, good times, great memories…!
Cool video .I love Harley's and owned one myself for 20 years .Must great riding there in the US.Nice landscapes ,sunny days cool bikes and lots of fun . I live in Belgium and to much traffic and small country.I'm a bit jealous if I see this.Thumbs up.It really must be fun living up there.
Yeah, great Sturgis video (great editing and I appreciated the music). - The 2015 rally was the last one I went to...you were there...it was ‘packed’. The road trip To / From there was the best part.
I rode Japanese bikes for a long time but I have spent the last eleven years riding an old Dyna Wide Glide with a raked front end and 18-inch ape hangers; and there is nothing more fun than cruising on a bike like that.
Great Video, looked like an awesome time, I ride an Ultra Classic, hats off to you hardcore riders on those choppers and Panheads and all, my ass couldn't handle it
Me either. Not anymore. It’s good to see young people doing this on old bikes with rigid frames. I can’t make long runs on a geezer glide anymore. I’ve gotten old, and my health has gone to shit. Keep it going! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Best riding video I've ever seen, was too short could have made it a 2 hour movie and sold dvd's of it and easily make enough to fund the next 10 rides!
just cool !! Real spirit of riding , t's refreshing to see people hiting the road with just a few Electras , not a lot of cumfy bikes , I love that ! And camping make u saving big money , shame people forget that...Very good vibes in that stuff !!

Truly awesome video for so many reasons including the riding, the bikes, the riders and the camaraderie. Great editing too. We went for the first time to Sturgis this year, 8 bikes deep but unfortunately one of our riders had a head on collision and died on impact, needless to say the trip was ruined but 2024 will be a great trip to Sturgis 🙏❤️

So, who's taking the ride to Sturgis in 2019? I've got concert tickets in Denver for Aug 3 so I'll be running I-70 from Indiana to Denver and then on to Sturgis. Can't freakin' wait.

Check out the “Edr”. El diablo run. Way better. More genuine than sturgis. Edr is just pure riding. No worries about anything else but where the road is taking ya.
Reminds me of my boys back in the 70’s, riding choppers and looking for chicks...but with very little cash. The good old days, you’d better have a tool bag. 😎
Not much to plan. Get tickets for week at Chip tent camp. Can pre mail tent and bag there if no room to carry them. Show up with 400 dollars. And eat bad food and public showers and have fun with rest of us. We pitch near flush toilets by bikini beach. If you got an ol lady if she flashes her tits she gets free pizza slice at beach pizza shack.
Im planing a ride to Sturgis this year in 2019. The longest ride I did before this was Ohio to Fl keys. Man it was rough solo, but it was worth it. Just to know ive done it. And the guy at 25:36 i felt the same way, I felt like a biker after.
Heck, I swear the ones who are posers are the ones that slam $50k in a wide glide instead of riding a custom or older bike which can do the exact same thing. Like IMO a true biker is someone who enjoys the journey as much as they actually put love in their motorcycle.
@@kurtfoulke5130 wrong. he didn't get to a million miles on a trailer!!. he had mechanical failure in Texas in recent times that's why bought a truck and a trailer. Can trust just anyone to work on your panhead. You probably wouldn't under this life......
@@NicholasRoselliTravels That must be one mysterious mechanical issue, I saw him towing with a Benz 4 years ago in NY State. After a million miles you would think he would be capable of doing his own maintenance ?

This is my year this year. 2022 Sturgis here I come. I'm taking 2 weeks off , to ride my scoot all the way.
panhead billy burrows ride his pan all over the country since the 90s, old bikes still can and are out there on the road traveling
Heck, I swear the ones who are posers are the ones that slam $50k in a wide glide instead of riding a custom or older bike which can do the exact same thing. Like IMO a true biker is someone who enjoys the journey as much as they actually put love in their motorcycle.
Pinhead Billy tows his bike around the country on a trailer
@@kurtfoulke5130 wrong. he didn't get to a million miles on a trailer!!. he had mechanical failure in Texas in recent times that's why bought a truck and a trailer. Can trust just anyone to work on your panhead. You probably wouldn't under this life......
@@NicholasRoselliTravels That must be one mysterious mechanical issue, I saw him towing with a Benz 4 years ago in NY State. After a million miles you would think he would be capable of doing his own maintenance ?
Love it. Mines a 1999 Super Dyna. Glide. Its the ride. Not the destination.
Right, if it's the destination you want to ride something that's not going to breakdown.
