I'll never forget the day I saw this music video and introduced myself to this band. I was living in Germany at the time and it was just before summer break; I was getting ready for school and turned the TV on just to see what was on and this music video happened to be on. I was cutting it close for time letting the music video finish but I just had to watch it in its entirety because it was such a wild music video with an even wilder sound I hadn't heard before as a young man. I rushed off to the bus stop afterwards, summer vacation began and this song haunted me for a long time before I finally got a hold of it myself and have been a fan ever since. I had to be about 16-17 years old, and I'm 32 today. This band, among many others, but this song especially, helped shape and sort out the strange melancholy feelings I'd had as a teenager. Yet every time I listen to this song I'm reminded of those strange, familiar feelings and sometimes miss it. I know the lyrics themselves have a meaning all its own, but listening to it is a time machine in itself for me, reminding me of the young man I used to be, and strangely remember.
I remember having this on a tape in my mark 5 cortina just after passing my driving test and thinking i was the coolest guy on the planet. Memories are fantastic and the music takes you back there. I CAN SMELL THE AIR.
