That was a great day! I cannot believe you found a beached batfish. Those weird creatures are on my list of favorite animals with crabby faces. His pleading sigh was almost too much for my heart. Thanks for the fast thinking and getting him upright and swim-walking again! Those lightning whelks and banded tulips...nope, never getting tired of them. 🎉
It took me a hot second to ID that strange critter. It blows my mind the fascinating things that can be found at the beach! My day started pretty slow but holy cow did I end up having a blast!
It warms my heart to see you help the little creatures that you find. As well as all the garbage you pick up. Thank you for all that. Very much enjoy your videos, thank you for them as well. Bless you for your patience and kindness
So pretty are the beach sunflowers. I am glad that you are back in Fort Myers shelling again. So glad the weather has warmed up again here in South Florida.💕☀️
So much great wildlife on the beach that you shared with us today. Thank you for sharing and identifying all those critters for us. Collecting and identifying shells is amazing, but scratch a collector and you get a biologist! Loved this beach morning with all it's abundance.
You know,... girl friend... in the beginning you always say, "Let's go .... to the Beach". I say it with you, each and every time!! ANOTHER Spectacular day with you!! So many stunning shells AND animals. Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU , Shar,...for taking us, educating us and sharing with us each time you go!! You are a precious gem!.... just the very best!!! Seeing the brittle stars was fabulous!! I wish I could attach a photo...I found a really tiny brittle star on a Normandy beach in France last year, and it was expired. It's about 1 inch from arm-tip to arm-tip. What a great day you had! Thank you for sharing it!!
Hi Sharmon, What a wonderful morning at the beach! It was so much fun to see all the critters. Thank you for rescuing that batfish. I think the poor thing would have died without your help. I really love the striped FFC's. Most adults have lost the stripes, but if they still have them: true love!😍 And the 3 shells that made your heart sing!❤❤❤ If your heart sings, then I'm so happy for you. And I'm glad you found them! They are stunning! I hope you have a wonderful week! Sending you lots of love and hugs, xoxo ❤, Ilona
It was a great morning to be out there experiencing the critters and I got lucky with a few of those shells too. I think getting to the beach before the sun comes up is climbing up on my list of favorite things. I love watching the sky transform and experience the beach waking up. Thank you for always taking the time to come to the beach with me! Hugs, sunshine and health to you!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm sure that you already know this, some may not, but if you take a handful of live coquinas and place them in the wet sand they will stand up edge wise and vibrate or wiggle themselves down into the sand and dissappear. Fascinates me every time 😊😊
Good evening, my Beach Angel! That batfish was so cool! He's a deeper water critter, if I remember correctly. He may not be feeling very well, but blessings on you for being kind to him anyway! There are lots of shells, you just had to work a bit for them! That whelk is gorgeous!! That brittle star is really moving! Such a pretty green color! Another lovely whelk? Yay! More brittle stars! So many critters today! I always enjoy seeing you so happy on your shell walks, Angel, but knowing that I will soon be with you makes me overjoyed! After all the storms I have weathered, it will be good to furl my sails and just rest in a peaceful port. I am determined to forget the rough waves that threatened to sink me and look toward brighter horizons. You, my dear beachy friends, have beought me so much comfort and courage! I am very grateful thst you didn't give up on me (even though mermaids get the blues sometimes). Much love to all of you (and you know who you are) for all your faith in me. Greetings, Sharmon! I'm so happy you had a wonderful time at Ft. Myers. All those live critters were fascinating. As far as shell treasures go, I have to say that my most favorite find was the super two row spikey crown conch. It was stunning! Also loved seeing you find that very large whelk. The fighting conchs you brought home were very beautiful too. Of course the beach bowls are very exciting to me. I plan on bringing a special shell bag just for them when I finally get to visit Florida. How fun it all was. Your videos are always so positive and upbeat. Like many others who watch your show have said, it helps me forget any troubles or concerns I have for a little while. Hearing your cheery voice always puts a smile on my face. Have a blessed week, beach friend!
I can’t be anything but grateful and filled with joy that I live here and that I get to share my beach fascination with others. I’m learning, I get to experience amazing things and every week I find something that ignites my imagination. Thank you for letting me share this with you!!! 🙏🏼
This was one of my favorite videos of yours! It was so relaxing-I love a slow pace and any kind of live critter at the beach is my favorite thing. Aquatic, land dwelling, or flying in the sky-it is wonderful for my soul. Thank you so much for sharing and teaching for those of us who aren't lucky enough to live where our heart is. Have a great week!
Finally got time to watch this video today. What a wonderful variety of sealife you found! I think my favorites were the brittle sea stars. So fascinating to watch them move along the bottom like they were waving their little arms! Perfect water depth & clarity to be able to observe them. The large crown conch or king's crown was gorgeous. I found one that size yrs ago on a shallow flat. Needed lots of cleaning but turned out stunning. Thanks for slowing down to let us watch the different birds, & all the live creatures you showed us were so interesting. I always look forward to the Beach Time at high volume! 🌊
Hi Sharmon! You always show us such fascinating things like the bat fish, brittle stars, the giant cockle doing its filtering thing. The big whelk was beautiful but that dark chocolate one was amazing. I think my favorite tonight was the king crown with that extra row of spikes, beautiful! Such a peaceful Sunday walk. Loved the beginning before the sun was up. Thanks for another great adventure. Love my Sunday nights!!
I am so grateful to you for your shelling videos. I’ve learned a lot more about shells and unfortunately how much my collection massively pales in comparison ! Now I know to be much more choosy and to arrive early in the morning 🥰 Oh, and I forgot to comment about the BatFish ! What a wild looking fish and how nicely it swam away ! 🙏😎🙏
I just loved the batfish, brittle stars, and the live atlantic giant cockle and prickly cockles in today's video! I've been to the West coast of FL just once so far, and I was really fascinated with the prickliness of the cockles: for one thing, they remind me of the close up pictures of a cat's tongue, and secondly, though I can find them occasionally on the East coast, they have only some slightly raised bumps on the outer edges of the shell. And I love prickles, spikes, spines, teeth! Spreaking of which, very awesome crown conch! Big lightning whelk was awesome, too--actually all the lightning whelks were beautiful! FFCs especially beautiful today, too. What a great walk!
I agree with the spikes, spines and teeth - they are awesome! Those live cockles were just glorious with the prickly texture. I like them anyways, but they were particularly awesome on this day. I love low tide!!
Fun video! Great shells and creatures! I love how you marvel at all the spikes, colors, and patterns. I do too, and I just love that others are as enamored by the awesomeness of these shells as I am! ❤
The live creatures were amazing today! And so were the shells. I hope to get back to your area of Florida someday. I didn’t really appreciate the shelling 30 years ago on my last visits. 😢 Thanks to you I’m a lot wiser! ❤
So many pretty shells and snazzy creatures today! The Short Nose Bat fish!! And the keepers! That big spikey crown conch . . . that great horse conch -- loved everything!
Come as you are?? In that case, I am strolling the Fort Meyers Beach in my Jammies...all the way from Michigan!! 😂. Looking forward to our weekly stroll...so let's get on with the adventure! Thanks, Sharmon, for inviting me along!! ❤
Hi Sharmon. I am just getting to watch Sunday's video on Tuesday! I can't believe you found two gorgeous lightning whelks! They were both gorgeous! ( :
Yes, that was a live albino PC. See them here too. Beautiful big LW! Really cool live brittle star! I've never gotten to see one move like that! Another LW with gorgeous color! That yellow-orange LW was really cool! Absolutely gorgeous crown! Great size HC too. I vote for a white rose petal telin. Congrats on the speckled telin! 😊 Thanks Sharmon! xxoo
Wow, that was a great shell day. Mickler's Landing is closing this month for dune restoration. That is good for the beach, but not so great for hunting shark's teeth. I don't know if the will be bringing up sand or broken shell's like it is now. I just hope when it reopens there will be shark's teeth to find. Thanks Sharmon!
Oh man! Well…hopefully the sand will mostly go at the waters edge. All the teeth found were up high in those broken shells. Hey, maybe the new sand will have a few shells in it! 😃
I’ve never gotten the opportunity to shell search as I’ve always had kids with me while visiting the beach. I enjoyed shell searching vicariously through you! Maybe one day!
Well that was a big mixed bag wasn’t it. Lovely shells though, loved the big Lightening whelk, just like the size they seem to get in the Carolina’s. Enjoyed that walk muchly. Have an amazing week, hugs and stay safe xx

Holy cow! What a beautiful bounty of gorgeous shells today..🐚❤️ I just love how you talk to the shells, it just makes me giggle..did I see an another buried LW at the 11:30 mark while you were checking the whitish alphabet cone? Loved to see the live cockle, that was new to me. Thanks so much for an amazing walk on the beach…❤️
My kids and I love to watch your videos. I went on a shelling cruise to Cayo Costa when I was 7, and I was smitten. Just got back from Fort Myers yesterday because I wanted to take my kids to SW Florida for the best shelling in the world! 😄 We didn’t have nearly the success you have, but we’re still novices. 😄 This was a great video!
I’m telling you the shells are hiding this winter! I absolutely love living here and practice definitely helps when looking for those souvenirs Next time you’ll do better!
Awesome finds! I look forward to your videos every Sunday! We just got back from Florida and had a fantastic time! We found our first ever sand dollars and about a million chestnut turbins on Honeymoon Island. My husband found the biggest lettered olive I have ever seen and it is in pristine condition. Can't wait for next year when we go again....but I definitely want to stay somewhere further south. ❤
Now I know what I have. I found the round part of a brittle star on the beach while I was visiting the west coast of Fla. I kept it but didn’t know what it was. Thanks for pointing it out.
Awesome beach walk! When we come to Fort Myers Beach this week, I will not mind if we have a “slower than average” day if it is half as good as your shell finds.
My husband and I live in Colorado and watch you all the time. We vacation in Siesta Key every year. This year we are staying at Ft. Meyers Beach for a few days first to go shelling. What part of the southern end are you at? Best place to park? We can't wait to get back to Florida!
I love your site and have learned so much. Your respect for the sea life and your educating on it is so valuable to me and many others. Just out of curiosity do you eat seafood? For myself I have been a pescatarian for many years and am now questioning it. I know the birds and other sea life sustain off of each other and now am questioning where I fit in. ha. Anyways, no judgment or such but just curious. I lived in Sarasota for many years and miss the beaches. Am still in Fla but in N. central Fla but every chance i get i vacation on the coast. Love your videos and enjoy combing the beaches with you xx
I do eat seafood but I am also questioning any “meat” or seafood products I consume. I think with time I will likely try to eat more plant based proteins. I think it’s smart to question the food web and how we fit in!
Awesome find with that speckled tellin! They're definitely uncommon in the southwest Florida coast, I've only ever found them in the panhandle and NC. So strange how hard it is to find those sizable whelks. On the contrary, some areas of the NC outer banks the big ones are almost more abundant than the small ones!
I know - it’s so interesting what is abundant and scarce in different areas. Like the baby ears or big whelks you’ve been finding in the Carolinas. That speckled tellin was just such a great surprise. I’m glad the rare shells are rare. Makes it more special when they’re found 😄
Loved all the cool critters….thanks for showing them. What do you do with all those glorious shells? There are a few kinds of shells that I have so many of but still want to collect more because they’re so beautiful!
I have plenty of shells and I still want to pick up more 😂 I get asked a lot about my collection so I made a video about it: ruclips.net/video/GZQVCKCJQZk/видео.html
Everyone needs to understand the importance of not touching and not removing starfish from the sea. The reason starfish die outside water is that they cannot breathe. This leads to carbon dioxide poisoning and ultimately asphyxiation. Another common cause of death is stress from handling them too much.Starfish can resist between 3 and 5 minutes out of the water before dying. However, this is not an excuse to constantly take them out and put them in the water. As mentioned above, they can die from stress.
Super fun video! Thank you for sharing your beach adventures. If I get to visit SWF in the spring I will bring my mom while she can still travel. She’s 79 and is a kind of unsteady in the sand. You go to all the beaches so I thought you might be able to recommend a beach. One that is great for shell hunting and/or sharks teeth that is flat and not so far for her to walk. Last time we were there Manisota Key Beach was the best we found but it was a long walk for her. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your awesome videos!!!
The only beach I can think of that comes close to shells and teeth is Michele’s Landing in the East Coast. Out SW beaches don’t really have teeth until you get up to Venice, which doesn’t really have shells. Lighthouse Beach on Sanibel has great access for someone that isn’t steady on the beach. Most other beaches there is a bit of a walk to get to the beach.
Our daughter has trouble walking, especially in soft sand. Turner Beach on Captiva has a very short walk from the parking lot to the beach. Then if you get down closer to the water where the sand is wet it is easier to walk. We have a place about a mile from Manasota Beach. I would say the easiest to get to in order to look for teeth is Stump’s Pass State Park on the south end of Manasota Key. You can find shark teeth there and while shelling is not great, it is the best place on Manasota Key to shell. The North Jetty on Casey Key has sidewalk along the jetty so that you can get to the beach using a sidewalk. I have had more luck with shells there, but not as good of luck with shark’s teeth. If you have a handicap parking permit for her, be sure to bring it. Have fun!
Thank you both for your health. I wasn’t real clear on the shells vs teeth. I meant to say one or the other as I enjoy both but unfortunately most beaches are good for one but not both. Last time we stayed in Venice. This time I’m not sure … Venice, Fort Myers.. depends on what I can find. Thank you again!!!

I feel like the "snacking holes" are little portholes, just seems appropriate somehow. The Brittle Stars are so amazing!
So many new things for me wow, awesome video 🫶🏽💕
Thank you so much!
What a great video today! Love all the sea creatures! Wish I could shell in Fort Meyers!
What a wonderful walk!! I loved every minute!
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Thank you again for taking us along.
Just beautiful 🎉
Thank you! 😊
Interesting critters!
Great trip happy times🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💖💖💖💖
Thank you 🤗
Awesome finds! ❤
Sounds like your trip was a success! I’m rather partial to our south west beaches. I think we have the best treasures 😁
What a fantastic video Sharmon! I loved every minute of it and such wonderful finds!
Thanks so much!
Now I know what I have. I found the round part of a brittle star on the beach while I was visiting the west coast of Fla. I kept it but didn’t know what it was. Thanks for pointing it out.
Love your videos. I so enjoy shelling, but didn’t know what I was brining home. I do now and it’s wonderful.
That’s awesome! I love figuring out what these shells are. 😀
Crabs need their shells!!
thank you
You're welcome!
I can't believe the size of that lighting welk
I'll be in Ft. Myers Beach starting April 3rd for the 1st time! Your videos are helping me know what to look for when I get down there!! 😊
Happy planning! 🐚
THAT CROWN?!?!?!
Going to Ft. Myers Beach in 10 days!❤
Awesome beach walk! When we come to Fort Myers Beach this week, I will not mind if we have a “slower than average” day if it is half as good as your shell finds.
Good shell luck to you! 🐚
I live in the high desert. Today is another foot of snow. How much I love watching your content. Thanks.
Stay warm beach friend!

Makes it more special when they’re found 😄
I've never seen a starfish like that that's wild
Very pretty!
You found some grrrreat treasures. In hoping to get there this winter
This is actually Scott's wife Debbie commenting. I will email you. Thanks!
