Another great day at the beach ! We may never know how much an act of kindness can mean to someone at a particular time in their life. Whether it’s an off day or something more, showing kindness can go a long way in lifting people’s spirit. That was sweet of you and she will remember “the kind lady” on the beach. Have a great day everyone ! Thanks again for the trip.
Thank you for the relaxing visit to little hickory! You made someone's day right there live.. so glad we were there to be a part of it too!! It was a truly beautiful day.. and there were still treasures to be found! Hugs!
Good for you, Beach Angel! You are now a part of Mary's beachy memories! So proud of you! Good day shelling, though they were few and far between. You know whatbthey say "A bad day spent shelling is better than a good day spent behind a desk!" So glad that Hurricane Beryl seems to be headed away from SWF! Prayers for a calm and peaceful season! Much love to all and happy shelling, too! The Mermaid
There is no such thing as a bad shelling day!! Or a bad day at the beach for that matter. There is always, always something to delight me or make me smile 😃 I hope all is well by you mermaid❣️
Don't forget that hag stones also let you see into the fairy realm. If you look through the hole next time, you might just see a mer-fairy or two! Thank you for a lovely video. Cheers.
I don’t know why you showed up on my feed, but I’m addicted to your videos. I’ve learned so much about shells and sea life just watching three videos. Absolutely had to subscribe. Thank you. Happy shelling!
Hi Sharmon! So enjoyed this adventure. I have patience of a saint when I'm shelling. I could sit in those crushed shells or any shell piles for hours. Just my thing! So sweet of you to give Mary your alphabet cone! I know you made her day. Lucky lady and she got to meet you. Love my Sundays and shelling with you! Have a great week!!😊😊
Good for you giving that beauty to Mary. You were just listening to that quiet, still voice. You passed that test, that's why you felt so euphoric after doing it. Have a great rest of the week.
Mossy arcs, when viewed back to front, remind me of a grand piano. Nice variety again and some lovely colours. Good one to give Mary your best shell. Hugs and stay safe xx
Hi Sharmon! What a cool experience. I would agree, giving the cone to Mary was the highlight. It is more blessed to give than to receive and you made her day, not just by receiving a cool shell, but by your kindness to her as a stranger. It made all of us feel good too. Of the treasures you brought home, I loved the conchs (of course) but also that one calico scallop with the 3 yellow rays coming from the center and sides. Also that really soft light pink scallop toward the end of the show. I enjoyed it all. God bless your week my friend.
Your videos actually inspired me to learn more about shells and learn more about ocean critters, etc but I love your content so much and you’ve been a lot of help! 💗
16:11 I started doing this during this past shelling trip, mostly to return the good karma. I had several nice fellow shellers on the EAST coast who could tell I was serious and gifted me awesome shells out of their shell bag that I don’t normally get on our side. I also started pulling nice shells out of the water and telling kids there are some awesome shells over there go look! I have so many and if this is someone’s one and only chance to shell here I don’t mind giving them away anymore. There are plenty of shells for everyone in SWFL! ❤
This was a fun search. I can't wait for "Tinies" next week. Thank you for taking us with you. Mary seemed to have a huge lightning welk shell & then you gave her the Cone. Hope she enjoys it..
Good for you! You followed the still small voice that told you she needed it more than you and that your little act of kindness was just what she needed in that moment. 🥰🥰🥰
We watched this one on my husband's subscription and i thought it was sweet that you shared your treasure ~ my husband said no way, if i find it it's mine! 😂
It was so nice you gave the Alphabet Cone to Mary. Giving is great. I love jingles in all their shiny colours and all the live fighting chonks. You make my Sunday bright!
What a wonderful moment. Giving away that Alphabet Cone will lead you to more amazing shells in the future and even more opportunities to share and/or give away those shells with others. In our crazy post-lockdown world, you shared beauty and selflessness not only with Mary but with us as well.
It was a beautiful walk on the beach today! I loved all the live critters! That little hermit crab was so cute! He came out a little bit! Beautiful shells. I think the kitten paws are cute shells! ❤ I enjoy the sound of the waves during the beach time!
Ok I’ve been watching for years and going to SWF for years!! Love. Love. Going to the beach w you!! Some day would love to. Say hello in person! Happy day!! From SW Ohio!!
The little piece of the buttercup lucine (sp?) looked like a great piece to use in a craft. It was shaped just like a crescent moon. It would’ve been cute in a baby’s room.
I watched today's episode when it was late and I was sleepy -- I really got lost in a reverie and enjoyed every minute on the beach -- thank you, Sharmon!
It’s always fun to give away great shells. I’m sure Mary will never forget receiving such a beauty. There didn’t appear to be many folks on the beach, are most of those condos still under reconstruction? The buildings look in pretty good condition on my screen but I know it takes years to recover. Anyway, lovely walk on the beach, fun seeing the manatees and your shell haul was impressive. Looking forward to next week’s video.
I was lulled by the sound of power equipment on my walk....I think most of those buildings are still closed. There are a few resorts that really pulled everything together quickly, but these condos are at the mercy of contractors. We still have a way to go but more things are opening up all the time 😃
Giving shells away to kids is the best! Their eyes light up and will take off running to show off their new treasure! We just got home from Sanibel, but explore as many beaches as we can. Y’all have to try this… you know when you find a shell that might not be a keeper in your eyes or you don’t really need another “beach bowl”, keep those shells and sprinkle them along the beach or ask a child if they would like to have one of those imperfect shells-it’s absolutely perfect to them! I know, you gotta schlep them around. BUT, it’s so worth it to make a child’s day!
We call this Barefoot Beach and our friend now in heaven Cathy Carson would meet low tide for shelling everyday in the Jan/Feb season. I wouldn't leave the condo until 10am and search for left overs. We would compare findings and were always amazed at the variety.
Im gonna guess, you gave away your Jinonia????? Ohhh its one you just found hahahaha ok. Very nice of you! I do thoroughly enjoy these evening walks on the ocean beach, so thanks, yes you are very nice Sharmon❤
You made me chuckle: you didn't turn over the last two turkey wings you picked up! You ALWAYS look at the undersides, but this time you didn't...on TWO of them!!! LOL!!
You are such a nice person! I would love to run into you one day on a beach somewhere so you could tell me all about what you've found !. Lol. Have a great week
Dear Sharmon, It was great to see Little Hickory again after such a long time. Thank you for making Mary so happy! I know first hand how generous you are, and seeing Mary so happy was amazing!❤ The manatees were so cute. Sadly I missed the live. Hopefully next time it will work out. The time difference between SWL and Florida is about 6 hours. So, who knows! I felt so bad for that FFC! Hopefully it's able to repair the shell. It must be painful not to be able to close off the shell and get sand where it doesn't want it. 😢 The Calico's were awesome. I love them so much! I know they are very common, but all those different colors make them so stunning!😍 My dear beach friend, I hope you have a fantastic week and I can't wait to see your next video. Sending you love and hugs from the Netherlands, xoxo ❤, Ilona
I love not knowing what kind of adventure I'm going to have and never being disappointed. I felt terrible for that conch with a hole in its shell 🥲 but hopefully it will persevere. The colors on the scallops today were spectacular! I don't know why some common shells appeal to me and some do not 🤷♀️ The weather has been keeping me on my toes! I will have plans to go to a certain beach, but the weather will change and I'll change my mind! I like to be close to my car and parking if the weather is iffy, but if it's going to be nice, I'll hike to my favorite spots! I hope you have a good week - sending you health, love and sunshine!! ❤️❤️❤️
I just found my first junonia @ a thrift shop in Ohio where I live!!! I guess that counts, right? 🤷🏼♀️😂 I have looked at every ziplock bag of shells for sale for YEARS! I was SO excited!!! 🌊🐟🐠🦀🐙🐙🐬🧜♀️⚓️🌅🦑🦈🪸🪼🐚🐚🐚🐚🐋🦞🦐
I watch and adore your videos since winter!! your voice is just so calming and relaxing that I watch these videos before I sleep or whenever I feel myself bad. And this video made my day because of You and Mary!!! I went to the beach in my country, to the Caspian Sea, but i couldn't find any nice and pretty sea shells sadly :( I was wondering if You could send me one of your lovely Florida fighting conchs. it might little challenging to send to my country, because I live in Azerbaijan, but I would be so thankful if u could send me one♥Love ur videos, cheers!!!!
I have shipped shells to Tasmania, so I don't see why I couldn't ship them to Azerbaijan! If you would really like to buy some shells shoot me an email and I'm sure we can work something out! swfbeachlife@gmail.com
Nice video!!!!!! I’m thinking of these fighting conks about how they are like people as they like there homes to be individual to himself. They are amazing. You keep blessing us with your videos. I try to watch some everyday..from High springs in NCF!!! Just wish I lived closer to the beach because I do a lot of crafts and jewelry, but I just have a time or two a year to see the ocean..thank you!!!!!!!
You find amazing Calico scallops. So pretty/dark. Wild Fight conchs. That was cool giving away that shell. I felt as she did because on the unguided trip, the shellers had been there before to Keewaydin so they gave me the shells I was looking for. Very kind. Thank you for doing these videos. I was feeling sorry for myself today as I got Covid from my cruise and I was feeling well and then Saturday, boom. Not feeling well. I went and looked at my Shells from my Florida trip to make myself happy. lol. Your video helped improve my mood. :) Thank you. And be safe. I'm hearing about Hurricane Beryl.
We have a condo in Naples and my love of shelling has gotten greater thanks to you!! Where is the best place to look in August? I know summer isn't the best but....
I've been at the beach since the 27th of June. (Butler Beach near St. Augustine) Going home tomorrow. Weather has been perfect. Found a big piece of an Angel Wing, a piece of a Lettered Olive, 1 Slipper Snail, a piece of a Horse Conch, a top of a Lightening Welk and a bunch of common shells. Kinda disappointed in the shelling but, the waves were great.
If you would like to swim with the manatees come to Crystal River. It is very beautiful. It is spring feed, so no shells. But in the winter there are manatees everywhere.
Hi ai am in Naples’s Fl right now went to Vanderbilt beach and I found a lot of small shells. I am coming back in August so I hope my haul will be better. Going to Loudermilk beach tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Had to stop at the purple CS with the orange stripes. Have never seen one quite like that! Beautiful! I think you're right that the white dots are baby barnacles. It IS a great feeling to give shells away! Good for you!❤️ Great catch of the skimmer! Did you go to Little Hickory after watching Bryan's last video?😊 Thanks Sharmon! xxoo
Shamefully I am very behind on videos so I have not watched it yet. He probably found 10x the goodies I did 🤣 I just wanted to see what's over there and I got to make another beach friend 😃
Lovely walk Sharmon, I have my thoughts and prayers on the islands in the path of hurricane Beryl. But I have an idea how you felt after giving the alphabet cone to Mary, it works with shark's teeth too!! This young man had been searching for about a half hour and could not find one, so I gave him a couple so he had a better idea what to look for. Not 5 minutes later, he found his first shark tooth and he asked me if I wanted mine back... sweet kid. Have an awesome week!!
Now when you go shelling, are you just walking on beaches or are you doing any snorkeling? I'd like to know so when I visit HI I'll have an idea where to go! I recently released a video about my shell collection - since so many people ask! ruclips.net/video/5vq9DJbCJDA/видео.htmlsi=UsnaEM_Goq2QLO08
Your videos are really great! Do you use a reference book to ID shells? I would like to be able to ID more of our Caribbean shells and I think we have similar ones :)
My best reference book is a book about Florida shells: amzn.to/3aqkmO0 There are some great Facebook groups that can help too. I love Empty Seashell Identification group!
Here’s a dilemma I’m curious to hear people’s opinion of. I found some trash (an old slipper) that had a bunch (50?) of live barnacles on it. I left it in the water. A friend of mine also found trash with barnacles but brought it back to the house to throw away. It was distressing to watch the creatures. What would you have done?
I'm team critter so I would have left the slipper like you did. Eventually the critters will die off and THEN the trash can be thrown away, in my humble opinion. I'm curious what others have to say too!
This may sound silly to ask but is there a limit on how many shells a person can collect from the beach on a trip? My daughter and I love to collect shells when we vacation in Englewood and we have them displayed on our night stands and dresser. One year we collected a gallon size bag and I felt like we robbed the beach 😂 I’m just curious if there’s a rule about that. I love your channel so much, when I miss the beach (which is often) I turn on RUclips on our tv and we watch your videos. Thank you for bringing us some Florida sunshine ❤
I'm not as familiar with the beaches up in Englewood, but the beaches down here ALWAYS and mean ALWAYS have seashells. Maybe not pristine, collectible shells, but there are plenty to go around. There are no limits to the amount of empty shells you can take. Down here I don't worry about telling people to not take too many because there are so many of them. I suspect what you are taking is not damaging the environment so I wouldn't be too concerned. If you were taking wheelbarrow-full quantities everyday that might be concerning but a gallon-size bag once a year is likely no problem!
@@SWFBeachLifefantastic. We are going to Sanibel and Fort Myers sometime in September so I look forward to seeing what we find. We’re not picky, all shells are beautiful to me 😊
I’m in Indiana. ISO one shell for my grand crabby 😮. She’s hasn’t undied yet. No beaches. The size would be a dollar coin size. She’s in a quarter size shell now please
I love all of those scallop shells. Have you ever seen people removing a live animal from its shell and what did you do. You know the rules, I just wondered if there was a lot that didn’t. Please send me a message.
I have never seen anyone try to remove a live animal from its shell. I would definitely try to educate them if I did! When I see people walking around with live sand dollars, I do tell them the animals are alive and should be left at the beach.
hey im going to key largo and the everglades for my birthday/graduation trip, i was wondering if you knew any beaches that are best for shelling in that area. im from jax so im not familiar with that area. best wishes
Congrats on graduating! The everglades and the keys aren't really known for shells 😳 You can certainly see some great stuff at the shell shops on the overseas highway. I believe there is one right in Key Largo. I snorkeled at Bahia State Park, but still didn't manage to find much.
Um mam? I saw a lady once with her car trunk full of 5 gallon buckets. She was filling the buckets with shells she was taking them home…to make crafts? Is that allowed? She noticed I saw her and kinda dug herself into the trunk of her car. My question is how much shelling is allowed. Growing up on the beach I had my fair share of shelling but is there a limit?
There are no limits here on how many empty shells you can take. Some areas don’t have many shells but down here in SWFL, there are ALWAYS shells to collect. I guess I’d just like to see people collect ethically. As long as they aren’t harming critters or other people - they’re good!
Hi do you giveaway most of your shells? I’m going to Florida in October and I’m interested in collecting shells and drift wood (small, medium and large ). Let me know please!
At 21:13 on that piece of wood, that really looked like fishing line was wrapped around the left side. If it was, did you remove it as beach trash? Fishing line is one of the worst pieces of trash in our waters. It’s too easy for little creatures to get caught up in it and die.
I just wanted to tell you that I love your videos. However, why in the world would you throw away sea glass? That piece was beautiful. As a sea glass hunter, I would have kept it. I understand if you throw away new pieces, but not sea glass that has been smoothed.
I keep sea glass that is all frosted and "cooked", but glass that is sharp I recycle. There are so many people that go barefoot, I'd like to keep them from getting stitches they don't need and our waters are so gentle, it would take YEARS and YEARS for the glass to become frosted. You may find a piece or two of legitimate sea glass down here, but most of the glass I pick up does end up in the recycling bucket.
Free shell collectors just a FYI they are homes to some creatures and you take them away from them just like you've taken Florida. Living in a sea of Northerners😢
Anybody else not able to resist saying, "Let's go to the beach" during the intro with Sharmon! 😆😅
Guilty ! Every time ! Haha I didn’t think I would be the only one.

Thank you so much for watching!
As far as I can tell, we're not even going to get any wave action from Beryl. Whew! I sure hope you feel better soon. Covid is just yuck. ❤️
@@SWFBeachLife That is good that hopefully you won't get any action. Some waves and shells is fine. Hurricane, no bueno. Yeah, Covid stinks.
We have a condo in Naples and my love of shelling has gotten greater thanks to you!! Where is the best place to look in August? I know summer isn't the best but....
I wish there was a best place. We would all go there all the time!
Those beaches aren't the same as the ones down here for sure! When I was up there I really enjoyed looking for shark teeth at Mickler's Landing.
If you would like to swim with the manatees come to Crystal River. It is very beautiful. It is spring feed, so no shells. But in the winter there are manatees everywhere.
I will do that one of these days!!
The finger coral always reminds me of the suction cups of octopus legs, it startles me for some reason.
I want all the scallops! 😅
Hummm, for some reason i haven't been getting notifications for your videos. Ta da, today i did.
I sure miss the beach
Gotta love technology! Sorry the notifications weren't coming - I've heard of YT going that. 😩
Hi ai am in Naples’s Fl right now went to Vanderbilt beach and I found a lot of small shells. I am coming back in August so I hope my haul will be better. Going to Loudermilk beach tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Good shelling luck to you!
Surprised you didn't remove the fishing line wrapped around the beach wood with the Wood Piddock holes.
I’m not sure what that was! I was so focused on the holes I didn’t notice it.
Sometimes your brain just needs to see what it's searching for! What a great gift you gave that kid!
I’m new to your channel and loving it! I live on O’ahu and go shelling now and then, but now I’m going out more! What do you do with all your shells?
Now when you go shelling, are you just walking on beaches or are you doing any snorkeling? I'd like to know so when I visit HI I'll have an idea where to go!
I recently released a video about my shell collection - since so many people ask! ruclips.net/video/5vq9DJbCJDA/видео.htmlsi=UsnaEM_Goq2QLO08
Love your channel! Do you offer a map of the places you find shells?
Thank you so much! I do not offer a map per se, but I typically do provide the location I am at each time I share a new video.
Your videos are really great! Do you use a reference book to ID shells? I would like to be able to ID more of our Caribbean shells and I think we have similar ones :)
My best reference book is a book about Florida shells: amzn.to/3aqkmO0
There are some great Facebook groups that can help too. I love Empty Seashell Identification group!
@@SWFBeachLife Thanks so much! Appreciated 🙏
Love your weekly videos. Can I ask when you put your shells in bleach how long do you soak them for and do you dilute the bleach.
I normally do not dilute my bleach (I'm hardcore) and they usually only need a 24 hour soak and they're perfect!

😊😊😊
I would have kept that large dollar shell, put it on a mirror or something in the corner and lay other shells over the broken area.. miss the beach
We’re not picky, all shells are beautiful to me 😊
@@gabrielarich2015 You’re going to love it here!!
just curious why didn't you collect any of the variable worm shells?
Good question. I actually don't have any in my collection. It's pretty common and I guess it just doesn't appeal to me.
“Full fat” lucine 😆 24:21
😉
Hi do you giveaway most of your shells? I’m going to Florida in October and I’m interested in collecting shells and drift wood (small, medium and large ). Let me know please!
I keep, sell and use most of my shells. I have done giveaways in the past though 😃
@@SWFBeachLife ok thanks

At 21:13 on that piece of wood, that really looked like fishing line was wrapped around the left side. If it was, did you remove it as beach trash? Fishing line is one of the worst pieces of trash in our waters. It’s too easy for little creatures to get caught up in it and die.
It wasn't fishing line but I'm not sure what it was. My husband and I have saved a few birds from discarded fishing line. It's the worst!
Is it just me who has the urge to call calico scallops sunset scallops?
Especially the ones with those orange bursts! 🥰
Where is little H?
It's in Bonita Springs Florida: maps.app.goo.gl/UZL7CafVhNgezwQv9
@@SWFBeachLife that one piece looked really frosted but maybe I didn’t take a good look. Thanks for picking up the trash 🥰
Free shell collectors just a FYI they are homes to some creatures and you take them away from them just like you've taken Florida. Living in a sea of Northerners😢
