Clapping during worship is distracting. I think there should be a teaching against this. It’s a sensitive moment and someone starts loudly slapping their hands together and it distracts a person from that intimacy. It jars them out of that sweet place.
If that’s you. We know you’re excited but be respectful of others that are in a moment of encounter.
Clapping out of place is not worship. It’s about you agreeing with what’s sung. You can do that silently.
Super well meant. Unfortunately, some people don't have their moment with God 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 they clap. I realize that some people seek attention (you can do that by crying on the floor too, btw), but God moves in many ways, not just one...
Additionally, a clap from one individual might spark something in others, just like a well-timed halelujah shout. The timing is important, like you mention; prophets are especially pointed out in Corinthians as needing restraint for orderliness. The issue is, sometimes, what we imagine to be best timing simply isn't (Reference many Holy Spirit meetings when suddenlies took place frequently). What we think to be best might just be flesh if not listening carefully.
I'll add as a caveat, I think we are often divided and need unity in meetings more than ever. Clapping inappropriately really is distracting, and it is entirely possible that many seek glory or honor falsely, using clapping as a means of letting emotional hype rather than Holy Spirit guide them. Like the apostles and prophets of old, we ought to be carried along by the Holy Spirit, keeping in step with Him and discerning His voice. I know DannyMcCollum has preached similar issues of restraint--mostly asking God more questions like timing & delivery. Keep pressing in and He will reveal far beyond what we imagined He would. He is literally our entire life.
This is very weird to watch. It’s very performance based. Doesn’t feel genuine.
